Interesting.
Sōsuke Aizen analyzed it. Based on their explanation, it seemed that Yuta's spiritual spring could raise spiritual pressure and awaken latent potential.
Mikami continued, "To prove it, we even tried drinking wine..."
Yuta interrupted them, speaking in his usual detached tone. "Yes, your qualifications were indeed improved by me. I haven't asked your permission regarding this-I acted on my own."
Before this acknowledgment, Mikami and the others had only guessed. After hearing Yuta's words, they no longer had doubts.
At once, the three women knelt down in front of him, placed their right hands over their chests, and said simultaneously, "We are willing to follow you and give our lives for you."
"Oh? Why do you feel that way?"
Mikami answered, "Our strength was given to us by you. Naturally, we should serve under you."
Yuta nodded. "I already have my own plan. After I finish the assessment, I'll be joining the Kidō Corps as its Captain. The three of you will be part of my squad."
"Yes!"
Once they had left, Yuta made his way to Shino Academy.
Sōsuke Aizen smiled faintly. "Yuta, aiming to be Captain? Looks like you're planning to build your own faction. I'm looking forward to it. How about I join your squad?"
"Sure, come by and I'll hand over the vice-captain position to you."
Yuta rolled his eyes at Aizen's remark. If someone like Sōsuke Aizen really joined his Kidō Corps division, it would cause suspicion too quickly. He soon arrived at Kiyota Kuranosuke's office.
Unexpectedly, upon opening the door, he found someone else already there.
Kurenai turned to Kiyota Kuranosuke and said, "I clearly saw that it was Yuta who saved me. I must thank him. And he purified so many Hollows-there should be official recognition for that."
At that moment, Yuta stepped inside.
Seeing him, Kurenai stopped mid-sentence. Sunlight caught the line of her neck, giving her skin a pale, pink hue.
Kiyota Kuranosuke handed Yuta several documents. "Your graduation procedures are complete. Since you passed the Soul Burial internship, you're eligible to graduate. However, if you want to join any division, you'll have to apply and pass their assessment. Also... it seems many in the academy already know about your Hollow eliminations."
Kuranosuke studied Yuta carefully as he spoke, visibly moved.
In just days, Yuta had reached graduation from the Shin'ō Academy. In the same class, three other students had attained vice-captain-level strength after awakening their spiritual pressure and applying for graduation together.
Yuta was clearly someone destined for greater heights.
For someone like him, this academy had only ever been shallow waters.
Going forward was the beginning of his ascent. In the future history of the Soul Society, there would likely be pages that belonged to him. Whether as witness or chronicler, one could only wonder how his story would be passed down generations later. Would he be recalled as a genius student? A formidable Captain? Or perhaps... as one of higher legend?
After receiving the documents, Yuta stepped outside.
Unexpectedly, Kurenai quickly caught up with him.
"Um... Yuta, thank you-for saving me that day."
"You're welcome," Yuta replied lightly.
Kurenai bit her lip as she stared at his back. She couldn't help but wonder-did he simply not care?
She was the student every boy admired, someone considered untouchable. Yet Yuta hadn't even glanced twice.
Kurenai's certainty faltered for the first time.
Even so, she asked, "Which division do you plan to join after graduation? I... I want to be in the same squad as you."
"Didn't you want to join Squad 2 or something?" Yuta replied.
"...but..." Kurenai hesitated, then lifted her gaze. "You saved my life. I want to repay that debt."
Her high ponytail moved slightly in the breeze as she stood in the sunlight, shoulders straight.
Yuta looked her way briefly. "You'll know which division I join soon enough. If you're interested-come when the time comes."
As Yuta walked off, Kurenai couldn't grasp what he really intended. Perhaps Yuta would stir things up no matter where he went. At least she had said what she needed to say.
To follow him-was her choice.
…
Back at the academy grounds, Yuta walked among crowded walkways. Conversations followed with every step he took.
"Did you hear? That's the most outstanding genius in decades."
"He graduated in just days-and even defeated multiple Gillian-class Hollows alone!"
"What? Gillians? Don't those usually require at least vice-captain strength? Yet he managed that on his own after just days? That's unbelievable..."
…
From farther off, Hirano Sora watched him go and sighed deeply.
When Yuta had first enrolled, he'd doubted him. Even envied him.
Now, Yuta had surpassed any frame of comparison. Hirano could no longer even see his back-perhaps Yuta had always stood that far above them.
Looking at the now distant figure, Hirano thought they might not meet again for quite some time.
…
Back among the halls, Aizen listened to nearby whispers, hands in his pockets.
"Hmm, seems you're pretty popular these days," he said casually. "When your name starts spreading, I'm sure every classroom will be echoing your story..."
"Stop it..." Yuta replied with mild annoyance. "Had you shown your power back when you were here, the reaction wouldn't have been that much different. Too bad-all you did was act like someone's reflection."
Sōsuke Aizen said nothing, simply smiling to himself.
Soon, the two reached the First Division barracks.
At its entrance hung scrollwork in bold calligraphy:
-Soldiers must die for the Gotei 13. If one endangers the Gotei 13, that one must die.
