MHGA Chapter 391: The Black and White Hero

Without hesitation, Kairo Retsu entrusted his ongoing tasks to Kazuma, despite Kazuma's furious protests in their group chat. Wearing his Stealth Armor, he infiltrated Mitakihara Middle School, currently filled with young students.

It was still afternoon, classes hadn't ended yet, allowing Kairo Retsu to smoothly sneak in and locate the basement housing the Witch Barrier, guided by Winged Lion.

"Phew…"

Facing the Witch Barrier, Kairo Retsu took a deep breath and took out a string of Nulberries from his bag, hanging them around his neck, ready to counteract the Frenzy Virus at any time.

According to Winged Lion, the barrier was already filled with highly concentrated Frenzy Virus, and entering meant certain infection.

Thus, Kairo Retsu had to prepare himself to resist the onset of the Frenzy Virus.

"I'm ready."

Taking another deep breath, he entered the Witch Barrier, immediately engulfed by dense black fog.

The overwhelming dark mist was choking, and despite instantly covering his mouth and nose, Kairo Retsu inhaled a breath mixed with the virus.

A burning sensation spread from his lungs to his limbs, as the Frenzy Virus instinctively began extracting nutrients, aiming to drain the host's vitality.

Immediately recognizing the symptoms, Kairo Retsu quickly chewed a Nulberry.

"Cough, cough…"

Covering his mouth and nose, Kairo Retsu navigated through the virus-filled fog until spotting a flash of gold.

In the distorted Witch Barrier, the Chaotic Gore Magala's transforming golden claw and horn stood out starkly.

Approaching it, Kairo Retsu finally realized how severe the Chaotic Gore Magala's injuries were.

Its partially evolved right claw remained intact, but the left was nearly severed, with deep wounds almost tearing it off.

The dragon bore claw wounds so deep the bones were visible, dried blood covering them, yet no new tissue regenerated.

On its neck was a savage bite wound, faint breaths leaking from it, showing just how precarious its condition was.

"As expected from an Elder Dragon's juvenile form… Such incredible vitality."

Swallowing nervously, Kairo Retsu quickly took out a Potion from his bag, carefully pouring it onto the wound on the dragon's neck.

The Potion's potent life energy rapidly penetrated the dragon's body like refreshing rain on parched earth, slowly mending the neck wound.

Seeing improvement, he hastily applied more Potions. Once the neck wound was largely healed, he fed the dragon Nulberries and a Max Potion.

The Nulberries would mitigate the Frenzy Virus within the dragon, ensuring its ability to swallow normally after treating the neck wound.

The medicines had remarkable effects; even the dragon's severely torn claw began regenerating slowly as fresh tissue emerged from dried wounds.

As the Chaotic Gore Magala revived, intense pain surged from the conflicting energies within, causing it to writhe restlessly.

Kairo Retsu quickly pulled the trapped Witch away, tossing it to Winged Lion for safekeeping. He then gently placed his hand on the dragon, hoping to soothe its agitation.

Feeling this gentle touch, the dragon recognized that the being beside it was not the Shagaru Magala that nearly killed it, but the small lifeform who once fought alongside it.

Thus, the Chaotic Gore Magala ceased struggling, lowering its head to silently endure its internal torment.

"…"

With a solemn expression, Kairo Retsu rested his hand on the dragon, sensing its life rhythm.

Blood still flowed resiliently, and its previously weak heart gradually strengthened with renewed energy.

If only… it wasn't the carrier of the Frenzy Virus, not the Chaotic Gore Magala.

Its existence wouldn't be so incompatible, nor would it suffer such agony.

"You carry a sense of regret."

Winged Lion approached Kairo Retsu, asking, "What are you thinking?"

"I'm wondering if there's a way to achieve both goals," Kairo Retsu paused. "A method that allows it to live and coexist peacefully with nature."

"It's already surpassed its initial instinct as a Gore Magala, reaching for something higher, yet fate locks it in such… torment."

"If it were merely a disruptive monster, our relationship would be simple," Kairo Retsu looked at the dragon. "But it's resisting, deliberately restricting its virus. Its intelligence recognizes it as a disaster and actively rejects it."

"How can we simply treat it as another hunting target under these circumstances?"

Kairo Retsu sighed deeply. "But I can't think of a solution. Winged Lion… Can you save it?"

"I understand nothing about these monsters," Winged Lion replied bluntly. "If it were a human I knew, I'd just create a new magical body."

"But without fully understanding creatures like this, any attempt would result in inferior replicas, like the ones you encountered when you defeated me in the Dungeon."

"It seems there's no miracle or magic around me for this," Kairo Retsu sighed heavily. "Miracles… really are luxuries."

"I like it too," Winged Lion smiled softly. "If I were to judge, its taste probably resembles Tanjiro's."

"…That makes me want to save it from its terrible fate even more," Kairo Retsu gently touched the platinum horn on the dragon's right forehead. "Such a… heroic creature."
