I
start gearing up for my travel, we all wear a suit required by AI when on assignment,
it is basically an entity of its own, carrying a very powerful processor, it
communicates with AI periodically via satellites. It is white in color, feels
like silk but is tough like Kevlar, with thin strands of gold woven in about
six inches apart, on the exterior, it is basically like a long flowing tunic
with loose sleeves, it also has a brimmed hat attached, and a built-in back
rack allowing the attachment of an array of solar panels that deploy like a Chinese
fan. Lastly a very thick staff.
Starting
with the hat, it's primary purpose is to block our contact with pathogens when
sensors on the suit detect harmful pathogens it emits a halo of UV light,
disinfecting the dress and the areas in close proximity. It also has a set of small
powerful lasers facing front and back, with a small turret about three inches
in diameter and a half inch tall, the processor has a 360 view of all the
activity. It can and will act in our defense, on its own, if a threat is
detected.
The
tunic is not bullet proof but will stop a sharp object, and when activated it
will deliver a powerful shock to anything that touches it, it is really useful
in bug invested areas, although it can shock you as well if its live and you
forget. It also has forced air ventilation which can heat or cool if it senses
the body is in distress.
The
blades on the solar panels interlock, when deployed they can form a flat shape
for charging, a wing shape for short glides, to a bowl shape for shelter, fully
deployed they span about twelve feet. Inverted it can be used to catch water
and refill the staff.
The
staff is fairly simple, it not only serves as a water storage, but it can also
be extended to twelve feet in length rather violently, if need be, and can be
fitted into wings of the solar panel for extended glides, this is particularly
useful for air drops, coming into a colonies area with as little noise as
possible.
Under
the tunic I adorn my six-foot frame, with cotton shirts and pants, a belt made
from a double layer of braided parachute cord, roughly fifty feet unbraided. My
feet are covered with basically a very close weaved sandal with a thick rubber
sole, keeps my feet protected but allows the shoes to dry out while walking.
On
my belt I carry a survival knife, and a tube of special wafers. It's encouraged
to live off the land, but the wafers are very dense nutrients that bolster the
immune system and can be used to survive for up to two weeks.
Since
I'm basically of mixed genetic background my skin color is dark brown, I train in
combat constantly and my physical limits are known, without any of this gear I
should be able to survive, my eyes are dark brown, vision perfect, I am at no
disadvantage to physically overpowering any opponent. My education is
equivalent of a medical doctor, and I'm not alone, all of Bunker personnel are
similarly trained. It is hard not to help the colonists, watching them
gathering food, wood, making clothes from animal skins. It's like having
adopted families, children, their development makes you proud, many struggle
with the harsh conditions, but all assistance requires approval. The struggle
is their training ground.
