HAL Internal Document – Nexus Analysis (Classified)
Subject: The Villain Nexus: Nature, Danger and Containment
Document Code: HAL-RES/VNX-001
Prepared by: HAL Research Department, Special Genetics Team 1
Clearance Level: Level 4 and above only.
Defining the Nexus
A villain nexus is a biological core located within individuals born with villain genes. It stores and channels a powerful energy alongside the person's innate, primitive state, often associated with instinctive desires, violent tendencies, or overwhelming emotions. When activated, the core temporarily overrides rational control and releases an energy that drastically enhances the individual's capabilities.
Effects of Nexus Activation
Upon triggering, the following attributes are enhanced:
Strength
Speed
Senses
Abilities (Gene-based powers)
This process is known as Awakening. It is the first stage of a villain's transformation into their true self.
Note: While power output increases exponentially, cognitive control degrades in parallel. (However, outliers have been found among the observed subjects).
Awakening Stages
Stage Description
Partial Trigger The nexus is triggered for a short period of time, not completing its full
activation. However, there are signs of minor enhancements in the
subject. Some awareness is retained.
Full Awakening Full enhancement of the subject's abilities. The individual's sanity is
compromised and enters the berserk state. The subject becomes a
danger to all.
Post-Awakening After effects include memory gaps, emotional detachment, and
long-term mental strain.
Risk Factors
High emotional stress (grief, rage, fear)
Extensive Physical Trauma
Prolonged Suppression of abilities
Range Classification Threat Level
0.0–2.5 Dormant Minimal
2.6–5.0 Mild Activation Blue Code
5.1–7.5 Instability Risk Yellow Code (To be monitored)
7.6–10.0 Severe Awakening Red Code (Intervention Required)
*10.1–12.0 Cataclysmic Black Code (Elimination Protocol)
*Note: Only a few subjects have been found to reach the highest range. All of which have been set as a high risk elimination target by the special elimination task force of HAL. The one at the top of the list being one of the Baron of the Underworld Society, Hide. Assigned to his elimination is Zero.
Notes on Inheritance
Villain genes are not directly inherited, but parental history influences risk. However, carriers with a high-nexus parent are statistically more likely to develop high magnitude cores.
