I didn't wake up until it was close to lunchtime the next day. Alex was lying beside me, one hand resting on my head, the other folded behind his own. His eyes stared straight ahead, calm and steady. He must have been awake for a long time, but he hadn't disturbed me just stayed there, quietly watching, quietly waiting.
