Chapter 82: You and I Join Forces, Invincible Under the Heavens (3)
Two months had passed in Dragonite Valley, and the world had entered winter again. Ryū had completely dedicated himself to his training, successively mastering Fire Spin, Surf, Dragon Dance, and Dragon Pulse.
"It's about time to leave," he mumbled to himself, looking at his reflection in a small lake.
"Ying?!" a surprised cry came from behind him. A graceful female Dragonair had snuck up on him, intending to startle him. For the past two months, she had been trying to court him, often by playfully wrapping her tail around his—a gesture he now knew was a sign of affection in their species.
He gently swatted her tail away. "As long as we're alive, we'll meet again. I'm leaving."
"Ying," she said sadly.
"Bye-bye."
Ryū said his goodbyes, called Golbat, and went to find the Dragonite leader. He had not only learned four new skills but had also gained a level. The leader was open-minded about his departure, instructing the Shiny Dragonite to escort him back.
When they approached the cave, the Shiny Dragonite gave Ryū a tearful hug and flew off, promising to visit. But Ryū knew he probably wouldn't be on Mt. Silver for much longer. He was Lv. 48, not far from the Lv. 55 needed for his own evolution.
Back at the cave, he found Scyther and the others locked in battle with a Beedrill colony.
"This is a guaranteed loss," Ryū noted.
The Beedrill colony's strongest member was only Lv. 45, but they had a dozen others at a similar level, and their strength was in their sheer numbers. Scyther now had six companions, but they were vastly outnumbered. His old friend, who had impressively reached Lv. 48 himself, was single-handedly holding off six high-level Beedrill.
[Thunderbolt]
Against a swarm of Flying-types, no move was better. A massive bolt of lightning crashed down, instantly electrocuting a large group of the attackers.
"Scyther?"
"Yo, long time no see," Ryū grinned. "Let's deal with this group first. Remember, you and I join forces..."
"Scyther (Invincible under the heavens)," his friend finished with a smile. Everything was understood without words.
"Buzz!" Seeing a new enemy, the fifty or sixty remaining Beedrill swarmed forward as one.
"Whoa! Are these Beedrill crazy?! Fly higher!" Ryū shouted, startled. He quickly protected Golbat and swung his tail.
[Surf]
A massive wave, 8 meters high, rose from the ground and crashed outwards in all directions, wiping out many of the low-level Beedrill. It was the kind of massive area-of-effect attack that the Scyther desperately lacked.
"Use Astonish to participate," Ryū told Golbat, allowing him to get a share of the experience.
When the battle ended, the Beedrill lay scattered, and Golbat had instantly jumped 3 levels to Lv. 23.
"What's with these Beedrill?" Ryū asked Scyther. "Are they all so dishonorable?"
"Scyther, Scyther~" The old warrior shook his head. He explained that, starting about twenty years ago, all the Beedrill colonies on Mt. Silver had changed their tactics from honorable one-on-one duels to ganging up on their enemies.
Twenty years ago.
Ryū remembered that was the time of his first life. A cold sweat broke out on his forehead as he realized he might be the cause of this dishonorable trend.

My apologies for the lack of updates; it's been over two weeks since I last uploaded this novel. I'm finally able to post again, and I will do my best to maintain a consistent daily upload schedule from now on.
As of right now, I am doing a mass release of all chapters up to 150. I would normally schedule one chapter every 30 minutes, but scheduling that many would be too time-consuming, so I have uploaded them all at once for you to enjoy.
