~Annalyn POV~
I could no longer stay silent, my blood boiled, my chest felt as if a hand was squeezing it tight. Before I even realized what I was doing, I rushed outside because the leather journal was in Lucas's grip, but I snatched it away with trembling hands. My heart hammered as though I had just stolen something precious from him.
"Why did you take it?" My voice cracked, sharp with anger.
Lucas froze, his lips parted but no sound came, his usual calmness vanished, leaving only hesitation. He stuttered, eyes shifting between me and the book now clutched to my chest.
Ezra's voice slice through the tension like a sword. "I want to understand something, what did you just read now, Lucas?" His tone was low, commanding, but behind it lay a dangerous edge.
Lucas's jaw clenched. "I… I'm confused also." He exhale hard, avoiding my eyes. Then his gaze dropped to the journal. "How did you get this, Annalyn?"
