Chapter 12 - Hitting it rich (pt.2)

Loadon walked over to the area where he left the materials and the Butler mecha, lifted it under his arm, carried the bags, and walked toward the exit.

Iseul, after calming down, wiped her tears.

Then she berated herself for her weakness and crying in front of a bunch of Drainrats like that.

She felt humiliated and angry for not remembering she had bubbled up her powers and wasn't completely helpless anymore.

Although she hadn't tried using her Gift to attack anybody or to create attack moves, she could've thought of something—she could've tried anything.

She dwelled on this for a while, feeling many mixed emotions.

'Is this all you got? Is this the extent of your abilities? Your potential?'

Iseul asked herself these questions, truly wanting to know the answer. But she refused to accept that this was all she had, and that this was the extent of her abilities and potential.

Determination filled her bones and her spirit.

Never again would this happen—never again would she freeze up and be in such a pathetic position.

Never again would she nor others look down on her like some low-level patchslag or ratscap.

She was always going to work hard to make this Gift truly her own.

Having decided this, she turned her attention to her hero.

Loadon.

Thinking of this, she placed her hand on his head and rubbed it as she spoke.

"Thank you so much, Loadon. If it weren't for you, I would've definitely been bullied by that group." She expressed her utmost, sincere gratitude.

"Loadon is always happy and satisfied to be of use to my Creator!" he said humbly.

Iseul thought she was hearing things when she noticed pride and joy in his tone.

'Mhm, maybe keeping him wouldn't be so bad. She could afford it.'

"Loadon, let's go home." She told him the coordinates to her homestead.

They had to ride Loadon, as there were no more ships coming in or going out of the scrapyard.

It didn't take long for them to make it to her homestead. With such a large machine taking such steps, they arrived quickly.

Loadon placed Iseul on the floor steadily.

He also placed the Butler mecha aside and the bags with metals and miscellaneous junk.

Iseul began climbing the ladder of the back entrance that led straight to their rooftop.

Forgetting she was with Loadon again, Iseul paused and turned around—only to see Loadon had shrunken in size to that of a synthetic droid.

It was only a few inches taller than her.

Iseul's eyes widened in shock!

What the hell is going on?! What happened to its large size? Did it become like this itself?

She felt like she was going to faint from too many stresses weighing on her heart.

Forget it.

She didn't have the strength to mull over it.

She was hungry and tired and wanted to cuddle her sweet dongsaeng Yong-Woo and forget about the day's events until tomorrow.

Iseul waved it off and motioned to Loadon to be quiet so as not to wake her siblings.

She had him carry everything inside, leaving the Butler mecha on the roof in the corner, covered by old drying blankets.

"Sleep out here. I don't want to freak my brothers out, okay?"

[Affirmative. Loadon will follow Creator's wishes,] he said simply, just standing there lonely-looking.

Feeling bad, Iseul told him to wait.

Rubbing her hands together nervously, wiping off the sweat gathering on her palms, she was about to attempt creating something in reality.

She wanted to build a bed using some of the scrap metal and cloth to make him feel a bit more welcome—to repay him for saving her.

She pulled out a couple large pieces from the space bags she had bought earlier before leaving the scrapyard.

Channeling and feeling her Infinita Force forward, she brought it to her hands and began to picture a simple, single bed.

This took her 15 minutes and strained her a bit, causing sweat to drip down from her forehead.

After finishing the bed, she moved over to the fabric and did the same thing—willing it into the form of a blanket and pillow, using the old cloth and clothes, reforming and patching it together.

Making this almost completely drained the rest of her energy.

But having learned from her last mistake, she did not allow herself to run empty.

"Uussh…" She took a deep breath and realized she was able to sense the surrounding radiation very clearly.

It almost seemed to buzz to life when she focused her attention on it.

'Come to me,' she thought silently.

And surely enough, the surrounding radiation began to come, being absorbed into her body.

Her Gift shook with enjoyment and contentment.

Iseul allowed herself to soak in the euphoric feeling of that high, that drunkenness that made her feel so light and bathed in warmth.

This went on for a while before she opened her eyes, seeing Loadon watching her with his mechanical, curious eyes.

"This is for you." She patted the bed and blanket and pointed to the pillow.

"You lay here like this." She demonstrated quickly.

"And you cover your body like this." She showed him how to lift the covers over his body.

"It's much more comfortable laying down than standing up."

Iseul continued chatting with him as she made his bed, then guided him over, sat him down, and motioned for him to lay.

She tucked him in, saying good night, and disappeared inside, yawning and waving.

He waved at her back, though she couldn't see it.

'Mm… what an interesting Creator,' Loadon mused, looking around the rooftop, then feeling the texture of the blanket on his bed.

Iseul head striaght to her bed after a quick shower then hugged yong-woo luring herself to sleep.

Unaware of the huge stirr she caused after leaving the scrapyard.
