Fortunately, Aizen Sōsuke's move, while seemingly powerful, in actuality didn't consume much spiritual pressure and functioned mostly as deterrence.
Nevertheless, the ability to knock down so many people with one motion sparked concern among the Kido Corps members.
"Who is this guy?"
"He took down everyone with one move?"
"He really is the Vice Captain… He broke through even the 90th-level Hadō and kept that much power?"
"If that's the Vice Captain, how terrifying must the Captain be?"
Their hushed comments reflected shared shock.
Watching Aizen injure the entire group, Yuta sighed.
"Soyosuke, I asked you to stop them-not crush them."
Expressionless, Aizen replied, "They were too weak to hold back against."
...?
Too weak?
No strength?
Yuta shook his head slightly while raising one hand; Kaidō light began to glow from his palm.
He had refined his healing Kaidō to the level of forming a field, allowing restoration of multiple individuals at once.
Injuries across the Kido Corps members began healing rapidly beneath the technique's influence.
Some surprise flickered through their expressions. Yoshida stood up slowly, watching the healing process in astonishment.
He hadn't expected this kind of large-scale treatment directly from their new Captain.
It was impressive-almost overwhelming.
Hearing Yuta use Hadō No. 90 without chant was within their understanding of elite capability-but large-scale Kaidō recovery at this level surpassed any normal limitations.
Afterall, the Kido Corps members were trained in Kido. While few could use Ghost Path No. 90, it wasn't unheard of if one had time to chant.
In combat, however, no one had the luxury of time to complete full incantations. That reality limited their combat role to support work and logistics.
They also had one common weakness-fear of close-range combat.
They functioned similar to long-range casters. Once confronted at close quarters with no time to chant, they were vulnerable.
Hadō 90 could be rationalized through skill or talent-but Yuta's field-wide Kaidō work felt utterly outside the bounds of their knowledge. It broke their understanding of what Kaidō could do.
In their minds, Kaidō was designed for delicate, precise one-on-one healing-not group recovery with ease.
Even the mental calculations required to manage simultaneous healing for multiple people should have been beyond the capacity of even master-level Kido users.
What Yuta demonstrated classified him immediately as someone with capabilities far outside conventional limits.
One technique was enough to convince them.
Yoshida patted his chest and spoke firmly, "Since I lost, I'll place my life into Captain's hands from now on."
Yuta nodded slightly and turned to Aoki Toshiaki.
"Take me to see the Kido Corps quarters."
"Yes, Captain."
Folding fan in hand, Aoki led him deeper into the Kido Corps compound.
They arrived first at the Captain's office.
"This'll be your main office area from now on."
Yuta surveyed the room. A simple desk stood at the center. There were straw mats on the floor, round futons for seating, and basic furnishings like tea bowls and incense burners. Despite it having been unoccupied for some time, the space was clean and well-aired.
"It's been empty for years," Aoki explained, "but I kept people cleaning it. We always hoped someone deserving would appear to lead us."
"Actually, before your appointment, my brother and I managed most internal matters."
"We only hold the fifth and sixth seats, but since the higher seats were vacant, leadership fell to us by default."
"Without both Captain and Vice Captain, our members were often mistreated by other Shinigami. They couldn't say anything even when pushed around."
"I've always tried to remain understanding. It's mostly my brother's stern presence that kept some of them from stepping too far."
Yuta gave him only the slightest nod in response.
Taking five steps into the room, Aoki retrieved folded garments from within the wardrobe.
"This is the Captain's uniform. You should take a look."
Yuta unfolded it and inspected it carefully.
Its form resembled the standard Captain's white haori but with distinct differences. The Kido Corps Captain's cloak was black, not white, and trimmed with gold thread around the high collar. It carried the insignia of the Kido Corps stitched in place.
"It might not fit," Aoki offered. "Would you like it adjusted?"
"No-it's fine."
Gathering spiritual energy in his hands, Yuta altered the fabric's spirit structure directly. Once he wore it, the cloak conformed to his shape instantly.
Though Aoki had no knowledge of the technique used, he simply assumed it was some advanced Kido.
Standing nearby, Aizen's eyes narrowed slightly.
No… That wasn't basic Kido at work. It was too refined-too fundamental in nature.
He watched closely as Yuta altered clothing through sheer spiritual manipulation-not simply repair or reinforcement, but rewriting the structure itself.
Such control bordered on the reconstruction of spirit particles themselves.
With mastery at that level, Yuta could theoretically reshape matter… even create from nothing… or steal it from others. Steal Kido, steal reiatsu-steal function.
Yet he had used it, of everything, to adjust his outfit's fit?
There was no understanding that could categorize it fully.
Facing Aizen's stare, Yuta turned back with mild amusement.
"What? Is there some kind of mark on my face?"
Without replying, Aizen turned his head away.
Yuta said nothing further. As he adjusted the Captain's cloak over his frame, it outlined his build cleanly. The black material and golden trim gave him presence-distinct from the other Captains of Gotei 13.
"Let's go," he said.
"Show me the rest."
