Chapter 220: You Think You Deserve Poison Heal?
"Roar—!!" A violent sandstorm raged as Lu Ye, looking unusually serious, opened his system Pokédex.
[Tyranitar – Dark/Rock]
[Item: Focus Sash]
[Ability: Sand Stream]
[Moves: Crunch, Ice Punch, Stone Edge, Earthquake…]
Despite its many weaknesses, the Focus Sash could help compensate. Combined with its wide offensive coverage, this was undeniably a formidable opponent! "I need to take this battle seriously," Lu Ye thought.
Amid the swirling sand, Tyranitar stood tall, its armored body gleaming. "Roar—!!" The sheer intensity of its presence made the audience hold their breath.
Growlithe bared its teeth, not retreating in the slightest. Instead, it let out a fierce howl. "Awooo~~~!" Compared to Big Sis Sylveon, this level of intimidation is nothing!
"Not only did it take down Scizor, but its Intimidate also debuffed a physical attacker like Tyranitar," the commentator exclaimed in admiration. "Lu Ye's strategic skills are on full display!"
"So that's his plan!" "No wonder he's Teacher Lu!"
Lu Ye paused. You wouldn't believe it if I told you… This Growlithe? I just brought it here this morning to fill a spot!
"Come on, send out your Sylveon!" Yang Zhichang nodded. "Let's have a full-on battle!"
Lu Ye nodded, withdrew Growlithe, and sent out Gengar.
"???"
"You're the so-called type-disadvantage master?!"
"Holy sh*t, Ghost-type against Dark-type?"
The commentator, who had just been praising Lu Ye, suddenly found himself at a loss. The veteran opponent was momentarily stunned but quickly seized the opportunity. "Tyranitar, Crunch!"
"Double Team," Lu Ye commanded.
Multiple Gengar clones spread across the battlefield. Tyranitar's Crunch tore through one with terrifying force, sending a chill down the spines of the spectators. Enraged, it scanned its surroundings.
"Double Team… It can't keep dodging forever!"
"If that attack lands, Gengar's getting sent straight to the emergency room!"
"Earthquake!" Yang Zhichang roared. The audience gasped. A deafening rumble shook the battlefield as Tyranitar stomped down, sending a powerful shockwave outward and instantly wiping out all the clones!
"Levitate," Lu Ye ordered. "Use Energy Ball!"
At the last second, Gengar lifted itself off the ground using Psychic. The illusionary clones were gone, leaving only one Gengar floating midair with a sinister grin. A vibrant green Energy Ball formed in its hands. Gengar… has a Grass-type move?!
Yang Zhichang's heart skipped a beat. "Tyranitar, Protect!" Tyranitar crossed its arms as a green barrier materialized. Boom!! The Energy Ball detonated against the shield, sending a shockwave rippling outward, clearing the sandstorm entirely. The Protect barrier shattered.
"Crunch!" Yang Zhichang yelled. The ground trembled as Tyranitar charged. But Gengar was faster! "Again—Energy Ball!"
A shockwave erupted. The Energy Ball struck Tyranitar head-on, causing it to wail in pain. "A double weakness to Grass—it's a devastating hit!" the commentator shouted.
In the next moment, Gengar leaped into the air, summoning another round of Double Team clones. Each Gengar held a small, glowing sphere. With sinister grins, they hurled the Energy Balls at the roaring Tyranitar. "Gengarr~~(ૢ˃ꌂ˂⁎)"
Boom! Boom! Boom! Explosions erupted across the battlefield.
When the dust settled, Tyranitar knelt in a massive crater, its body battered and bruised. Gengar floated down, raised its tiny fist… and gently tapped Tyranitar's stomach with a soft Shadow Punch. Thud!! Tyranitar collapsed. The stadium was deathly silent.
Yang Zhichang glanced at Lu Ye, his emotions complicated. Launching that many Energy Balls while maintaining such a wide-area Double Team… what kind of insane training is this? "This is just ridiculous…" he muttered.
"We… won?"
"A type-disadvantage match, and he still pulled it off?!"
Suddenly, the entire arena erupted in cheers. Defeating a Tyranitar while barely taking any damage… Gengar's terrifying speed and Teacher Lu's command had left an unforgettable impression. And now, a wild thought emerged in everyone's minds. A flawless victory? A complete shutout in a tournament match? But if it was Teacher Lu… This is just standard procedure!
"3-0!"
"3-0!"
The chant rose in unison.
The atmosphere reached a fever pitch, yet Lu Ye remained calm. "Better not get cocky… I could still get reverse-swept," he thought cautiously.
Yang Zhichang pulled out his final Poké Ball. Soaring into the sky, cloaked in poison, his Gliscor possessed incredible battlefield endurance.
[Gliscor – Flying/Ground]
[Item: Toxic Orb]
[Ability: Poison Heal]
[Moves: Substitute, Protect, Poison Jab, Knock Off, Toxic…]
Lu Ye chuckled. He finally understood why Yang Zhichang looked so grim. Substitute-Protect-Toxic! A strategy I'm all too familiar with!
"Gliscor, Knock Off!" Yang Zhichang commanded. Gliscor snapped its massive pincers and shot forward. Just as their paths crossed, Gengar's Protect lit up! Crack! Gliscor's pincers scraped against the barrier. At the same time, Lu Ye smirked. "Skill Swap!"
Yang Zhichang's expression changed instantly. Gengar's eyes glowed blue, its Psychic power seizing control. Gliscor suddenly froze in midair. Then, a faint purple toxin slowly crept up its body.
"After the Skill Swap, Gliscor lost Poison Heal!" the commentator gasped. "It's now suffering from poison instead!"
The audience erupted in whispers. "You think you deserve Poison Heal?!" "What kind of absurd move set is this?!"
With calculated precision, Lu Ye had Gengar cycle between Substitute and Protect. Meanwhile, Gliscor, deprived of its healing ability, was slowly worn down by poison. The classic scene had the viewers screaming in frustration. "He's so shameless!"
In the VIP seats, Shi Jian nodded. "In a high-stakes moment like this, staying composed… This is the professionalism of a true Trainer."
Chairman Song, however, was stunned. Based on what I know about this kid… he's just playing dirty!
Under the relentless poison damage, Gliscor finally plummeted from the sky. Yang Zhichang let out a long sigh. Gengar casually spun a pitch-black Shadow Ball and tossed it forward. "Gengarr~ (ノ≧∀≦)ノ" Boom!! A shockwave blasted through the arena. Gliscor, now charred black, crashed into the ground.
The audience gulped. Even after dragging it out, he still made sure to finish with a final strike. That's definitely Teacher Lu's style.
In the dead-silent arena, the referee raised his whistle. "The winner is—Lu Ye!"
For a moment, silence hung in the air. Then, the stadium exploded.
