Chapter 28 - "The Fall of Sheila"

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

"Hahaha! Revenge for that useless father? You've gotta be kidding me!"

Hearing Esdeath's words, Sheila burst into a twisted laugh.

That old man…The best thing he ever did was die.

If the person standing before him could control the Empire with sheer power…Then why couldn't he?

"I don't know what you're talking about," Black eye said coldly, "but since you're an enemy… you die."

Under Edgar's training, she had already mastered the use of magic. With a raised hand, magical energy gathered in her palm.

In the next instant—A beam of magic shot straight toward Sheila on the roof.

Buzz!

A brilliant flash lit up the air—And then the beam simply vanished, as if erased from existence.

"Haha! With this Teigu in my hands, I'm practically invincible!"

Sheila proudly revealed his Teigu: Dimensional Square – Shangri-La.

Edgar's eyes immediately locked onto it.

In this world, there weren't many Teigu that could impress him.But this one? Definitely one of them.

After all—it was a Teigu that controlled space itself.

Sure, some demons had teleportation magic, but it was only good for travel—completely unsuitable for battle.

"Oh? Interested in my Teigu?"

Noticing Edgar's gaze, Sheila gave a feral grin."Don't bother. The only weakness of this thing is that it burns through stamina too fast… But now—"

He pulled out a syringe and stabbed it hard into his neck.

Buzz!

Instantly, countless space coordinates spread out from Sheila, covering almost the entire Imperial Capital.

"You're really that confident?" Edgar's smile was half amused, half mocking.

"Hahaha! Can't you see?" Sheila laughed. "Sure, killing Budo shows you've got some skill… But under my Dimensional Square, you won't even get close to me—"

Bang! … Splatter!

A head flew through the air like a cannonball, bursting into gore midair.

The whole area went dead silent.

Sheila's subordinates, who had been ready to act at any moment, froze in shock.Seryu, her face twisted with hatred, stood stunned.

They all stared at Sheila's headless body, their pupils widening in disbelief.

"The Teigu's great… but the user's too weak."

Edgar now stood on the roof, holding the Dimensional Square in his hand.

So what if you can teleport? If your reflexes can't keep up, you won't even get the chance to use it.

"Sheila… died? Just like that?"

"Is this some kind of sick joke?"

Izō and the others exchanged looks, seeing pure fear in each other's eyes.

Sheila's Dimensional Square had been their biggest trump card. And now, in just a single moment, he was dead. The Teigu was gone.

Looking at the cold, expressionless Edgar in the distance, they felt sweat soaking their backs.

Fight? Not a chance in hell.

Without a word, they all turned and fled in different directions.

"Esdeath, Black eye," Edgar ordered calmly, "don't let them escape."

"Yes, Master."

The two women vanished from sight instantly.

"Useless trash," Seiryu muttered with disgust, the only one still standing in place. "They can't even uphold justice."

"Oh? And you think you represent justice?" Edgar chuckled. "In the end, you're just using the name of justice to feed your own desires."

"What do you know, you treasonous criminal?" Seiryu glared at him. "Today, I'll carry out justice's judgment—on you!"

"Kill him, Koro!"

At her shout, the little dog by her side leapt forward. It was, of course, her Teigu—Beast Transformation: Hekatonkheires.

ROAR!

Koro let out an earth-shaking howl as its body swelled larger and larger—until, in the blink of an eye, a towering monster several meters tall lunged at Edgar, jaws wide.

"Really? You think something like that can kill me?"

Edgar shook his head, raised his arm—

Buzz!

Scarlet energy gathered in his palm, and a crimson beam blasted out, swallowing the giant whole.

BOOM!

The explosion rocked the surroundings, sending violent shockwaves everywhere.

"ROAR—!"

A single, agonized scream came from the blast… then silence.

Seiryu stood frozen, lips trembling. "K… Koro…"

"It's already dead. No point calling it."

"Aaaahhh! I'll kill you!!!"

Like a madwoman, Seiryu launched herself at Edgar, throwing a punch straight at him.

"Naïve."

He sidestepped easily, grabbed her head with one hand, and smashed it down onto the roof edge.

BAM!

With a muffled groan, her eyes rolled back and she collapsed, unconscious.

Edgar grabbed her by the collar and jumped down from the roof.

Not long after, Esdeath and Black eye returned.

Esdeath's clothes were spotless, casually holding two frozen heads.Black eye trailed behind with a few lifeless corpses.

"Looks like it's all cleaned up," Edgar said, still holding the limp Seiryu. "Well, mood's ruined. We'll continue the date next time."

"Alright, Master."

...

In the palace quarters.

As soon as they returned, Edgar tossed the unconscious Seiryu onto the carpet.

Black eye glanced at her curiously. "Master, why didn't you just kill her? Why bring her back?"

Esdeath raised a brow. "Don't tell me… you're planning to make her your servant?"

"Half right," Edgar said with a snap of his fingers. "More accurately… I want to run an experiment."

He had already checked—Seiryu had the potential to become a servant.

Now he wanted to see—If someone who hated him to the core, and wasn't willing at all… could still be turned into one.

"..."
