Chapter 84 - Finally a Pseudo-Legendary

Chapter 84: Finally a Pseudo-Legendary

After the battle ended, a pure white light of evolution naturally enveloped Alan. The figure beneath the light gradually changed—not growing taller, but shorter and significantly wider.

Soon, the beautiful, elegant Dragonair was gone. In his place stood a huge, orange, chubby creature.

"Dragonite~~"

The evolved Alan was extremely excited, wiggling around in place. He lowered his head to take a look, then froze.

So big! So round! He poked himself in confusion. Biu~

There's a sound effect?! He looked closely but couldn't even see his own feet.

"Oh my goodness, what happened to my figure?" Alan's face paled, and he quickly opened his personal panel.

[Dragonite]

[Potential]: Gold

[Level]: Lv. 55

[Type]: Dragon / Flying

[Ability]: Inner Focus

[Height]: 6.6 m

[Weight]: 900 kg

[Held Items]: Mystic Water, Dragon Fang

[Moves]: ...

"900 kilograms?!"

Alan's face turned white, and he nearly fainted. This wasn't a Dragon; this was clearly a pig. However, as his gaze moved upward to his height, he found it a bit easier to accept. He was fat, but he was also tall! With this height, he was second only to the leader in the entire Dragonite Valley.

"Wuwuwu, I'm a fat Dragon," Alan wanted to cry but had no tears. A stream of snot flowed from his nostrils instead. He casually picked up a passing Furret, blew his nose on its tail, and then tossed it away.

The bewildered Furret looked at the sticky liquid on its fur, then glared angrily at Alan. However, when it realized it wasn't even as tall as the fat dragon's leg, it ran away, feeling wronged.

"Potential has turned gold... wait..."

Alan looked at the change and suddenly realized something. His "Potential" rating was directly tied to a Pokémon's base stat total. White, Green, Blue, Purple... and now Gold. Dragonite's base stat total of 600 had just pushed him into the "Gold" tier.

He skipped down to his typing. Dragon/Flying wasn't optimal, but it was far from bad. It was immune to Ground and had numerous resistances, especially to Bug-type Pokémon, which were everywhere in this era. Its only major weakness was a quadruple weakness to Ice, but Ice-type Pokémon were exceedingly rare. In this Monster Era, a Pokémon like Dragonite was destined to stand out.

His new ability, Inner Focus, prevented him from flinching or being Intimidated. Its real-world effects were likely tied to strong mental fortitude.

Further down, however, he noticed something strange. Wrap, Glare, Twister, and Thunder Wave had all disappeared from his moves list.

"This is nonsense, I didn't forget them," he muttered anxiously. He walked to a large tree and, concentrating, unleashed an invisible current of energy. A familiar buzz confirmed he could still use Thunder Wave. When he checked his panel again, the move had reappeared.

"So that's how it is."

He now understood. When some Pokémon evolve, they "forget" certain moves, which then have to be "recalled" from the depths of their memory. Because he had a human soul and a strong memory, he could re-master these forgotten moves instantly. He quickly used the other three, and they all returned to his list.

"I should be able to learn some more moves, too."

He recalled that Dragonite could learn signature moves like Thunder Punch, Fire Punch, and Extreme Speed through this same method.

"I'll figure it out when I get back. With my current speed, flying from the Royal Capital to the center of Mt. Silver shouldn't take more than an hour."

He looked at the two small wings on his back, then patted his "duang duang" belly. Can I even fly with this...?

He tried flapping his wings, and the next moment, he was airborne. He quickly mastered the knack for it and felt his weight wasn't a hindrance at all.

"Oh wu~" he cheered, flying excitedly through the air. Having hands and feet again felt wonderful.

"Hurricane... This is a powerful move. Let's try it."

His gaze fell on the very last move on his list. It was his only Flying-type move, but it was a big one. Hurricane was a wide-range special attack with a power of 110. In this era, where battles had no rules, Pokémon that could fly and attack from a distance held a massive advantage. He finally understood why trainers like Lance and Ash always had a powerful Flying-type on their team.

"Oh Ming~"

Alan flapped his wings, creating a turbulent Hurricane that ripped through the forest ahead like a bulldozer, showcasing its immense and devastating power. Strong!
