Chapter 7 - Morning Departure

Time flies, like a white horse passing through the gap.

In the blink of an eye, another day passed.

As the early morning sun bathed Konoha in its golden warmth, Minato Namikaze was being relentlessly called out of bed by his wife, Kushina.

"Minato, aren't you going out on a mission today? Hurry up!!"

Still tangled in his sheets, Wukunowa—now living within Minato's body—grumbled sleepily, "Just let me sleep a bit longer… I was exhausted last night."

Kushina's face instantly flushed crimson. Of course, she understood what he meant. Her expression flickered between embarrassment and annoyance. This guy… he really bullied me too much last night.

She pouted with puffed cheeks but couldn't suppress the laughter bubbling under her breath. It was rare to see Minato act spoiled like this.

Ten minutes later, with no success dragging him out, Kushina's gaze landed on the alarm clock.

A mischievous smile curled her lips.

"Hmph, let's see you sleep through this!"

She set the alarm and placed it right next to Minato's ear.

"JINGLE BELLS!!!!"

The sharp, shrill noise exploded like thunder from the heavens. Wukunowa's eyes snapped open, his entire body jerking upright so suddenly he nearly fell out of bed.

"Hmph, awake now?" Kushina crossed her arms, laughing at his disheveled look.

"I give up! I give up!" he laughed weakly. "Alright, I'm up!"

With a stretch and yawn, Wukunowa dragged himself into the bathroom.

Despite the mundanity, this daily rhythm was filled with warmth—a kind of life he hadn't known in his previous world. And perhaps… a life he was starting to treasure.

After a quick breakfast, Wukunowa slung his ninja pack over his shoulder. Kushina walked beside him, carrying a neatly packed bento in both hands.

"Minato, be careful, alright? I don't want you getting hurt just for a mission," she said firmly.

"Heh, don't worry. I'm the Golden Flash of Konoha, remember?" he winked, tapping her forehead playfully.

"You're always so cocky…" she huffed, but a smile slipped through.

They paused at the village gate. Wukunowa looked at her, his eyes soft and solemn.

"I'll finish this mission quickly and return to you. That's a promise."

Kushina blushed and nodded, gripping his hand tightly.

At the same time, another trio approached the gate.

"Obito, what do you think our mission is?" Rin asked curiously. "The teacher didn't tell us much yesterday."

Obito rubbed his head. "Might be something related to the border—he mentioned some tension."

"Hmm, he's always so mysterious!"

They shared a laugh as they strolled, but Rin suddenly gasped in delight.

"Obito! The teacher said Kakashi would be joining us this time!"

Obito blinked. "Kakashi? Seriously?"

"Yeah! He's been promoted to jōnin! Isn't that amazing?"

Obito winced. "Tch… that smug bastard…"

Rin quickly tried to reassure him, "Don't be like that. Kakashi's a genius, we can't help it."

Her innocent praise made Obito's stomach twist.

Why does it hurt when she talks about him like that…?

She continued, "Maybe we should give him a gift? I mean… we used to be a team."

Obito scoffed quietly, looking away. "Gift? For that guy? No way…"

Before long, they arrived at the village gate and spotted familiar figures.

"Wow, it's the teacher, Kushina-san, and Kakashi! They beat us here!"

Rin sprinted forward. Obito trailed behind, his expression darkening slightly.

"Rin… do you really like Kakashi…?"
