Chapter 110: The Skitty with Princess Syndrome
That evening, Sora insisted Officer Jenny stay for dinner, which earned Ryu a few playful scoldings for provoking her earlier. At the dinner table, Ryu was held firmly on Jenny's lap, waiting to be fed. The biscuits were crispy and fragrant, but a bit tough for his infant teeth.
"Treecko," he said, pointing to the small bowl of milk on the table. Jenny picked it up, but Ryu just took the biscuit from her hand and dipped it in the milk to soften it.
"You're quite smart," Jenny smiled, poking his head.
As he ate, Ryu's attention was focused on the Skitty. She sat on the table, mouth open, demanding to be fed by Sora. If the feeding was too slow, she would thump her large tail on the table in displeasure. This Skitty had clearly been pampered since birth and had developed a serious case of "princess syndrome."
'Against this kind of fellow, just a beating might not be enough,' Ryu thought, an evil smile appearing on his face. He got up, walked over to Skitty's plate, picked up a biscuit, dipped it in her milk, and tossed it into his mouth.
"Meow!" Skitty jumped up, anxious and angry.
"Slow hands get nothing, understand?" Ryu said, grabbing another biscuit.
"Meow..." The Skitty, not daring to actually fight him, buried her head in her plate and began to eat quickly, finally giving Sora a chance to eat her own dinner.
After Officer Jenny left, Sora was dragged into the backyard by Skitty to play with a ball.
'The old lady has been running around all day, and now she still has to play with you?' Ryu thought, annoyed. He followed them, brought a chair for Sora to sit on, and picked up the ball himself.
"I'll play with you!"
"Meow..." Skitty saw the fierce look in his eyes and shrank back.
"Catch this!" Ryu grinned, tossing the ball up and hitting it with a "heavy" Pound from his tail.
Pat.
A gentle sound rang out, and the ball flew slowly through the air.
"Meow~" Seeing that he wasn't causing trouble, Skitty happily chased after it.
Ryu, however, stood panting. He had used all his strength, but his full-power attack could barely hit the ball. He hadn't realized he was so weak.
"Hehehe..." Sora chuckled gently from her chair. Her movements were elegant, reminding Ryu of what Liz might be like as an old woman. He was momentarily stunned. He rested for a bit, then stood up, deciding to just play along.
Soon, the other Pokémon in the yard joined in, and the evening became lively and joyful. Sora rested her chin on her hand, watching them play with a happy smile.
As the sky grew darker, the spring night wind became chilly. "Cough, cough..." Sora coughed twice, tightening her clothes.
Ryu saw this and walked over, pulling on her pants leg and gesturing toward the house.
"Oh my, is Treecko worried about Grandma?" she smiled, picking him up.
"Yes," he nodded frankly.
"Hey, stop playing, it's bedtime!" he called out to the other Pokémon. They all understood and returned to their nests. Skitty, however, still wanted to play and gave him an angry look.
"What's wrong with you?" Ryu frowned, and a terrifying aura emanated from his body—the aura of a creature who had survived for years on Mt. Silver.
"Meow..." Skitty didn't dare meet his gaze, lowered her head, and obediently walked towards the house.
Sora was a little troubled, worried that Ryu would be ostracized by the others, but he didn't care. He wouldn't be staying here for long. Besides, he now had an idea of how to deal with Skitty's attitude. But that would have to wait until he was out of his infant stage.
