Chapter 134 - The Changed History

Chapter 134: The Changed History

They set off again the next morning.

"Meow?" Sprigatito came to bother Ryu, who had been up all night studying.

"Stop it, I'm sleepy. Let me sleep for a while," he grumbled. She quieted down and began to gently massage his leg with her paws, a sweet scent emanating from her fur that quickly lulled him into a deep sleep.

When he woke up again, it was already noon. He stood up, stretched, and looked ahead.

In the distance, buildings and skyscrapers appeared. It was clear that this city was far more developed than Ever Grande City. But what truly stunned him was the small island just off the coast.

"It's changed," he breathed, spacing out for a moment. This was too different from his memory.

The city was Cherrygrove, which he remembered as a small, quiet town, the first stop after the beginner village. But now, it was a massive, modern metropolis. He could only surmise that the naval flanking plan from the war a thousand years ago had made the port town strategically vital, leading to its vigorous development.

And the Lonely Island, where the Gliscor colony had lived, was now a lush, lively scenic spot, connected to the city by a channel filled with ships.

"Mimi?" Lapras asked, turning her head curiously.

"Nothing. Let's go to that island to rest first and find some berries," he said.

Lapras circled the island and quickly found the river channel he had mentioned. As they entered it, however, they were discovered by a tour group of more than twenty people.

"Huh? Look, it's a Lapras! So rare!"

"No, the two on its back are the rare ones! I've never seen them before!"

"That's a Grovyle from our Hoenn region. But I've never seen the little cat."

"Can we catch it? Should we try throwing a ball?"

"Stop! That's rude! Didn't you see it's carrying a bag? It clearly has a trainer."

The noisy crowd immediately lost interest in the scenery and focused all their attention on them.

"Mimi..." Lapras, having never seen so many humans before, was terrified and lowered her neck, swimming forward with her head down.

"Don't be scared. Just ignore them," Ryu said, stroking her head. He then looked at Sprigatito. "Do you want to go back into your Poké Ball?"

"Meow? Meow!" she first tilted her head, then immediately shook it. She didn't like it in there; she wanted to stay by his side.

"Just keep moving forward," Ryu sighed. He had a good impression of the humans of this era. Even the worst he had met, the egg thieves, had a moral bottom line.

"Wow! The Grovyle glared at me!"

"Grovyle and Sceptile are both cool-looking Pokémon. Their gaze is a bit more intimidating than others."

"Speaking of which, is that Grovyle really that big?! I have to take a picture."

"Compared to the lizard, I'm more curious about that little cat. It's so cute~ Is it his child?"

Ryu listened to their discussions and couldn't help but shake his head. But then he thought, if he had come to this world as a human, he would probably be even more frantic than them.
