Obito's eyes widened in terror.
This move—he knew it well. Eight years ago, his sensei had used it to defeat him while he was controlling the Nine Tails.
Thankfully, eight years had passed since then, and he was no longer the same Obito.
At the last moment, he barely managed to adjust his posture.
Even so, Kaede's sword still pierced through his chest.
It hadn't struck the heart, but it was more than enough to cause serious injury.
Kaede clicked his tongue. "Still able to dodge? You've grown quite a bit over the years."
Obito didn't dare take this lightly. In this state, unable to use intangibility, his life was fully in Kaede's hands.
He forced himself to flicker forward, breaking free from the sword's hold, then turned and immediately reactivated his intangibility.
Kaede casually flicked the blood from his blade.
"Still trying to struggle? Honestly, letting me kill you cleanly would've been the better choice."
Obito didn't reply—his eyes still filled with disbelief.
"A Mangekyō… Sharingan?! A time-space dōjutsu?!"
"Impossible! I've been watching you all this time—how could you have awakened a Mangekyō?!"
Kaede answered coldly. "Don't try to measure my strength with your narrow worldview."
What he had just used was his Mangekyō's left eye ability—also a time-space dōjutsu.
It was quite similar to Sasuke's Amenotejikara in the original series, with one key difference: unlike Amenotejikara, which could be used freely, this dōjutsu required marked targets, like Hiraishin (Flying Thunder God).
He could swap places with anything or anyone he had marked, or make two marked objects switch places.
"Now then… if this is all you've got, I'll just send you to meet the real Uchiha Madara!"
Raising Kyōka Suigetsu again, Kaede advanced.
That familiar movement made Obito's heart skip a beat.
"That sword… something's seriously wrong with it!"
Recalling how he'd fallen into genjutsu earlier without even realizing it, Obito grew even more cautious.
But Kyōka Suigetsu's power… he had no way to defend against it!
In his eyes, Kaede was still standing in place—but in the next instant, Kaede was already at his side, sword aimed at his throat.
Obito's pupils shrank—Kaede's sudden appearance had startled even him.
"What the hell kind of ability is this?! I can't guard against it at all!"
Thankfully, his intangibility was still active—Kaede's strike passed through harmlessly.
Obito immediately counterattacked—
But the Kaede in front of him faded into mist once again.
A third Kaede appeared a short distance away.
Kaede smiled. "I'll admit it—you're not much of a person, but that ability of yours really is useful."
Obito didn't have the patience to banter anymore. He just stared at Kaede, tense and focused.
Was this the real one? Another illusion?
He couldn't tell. Not even with his Mangekyō.
Because this power… didn't belong to this world.
Obito gritted his teeth. "This guy has a time-space dōjutsu, strange genjutsu, and another unknown ability…"
"I can't keep dragging this out. If I do, I'll be the one to lose."
He could use Kamui to stall Kaede—Itachi and Danzō would have time to complete the massacre.
But Obito wasn't the kind of person to risk his own life for those two.
"Hmph. With Kaede this strong, Konoha is bound to suffer serious losses. That'll just make gathering the Tailed Beasts easier for me."
"Whether the Uchiha survive or not, Konoha's decline is inevitable. Either way, I benefit. No need to waste my life here."
Even as he prepared to flee, Obito still rationalized it with pride.
Space began to distort around him. He looked at Kaede and said:
"Fine. I'll let you go this time. But next time—"
Before he could finish, Kaede's cold voice rang out:
"Let me go?"
A smirk formed at Kaede's lips.
"Too bad—I don't plan on letting you go."
That third Kaede? Another illusion. The real Kaede had been at Obito's side the entire time!
"Damn it!"
Obito gritted his teeth and abandoned the escape.
He used intangibility once more to evade Kaede's blade—he couldn't phase while entering Kamui, after all.
Again, he had no chance to leave.
"You bastard," Obito growled. "Your real enemies are Itachi and Danzō!"
"Are you seriously going to stand here while your clan is slaughtered?!"
Kaede sneered. "We've been preparing for this."
"A united Uchiha isn't something that traitor Itachi or that rat Danzō can take down so easily."
Still, Kaede knew he needed to end this quickly.
There was one wild card left—Fugaku, the hesitant clan head.
If Fugaku sided with Itachi, that'd mean another Mangekyō in enemy hands, and his people would be in danger.
But Kamui was too troublesome. Finishing off a cautious Obito wouldn't be easy.
Kaede considered whether it was better to just let him go for now.
As powerful as Kyōka Suigetsu was, he'd only had it for a few hours. He hadn't mastered it yet.
Just then—
"W-What's going on here?!"
A young, startled voice broke the tension.
Both Kaede and Obito turned toward the Police Force building entrance.
A Uchiha girl around thirteen or fourteen stood there, frozen in fear, staring at them.
Kaede frowned. "Izumi?"
He immediately recognized her.
Uchiha Izumi—the girl who used to follow him around before his memories fully returned. A genius who awakened the three-tomoe Sharingan at thirteen.
In the original anime, she was killed by Obito during the massacre of the Police Force.
"A perfect chance!"
Obito's eyes lit up.
He'd observed Kaede for a long time—he knew who that girl was.
If he could capture her, he could escape Kaede's grasp.
Without hesitation, Obito lunged toward Izumi.
Kaede's face turned ice-cold. "You really are willing to do anything, huh?"
Before awakening his memories, Kaede had been oblivious to emotions.
But now that his memories had returned, he understood Izumi's feelings.
Before, he might've teased her.
But now—Kaede was ready to kill Obito.
Kyōka Suigetsu's effect still lingered on Obito. Kaede altered his five senses.
Just as Obito thought he had Izumi, she dissolved into mist.
Kaede appeared beside the real Izumi and shielded her.
Obito's expression twisted. "Tch. That damn sword again."
How many times had Kaede fooled him?
And yet… he still couldn't figure out how this strange power worked!
Obito gave Kaede one last glare. "We'll meet again."
Space warped around him.
This time, Kaede didn't stop him.
With Izumi here, he couldn't fight with full focus anymore.
Since he couldn't end it now… he'd let Obito live a little longer.
In the end, Obito escaped—wounded and humiliated.
He had lost a Sharingan.
He'd been stabbed through the chest.
And he had been completely toyed with by Kaede.
