Gwen froze, she became surprised that the witch already knew who could have wanted to harm the queen. And she hesitantly asked... "Then who—who is it?"
Vera turned, already moving. "Daeron's concubine."
The name struck the air like a blade.
Gwen stopped walking mid-step, her mind stumbling over the implication. "What? Why would she take her? What did the queen even do to her?"
"You will hear everything once I report to the king," Vera said without turning back. "And I do not repeat myself when time is bleeding out, Gwen."
And so they moved.....Fast.
Their footsteps echoed through the corridors, urgency shaping every turn they took. Gwen followed closely, though her thoughts were no longer steady enough to fully process direction or distance.
Vera, meanwhile, kept her expression locked forward, but in her mind the situation was already unraveling into something far more dangerous than a simple kidnapping.
