Chapter 66: Tang San Wants to Repay Sister Bibi Dong by Giving Her and Qian Renxue a Warm Home
Tang San wasn't stupid. He could tell that Zhu Zhuqing and Ning Rongrong were both interested in him. Every time they secretly glanced at him, Tang San knew it, but he pretended not to notice.
Ultimately, whether it was Zhu Zhuqing or Ning Rongrong, Tang San planned to make them confess their feelings first, then keep them hooked, treating them like older or younger sisters, ensuring they continued to vie for his affection. Initiating anything himself was out of the question. If he established a relationship with Ning Rongrong or Zhu Zhuqing, he'd lose the freedom to flirt with other girls. Otherwise, he'd be too obviously a scumbag, like Dai Mubai.
While this approach was inherently manipulative, it was subtle. It might be noticeable on Blue Star, but on Douluo Continent, it was par for the course. Tang San believed this would only intensify the competition among Xiao Wu, Zhu Zhuqing, and Ning Rongrong, each wanting to be his one and only.
The hut had become a battleground for the three girls, and once Hu Liena, Qian Renxue, and Bibi Dong joined the fray, things would get even more interesting. Later, Huo Wu, Shui Bing'er, and even Poseidon might enter the mix.
To Tang San, this all seemed perfectly reasonable and full of positive energy. There was nothing wrong with it; he was the protagonist, after all. He'd ultimately take responsibility for them, even introducing them to his parents, Tang Hao and Ah Yin. Tang Hao might be furious, but Ah Yin would surely protect him.
With that in mind, Tang San's worries melted away.
He tidied up the shabby hut, pulling out his bedding from Three Lives Three Worlds: Moonlit Night and spreading it on the small bed. Ignoring the leaky roof, he lay down, content. The hut might be shabby, but at least it didn't stink.
Tang San's real fear had been sharing a room with Niu Dagang, Yu Xiaogang's odorous apprentice. So when Dai Mubai offered him this unfinished hut, he'd agreed instantly.
As Tang San had anticipated, Dai Mubai regretted his decision. At the official trainee dormitories, Dai Mubai slapped his forehead, muttering, "I should've known better than to let Tang San stay in that shabby hut. Wouldn't it have been better to make him share with that farting wretch, Niu Dagang? Now he's got his own space, and I'm stuck arranging for this guy."
Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, and Zhu Zhuqing had settled into their dormitories, leaving Dai Mubai with only the portly, crew-cut Niu Dagang. With no other choice, Dai Mubai took Niu Dagang to Oscar's quarters.
Oscar was lounging in his dorm when a foul whiff hit him. He saw Niu Dagang, the chubby, crew-cut man, walk in with a chuckle.
"What… why are you here?" Oscar covered his nose, shocked as Niu Dagang lunged at him, hugging his small frame and shouting excitedly.
"Senior Oscar, I want to live with you! Your sausages are so strong—they'll make my soul skills even more powerful. After eating your big healing sausage, I was craving more, but you ran off. Living with you, I'll eat sausages all the time!"
The 180-pound Niu Dagang squeezed the skinny Oscar, genuinely thrilled.
Oscar struggled, covering his nose, but as a food-type soul master, he lacked the strength to break free. He turned to Dai Mubai for help. "Boss Dai, get this guy out! How can he stay at Shrek? Even if he does, put him somewhere else!"
Oscar was near tears, feeling that Niu Dagang, who hadn't showered in months, was unbearable.
Dai Mubai knew Oscar's plight but was helpless. "There's nothing we can do. The teachers and Vice-Dean said he's a direct disciple of a master… Even the Dean has to give that guy face, so they let him stay. Bear with it for now. I'll move him to Fatty's place in a few days."
Dai Mubai figured Ma Hongjun's unstable Evil Fire Phoenix might pair better with Niu Dagang, but for now, it was too risky. With that, he left, unwilling to linger near the stinking Niu Dagang.
Oscar's dormitory quieted down, but soon the sounds of their conversation resumed.
"Niu Dagang, junior, can you take a shower? It stinks, and you must feel uncomfortable," Oscar pleaded, hoping persuasion might work.
But it didn't. "I won't bathe," Niu Dagang declared, shaking his head firmly. "My teacher, Yu Xiaogang, said he didn't bathe for three years. Uncle Sanpao's farts were so powerful, he once killed two Soul Kings with one blast, paralyzing a group of Soul Masters. So, my teacher said, to perfect my Soul Skill: Niu Dagang's Fart, I must never bathe. That way, my farts and Blue Silver Grass will stink up enemy Soul Masters. I must learn from him…"
Oscar was devastated, unable to fathom what kind of person could produce such a disciple.
Tang San, however, knew exactly who. In his view, Niu Dagang was Yu Xiaogang's most successful disciple, a perfect match crafted by the Hunyuan Wuji Dao System.
In his dilapidated hut, Tang San thought of Yu Xiaogang and breathed in the fresh air, sighing, "It's still comfortable here. Even with a leaky roof, I can see the stars."
Lying on his small bed, Tang San gazed at the starry sky. All he needed was a woman by his side.
"If only Sister Bibi Dong were here…" he mused, wondering if she'd protect him in this drafty hut.
Maybe… Tang San remembered Bibi Dong's deep, fragrant kiss on his forehead when she left. Even now, he savored it. Bibi Dong was kind, and she had killed Qianxunji, the man who drove his mother, Ah Yin, to her death. Tang San felt he owed her and Qian Renxue a warm home.
Late at night, Tang San's thoughts wandered to these women, but his fingers twitched, and his eyes turned hazy golden-purple. "It's my father, Tang Hao…"
Tang San's face changed. He sensed Tang Hao's anger moving swiftly nearby, heading toward the academy. During the fight with Zhao Wuji, Tang San knew Tang Hao was watching, but after entering the hut, he'd sensed Tang Hao leave. Now, his sudden return puzzled Tang San. Was he going to confront Zhao Wuji, as in the original story?
But that didn't add up. Tang San hadn't been at a disadvantage against Zhao Wuji. Using the Great Shift of the Universe and the Clear Sky Hammer, he'd made Zhao Wuji bleed. Logically, Tang Hao shouldn't be seeking trouble.
...
Tang San sat up, his Divine Eye scanning the surroundings. The night was quiet, but the air felt charged with tension. He knew Hu Liena was still lurking nearby, and Bibi Dong's arrival was only a matter of time. The three girls—Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, and Zhu Zhuqing—had already shown their loyalty, but their growing interest in him was a complication he needed to manage carefully.
Outside, Xiao Wu crept back toward Tang San's hut, unable to stay away. "Third Brother's alone in that dump," she muttered, her heart racing. She reached the door but hesitated, sensing another presence.
Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing, having slipped away from the girls' dormitory, were also nearby. Ning Rongrong whispered, "We need to get closer to him. He's hiding something big, and I'm not letting Zhuqing beat me to it."
Zhu Zhuqing's eyes glinted in the dark. "He's more than he seems. I'll find out his secrets, but I'll do it my way."
The two exchanged a competitive glance, each determined to win Tang San's trust—and perhaps more.
Inside, Tang San sensed their approach and smirked. "Looks like I'm popular tonight," he murmured, preparing to handle the trio while keeping his true power hidden.
Suddenly, a powerful aura surged closer—Tang Hao. Tang San's expression hardened. His father wasn't heading for Zhao Wuji but straight for the hut. "What's he planning?" Tang San wondered, gripping the edge of his bed.
From the woods, Hu Liena watched, her fox-like smile unwavering. "Tang San, you're drawing too many eyes," she whispered. "Bibi Dong will be here soon, and I'll make sure you're mine before she claims you."
Tang Hao stopped just outside the hut, his Clear Sky Hammer glowing faintly. "Xiao San," he called softly, his voice heavy with suspicion. "We need to talk. Now."
The Shura Field was escalating, with Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, Zhu Zhuqing, and Hu Liena circling, and Bibi Dong's arrival looming. Tang San's plans to repay Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue with a "warm home" were about to face their greatest test.
