Alex drove me to the address I had given him. He seemed to know the city well, guiding me near my home without using the GPS I had provided. My old home, to be exact.
Through the window, I could see the pitch-black asphalt road and the trees swaying in the night wind. The sign in front of me became clearer and clearer. I looked up and saw Sterling Manor.
Sterling,my family name. The realization made my heart tighten, and an uneasy chill ran through me. Fear began to return, and I told Alex to stop the car.
"Are you okay?" Alex touched my forehead. "You're so cold!"
"I'm fine." I took off his jacket and pulled out my old clothes from the bag, quickly changing. I couldn't go inside wearing bright clothes,it would be against the rules.
"Rhea, can you tell me what you're doing?" Alex's voice was strained, his brow furrowed as he grabbed my hand just as I pushed the door open. "Don't leave me!"
