Chapter 95 - Entering the Kanto Region

Chapter 95: Entering the Kanto Region

Exploring the sea route was a boring task. At first, Alan enjoyed swimming with the various Water-type Pokémon, but the novelty soon wore off. The shallow sea was populated almost exclusively by Pokémon from the Kanto and Johto regions, and seeing the same species over and over became tedious.

"It's quite safe, though," he noted. The strongest Pokémon he encountered were only around Lv. 40. He did find a colony of Tentacruel whose territory blocked his chosen route. Knowing they would be a threat to the army, he gave them some "electrical therapy" and forcibly drove them to another location.

The speed of opening the route was much faster than he expected. In just three days, he had mapped a clear channel from Cherrygrove City to the Kanto mainland.

"What should I do with the remaining time? How about... secretly entering the Kanto Region to take a look?" he thought.

The next day, he flew into the Kanto region from the sea. He didn't head for the capital, the future Viridian City, but instead chose to go to a coastal city further east—the site of the future Fuchsia City.

After a long flight, he finally saw what could only be called Sekichiku Village. It was small, similar to Pallet Town in the anime. He landed in a small forest surrounding the village.

"Huh? Where did this big guy come from?" a voice suddenly startled him. He turned his head and saw a young man with purple hair in a nearby tree. "Whoa~ you're so big!" the young man said, jumping down and coming right up to Alan.

"...Whoa!" Alan spread his arms and shouted, trying to be intimidating.

"...Are you hungry?" To his surprise, the young man wasn't scared at all. He looked at Alan's belly, frowned, and took out a few fruits. "I see you can eat a lot. Have these to tide you over."

Alan took the fruits and started gnawing on them. It was mealtime, and he was indeed hungry.

"Haha, come with me," the young man smiled. "But you can't shout like that anymore. You might scare the other little guys."

"Hmm?" Alan looked at the young man curiously. He thought his appearance would terrify any human.

"What are you standing there for? Don't be afraid. Everyone here is very kind," the young man said, waving him over with a sunny smile.

"...Let's see," Alan hesitated for a moment, then followed.

The scene that followed left him stunned. As they walked through the village, the other villagers weren't afraid at all. They just teased the young man.

"Oh, look what big treasure you brought back, Koga."

"Not bad, Koga, you dare to bring such a big Pokémon home. You're not afraid of being eaten out of house and home?"

"Exactly! Look at that belly, it could fit the Tauros in my yard."

The villagers looked at Alan not as a "Magical Beast," but as one might look at a kitten or a puppy. Alan realized that the people of Sekichiku Village all seemed to be living alongside Pokémon.

What is going on?! The Earth Kingdom's attitude towards Pokémon shouldn't be this good. This village was unusual.

"We're almost there. My house is just ahead," Koga said, pointing to a small wooden house.

In the small yard of the seemingly poor young man, Alan saw a few... special Pokémon.
