Chapter 101: United, We Are Invincible (4)

[Hurricane]!

Alan took advantage of the Beedrill's momentary stun, flapping his wings to unleash his ultimate flying-type move.

Buzz!

At that moment, a blinding light shone from the Beedrill. It was a [Flash]. Alan's eyes felt a sharp pain, and he instinctively closed them. When he opened them a split second later, the Beedrill had used its incredible speed to appear beside him, its massive stinger extended.

[Poison Jab].

A flash of purple energy, and the stinger plunged into Alan's left abdomen. He gritted his teeth, seized the Beedrill's stinger with one hand, and swung his right fist, now glowing with chilling energy.

[Ice Punch].

His fist landed squarely on the Beedrill's head, but the creature didn't flinch. It simply tilted its head and thrusted its tail stinger.

[Poison Jab].

[Safeguard].

Another stinger plunged into his abdomen. Thankfully, Safeguard prevented him from being poisoned.

"Lv. 65," Alan assessed after the exchange. The gap was too large to overcome. He could only try to stall.

The Beedrill, a thin layer of ice now forming on its face, broke free. Alan, ignoring his injuries, used [Extreme Speed] to ram into it, then used [Wrap] with his arms, dragging the overlord towards the sea.

But he underestimated its strength. The Beedrill created just enough space to get away. Alan, seeing his chance slip, unleashed a [Thunder]. The lightning bolt crashed down, paralyzing the Beedrill.

He tried to retreat into the sea, but several clumps of white silk suddenly stuck to his wings. It was a [String Shot]. The silk was incredibly tough; he couldn't break it. He tried to burn it with Fire Spin, but the Beedrill was already upon him.

In an instant, the three stingers on the Beedrill's body moved like a sewing machine, a series of vicious strikes that rapidly tore through his scales. Blood rained down from his body. His vision began to darken.

'It's... not even on the same level.'

"Liz... I might die here."

"SCYTHER!!"

A familiar voice rang out. Alan lifted his head. The Beedrill suddenly went numb as a pair of sharp scythes cut into its wings.

"Scyther?" Supporting him was his old friend, along with nine other Scyther who had surrounded the battlefield. "Why are you here?"

"I can't run... I have to kill it, Scyther. I need your help," Alan said, his gaze firm. Liz had said this war must not be lost. If this Beedrill returned to Sakaki, her future would be in danger. Since he was going to die anyway...

I offer my life for my queen.

"...Scyther (With you and me united, we are invincible)." The old warrior's pupils trembled, then he nodded heavily.

"Heh, that's right," Alan grinned. "Tell your kin to stay back and ambush from the side."

"Buzz..." The Beedrill's eyes shifted. It knew it probably couldn't escape.

[Hone Claws]. The Beedrill rubbed its stingers.

[Hone Claws]. Alan rubbed his hands.

"Scyther!" His friend rushed out first, creating dozens of images with [Double Team].

The Beedrill unleashed a Pin Missile, piercing through many of the fakes, while the other Scyther attacked from a distance with [Air Slash].

[Scale Shot].

Orange-yellow scales shot out from under the sea, forcing the Beedrill to retreat—right into the path of the real Scyther.

[X-Scissor].

The double scythes cut cleanly into its already damaged wings. The Beedrill found it difficult to maintain its balance.

Swish.

Alan surged from the water, delivering two consecutive [Ice Punches] that slammed into the Beedrill's back, freezing the base of its wings. He then wrapped his arms tightly around the creature and rammed it toward the sea surface.

The Beedrill struggled with all its might. The moment they hit the water, it finally broke free and plunged its stinger deep into Alan's chest.

[Facade]! With the user paralyzed, the move's power was doubled. The immense force pierced straight through him.

Plop.

Alan coughed up a mouthful of blood. He should have died, but a strange force kept him alive. "Focus Band," he grinned. Even as he was dying, his heart was filled with hope. This world had Liz, it had Koga... the Alliance Era would come.

"That new era won't welcome you," he smiled. "So, let's go down together."

He grabbed the Beedrill's damaged wing and forcefully dragged it down. The Beedrill struggled, but the lack of oxygen, the paralysis, and the intense pain made it impossible to break free.

Eventually, it breathed its last, sinking towards the dark seabed along with Alan.
