Third Person POV

Good luck with your life, Aki.

I'll always be watching over you… my dear little brother.

The faint echo of a voice—gentle, sorrowful, yet full of warmth—reverberated through the void of his dreams.

Akaza's eyes snapped open. His breathing was ragged, his body trembling slightly as the remnants of that voice lingered in his ears.

"Yumi…" he whispered. The name tasted bittersweet on his tongue, carrying with it memories of a love he had lost.

A soft laugh escaped his lips. "Even now, you're still worried about me? Hahaha…" His voice cracked with both joy and pain. "Thank you, gods… for giving me such a sister."

But then he froze.

Something felt… off. His voice was sharper, lighter. His body—smaller.

"Don't tell me…"

He leapt from the bed, bare feet hitting the cold wooden floor, and scanned his surroundings. Rows of ten bunk beds stretched neatly across the room, sunlight filtering faintly through thin curtains. It looked like an orphanage dormitory, but that was the least of his concerns.

His eyes darted around until they locked onto a mirror hanging crookedly on the wall.

He approached it slowly, almost fearfully.

The reflection staring back at him was that of a young boy. Long black hair framed his pale, almost porcelain-like skin. But the most striking feature—no, the most unnatural feature—was his eyes.

His sclera were black as ink, while his pupils glowed an eerie, almost ethereal white.

Akaza stared, shocked. The contrast was unsettling, yet there was an undeniable beauty to it, a mark that screamed of something beyond ordinary.

Before he could fully process it, a searing pain exploded in his skull.

"AGHHHHHHH!"

He collapsed to his knees, clutching his head. The agony was unlike anything he had ever endured. In his past life, he had been shot, cut, burned—yet this… this felt as though his very soul was being torn apart and reassembled.

Time lost meaning. Seconds stretched into eternity.

Then, just as suddenly as it came, the pain subsided, leaving him drenched in sweat and gasping for breath.

And then—memories. Like a tidal wave, they crashed into his mind, overwhelming yet clear.

Flashes of his current life: a lonely orphanage, days spent under a blue sky, the laughter of children, and the kind smile of a woman who watched over them all.

When the torrent settled, he exhaled shakily.

"So my name… is still Akaza?" A faint smile touched his lips. "I'll take that."

He now knew everything. He was an orphan living in Musutafu, Japan—the very city where U.A. High School was located. Home of Deku and his hot-headed, blonde childhood boyfriend Bakugo.

As for his eyes, the answer was simple. Two days ago, on his fourth birthday, his quirk had awakened. The next day, he fell gravely ill, his body struggling to adapt. The caretaker, Kazuko, suspected the cause and allowed him to rest, planning to take him to the hospital later. She was right—his body had been reshaping itself for the power now coursing through him.

He smirked. "So I'm a kid now? This will be… interesting."

Click.

The door creaked open. A woman with bright orange hair tied neatly behind her head and warm amber eyes entered the room. Her presence radiated a gentle, motherly aura.

So this is Kazuko-san, Akaza thought, watching her.

She scanned the room and quickly noticed him standing by the mirror.

"Oh, you're already up, Akaza?" she said with a tender smile. "Come here, let me check if you still have a fever."

The concern in her voice was genuine. Akaza felt a strange sense of comfort—something he hadn't experienced in a long time. At least this wasn't one of those horror orphanages where children were treated as experiments.

As he approached, Kazuko's expression shifted. Her eyes widened in shock.

"Akaza! Your eyes—what happened to them?" she gasped, quickly kneeling to examine him.

Akaza chuckled softly. "Don't worry, Kazuko-san. I'm fine. This… is probably because my quirk awakened."

Kazuko exhaled, clutching her chest. "You should've said that first! You nearly gave me a heart attack, young man."

"My bad, Kazuko-san," Akaza said with a playful grin.

She shook her head but smiled. "Alright, go back to bed. Awakening your quirk must have drained you."

She turned to leave but paused. Bringing her hands together, she concentrated, and with a soft shimmer, an orange materialized in her palms.

Akaza's eyes widened slightly. So that's her quirk…

Kazuko peeled the orange and handed it to him. "Eat this slowly, okay? Don't choke. Tomorrow, we'll go to the hospital for your evaluation."

As she tucked him in, Akaza muttered to himself, "A quirk that creates oranges… This world really has everything."

And with that thought, he drifted back into sleep.

The Next Morning

Akaza woke to find himself surrounded by a crowd of children. They stared at him like he was some rare creature.

"Wow! Your eyes really turned black!" one boy exclaimed.

"Can you shoot lasers from them?" a girl asked eagerly.

"Maybe he can see into our souls!" another whispered dramatically.

Before Akaza could respond, a barrage of questions overwhelmed him.

"Show us your quirk!"

"Do something cool!"

"Are you gonna be a hero?"

Their excitement was only interrupted when Kazuko entered, clapping her hands.

"Alright, enough! Give Akaza some space," she said, her voice firm yet kind. "He just awakened his quirk. We haven't even gone to the hospital yet. After his evaluation, you can ask him all you want. Deal?"

"YES, KAZUKO-SAN!" the children chorused before rushing off to breakfast.

Akaza chuckled to himself.

After breakfast, he and Kazuko headed to the hospital.

At the Hospital

The sterile scent of disinfectant filled the air as they entered. Soon, they were greeted by a man in a white coat—Dr. Tanaka.

"Good morning, Kazuko-san," the doctor said with a polite smile. His gaze shifted to Akaza. "And this must be our young quirk-bearer. Excited to find out what your power is?"

Akaza simply nodded.

"Good. Let's start with what you've noticed so far."

"My eyes changed color. I also feel an energy inside me—it lets me create shockwaves. Controlling it feels natural, almost… efficient," Akaza explained calmly.

Both Kazuko and the doctor blinked in surprise. The level of self-awareness in his answer was far beyond that of a typical child.

Dr. Tanaka cleared his throat. "Kazuko-san, do we have information about his biological parents?"

Kazuko looked at Akaza. "Is it alright to talk about them?"

"It's fine," Akaza replied, voice steady.

Kazuko relaxed, and began explaining, "His mother could generate small wind currents, and his father had a quirk that enhanced his analytical thinking."

"Fascinating," Dr. Tanaka murmured. He conducted several tests, including one where Akaza released a controlled shockwave that popped a balloon.

The doctor scribbled notes, then drew a blood sample and waited for results. After twenty minutes, he finally spoke.

"Your quirk appears to be a unique fusion of your parents' abilities. What's remarkable is that your body evolves alongside your power. The more you push your limits, the stronger you and your quirk will become. It's a really unique and powerful trait."

Akaza nodded calmly. "I see. Thank you, doctor."

Kazuko, however, couldn't contain her excitement. She lifted him into a tight hug tears falling from her eyes.

"You hear that, Akaza? You'll grow so strong! I'm so proud of you!"

Akaza smiled faintly. "You bet I will."

Dr. Tanaka waited for them to calm down then handed over the final report. "That's all for today. If you feel any unusual pain, come back immediately."

With that, they returned to the orphanage.

That night, the children and Kazuko celebrated his quirk awakening. The room buzzed with laughter and warmth, and true to his word, Akaza patiently answered what felt like thousands of questions from the excited kids.

Lying in bed later, Akaza stared at the ceiling with a small smile.

This life… isn't bad at all.

His eyes gleamed in the dark.

Tomorrow, I will begin my training. I won't waste this chance.
