"Might I ask how you discovered it and how you intended to break the bond," Vaelric asked.
"We discovered the bond after your mother was rescued," Valerian explained. "We could not kill Seraphielle while the bond remained active because she threatened to take her own life. If she died while connected to your mother, Aurelia could have died with her."
Vaelric's gaze drifted to his mother. "And so you let her escape."
"I had no choice if I wanted to protect your mother," Valerian said.
Vaelric nodded, he knew that his father will always chose his mother's safety above everything else. That's why he wasn't that worried during his trial. "You made the right decision. The immediate safety of the family comes first."
"So we decided to sever the bond immediately," Valerian continued. "So that what happened here will not happen ever again. No one threatens me with your mother's life....never again." He clenched his hands so hard that they turned white.
