Chapter 46 - TWD ch46:Field practice and cleaning.

"Alright. William, Duan, Katniss, Amy, Andrea, Jim, Jenner, Dale, Jess, Alena, Carol, and Jenny.

Form twos. Duan with me."

They nodded and soon grouped around him, seeing him pull a big case on the ground.

Sasuke opened it, revealing stacks of guns and ammunition, making those who were unaware of this gasp in surprise.

"We are going to have a live practice today. I know some here want to start with taking shots at cans, but I believe the walkers are better targets...we will practice and eliminate them at the same time."

He equipped Katniss, Duan, Amy, Andrea, and Dale with guns and silencers after seeing they at least know the basics.

"You four will go first; meanwhile, Morgan will have the others familiarize themselves with their guns, I and Daryl will work as support. form a W line. Don't shoot recklessly; aim, shoot at those on your side, and work two on two, shooting and reloading separately."

"But where are they? Walkers?" Duan asked him, getting a feel of the Glock 17 on his hand; it was different from the revolver he was used to firing.

Jenny looked worried, but Sasuke reassured her that he will have all of them protected.

"I kept a bunch locked in the next area; once it starts, don't open doors or run. We have a clear retreating route, so use it; advance and retreat in formation." Sasuke took the lead and walked into the second courtyard, followed by the 5 of them and Daryl, who will be the second support.

Sasuke held a fist up, and they stopped.

'Good, they are becoming familiar with signs,' he nodded, signaling them to hold their positions before advancing alone.

A big group of walkers were gathered behind a fence to the side, groaning as they saw him, trying to close in on him, but the fence held them back.

Sasuke grabbed a hidden steel wire and pulled, making the sliding entrance widen enough for 4 to slip through, shuffling toward him before closing it again forcefully, imprisoning the others, and retreated.

"In formation," they formed the W line with Amy, Andrea, and Katniss in the front, while Duan and Dale behind.

Dale and Duan were used to firing guns at this point, and he didn't want others to panic and shoot a comrade in front.

"Safety off," he said, hearing the clicks soon after as walkers came to view.

"Alright, aim, then fire."

The girls' hands shook a little, being the first time to do this, and they started shooting while Dale and Duan had their guns up, ready to assist.

Andrea took a walker down after three missed shots to the chest and throat, Katniss used 5 rounds to take two, and Amy had one down after 4 shots.

It wasn't that good, but it was a start they were learning, and he soon opened the entrance, letting 5 more walkers slip in.

The shots continued, and shortly after, clicks sounded from their guns, and sliders pulled back, showing they emptied the magazines.

"Reloading" Katniss, who practiced like others stepped back, followed by Amy and Andrea, as Duan and Dale moved forward and shot the remaining three walkers with more controlled rhythm and successful headshot rates.

Sasuke repeated the process one more time before calling for the next 5; the girls left that position with wide smiles, still riding high on the thrill and adrenaline coursing through their veins, feeling the ache of the unfamiliar recoil.

At one point four walkers strode in wearing riot gear and helmets, but Sasuke stopped the fire, deciding to make it clear how to deal with that in melee instead.

"I know it's obvious, but if you are met with this type, don't panic and hit that helmet. There is a clear opening in the neck part, so use it to pierce through the brain." He borrowed a machete from Jenner and took one before signaling for Alena, Carol, and William to finish the other three the same way.

The walkers were just around 27; thus, the whole group got the feeling of firing a gun at least once, and Sasuke soon told them to stay here, as the interior was going to need those really trained to deal with it.

"I know you two want to be doing it like Duan has, but not now, alright? I will craft something special for you when I have time." Sasuke patted Ciri's and Sophia's heads after they asked him if they could do it too.

He then turned to others.

"The field is on open view there, and it isn't really safe, so can you guys stay here? I know it smells, but we will deal with it soon.

William, Jim, and Jenner, can you help move the few walkers somewhat away? others can sit here and have some rest until we get back," Sasuke, who finished with inspecting the exits around the area and securing them, spoke, pointing to a spot they can sit at.

He feared someone sniping them from the forest if they returned to the field now. It was the morning now and too open to be the right place for them to sit.

"Got it, we can keep the guns, yeah?" William asked him, waving his Glock.

"Of course, just keep the safety on and don't use it unless necessary."

He soon joined Daryl and Morgan, who got ready.

"Sasuke, there are civilians." Morgan pointed at a dead walker woman in a robe who looked to have nothing to do with this place and then another child.

"So maybe there was a breach around; do we advance?" Daryl asked him, slinging a rifle at his back, and kept the crossbow ready.

"Yeah, I searched the area around here and secured all exits. Don't worry, we will deal with the interior now. Are you ready?"

Morgan and Daryl, who were wearing protective leather gear from neck to toe, nodded, following after him into the inside.

A tactical bright light lump was secured on their chests, while Morgan and Daryl had another flashlight in hand.

Sasuke took the vanguard, as he was the best choice and had the best vision, holding his sword in one hand and Silverballer in the other.

"Leave no corpse unchecked," he whispered, piercing the brain of a dead body on the ground before opening the sliding metal door; a gate was behind it, unlocked.

They stepped in cautiously and came into a big room with a small tower in the middle, possibly the prison guard's watch position.

There was no walker in sight, and the place looked messy.

Sasuke pointed at himself, then at the tower, before pointing at the gate leading to the next area for Daryl and Morgan to watch.

He moved up the stairs and found a body in guard clothes, lying back on his chair with a bullet to the chin—suicide.

He looked around, taking the gun and the set of keys on him before joining Daryl and Morgan.

"A cellblock, no walker in sight," Morgan whispered, and Sasuke used the keys to open the gate, stepping inside.

This cell block has only two tiers linked with stairs.

There were dead bodies in some of the cells, blood smeared on walls, but no walkers around. Morgan goes around piercing their heads.

Sasuke advanced to the other side and checked the gate leading to the next block, maybe, but it was locked and secure.

He followed Daryl up the stairs to the second tier. There were some groans, and they found few walkers on the cells here.

"Possibly died from hunger or suicide and turned," Daryl whispered seeing no clear bite on the walkers inside the cells as Sasuke put them down with his sword.

"This cellblock is clear and secured; we can move in here after taking out the corpses," Morgan said, and Sasuke nodded at him, telling him to go and get others.

"Let's move the corpses out first." Soon he and Daryl opened the cells with the set of keys they had on them and started dropping the walkers down to the floor to be moved outside.

The group outside soon came trailing behind Morgan.

"I know it doesn't look great, but it is safe, and it will be okay after some cleaning."

"It's better than I thought, honestly. Do we have cleaning tools, though?" Alena asked him, seeing the men starting to move the dead bodies outside.

"We do. I will go get them for you. For now, just find a cell you are comfortable with and have some rest. We will help with cleaning after we burn the bodies."

Sasuke took a dirty sheet from one of the beds and used it to wrap three walkers inside it; he hoisted it up and left, following Morgan, Daryl, and others who were taking the bodies outside to the spot they are gathering them.

"Guys, today is going to be a long day. We will move all dead bodies and burn them. We will also burn everything inside the cellblock—sheets, mattresses, and all."

"Hah? Won't we use them?"

"No, we have clean sets, enough for us, i won't risk us catching any kind of disease from that filth"

Jenner nodded, sharing how they can make it more safe for their daily life without fearing an epidemic starting due to the corpses that were there for a long time.

"How about the rest of the prison?" Daryl asked him about dropping a body in the pile they made in the yard.

"I will deal with it first thing tomorrow; for now, we clean our place the best we could so everyone can sleep without having to keep one eye open."

They nodded and got back to retrieve the few remaining bodies inside. Sasuke made a trip to the truck; he actually retrieved the necessary cleaning tools from his storage seal and every other thing they will need, putting more mattresses, pillows, and sheets inside there so Daryl can take them back after they clean the cellblock thoroughly.

He whistled at Duan to come close, passing to him the cleaning utensils.

"Take those to the ladies; tell Daryl and others to help inside. I will move all the remaining corpses in the yards and field to one point myself."

Duan nodded at him, seeing Sasuke pulling a big plastic sheet and starting to move walkers atop it.

He was strong enough to move 10 walkers wrapped in that plastic, which would take others several trips back and forth.

That day was both exhausting and happy; they finally had something to call "home," somewhere to sleep without being afraid of being sneaked upon from the wild.

The cleaning took time, but since Sasuke was the only one dealing with moving corpses, the cellblock was cleaned fairly well with 15 people in there helping.

The walls and ground became clean with no smeared blood, and the beds were changed with new mattresses and pillows. They got food and warm clothes.

For now, it was another day of survival.
