Chapter 5 - Chapter 3: the Summon

Morphing into his human form, Kyle walks through the dimlit halls of his castle, he face twisted in anger and confusion. A mortal bride had never been chosen by the mark of Ananke —and there were reasons for that

Entering into the obsidian hall. A hall made of dark marble that glowed faintly under the eternal moonlight. the walls were high empty and dark with curtains draped to cover the large windows at each side to stop light from entering—he didn't like light

His footsteps echoed announcing his return from the human realm 'the overworld' as the souls of this realm called it. Taking a sit on his throne, the only chair that sat above the empty hall where he made his judgement to the souls that passed through

His hand curled in a fist, he was lost in thought. what was Ananke the goddess of fate thinking by marking a living person as his bride. He wanted answers but —unfortunately summoning a god that didn't want to found with only fragments of herself hovering like echoes and making bad decisions, was nearly impossible

the only way he could reach her was through— her vessel— his bride, the very problem he now faced. His fist curled deeper. his shadows stirred around him 'kill her' 'just kill her' they whispered hovering around the room like intrusive thought

"Quiet" he commanded, the shadows recoiled into him. he exhaled and decided to attempt summoning the fragment of Ananke hoping he would get some answers, he cursed the primordials for vanishing and leaving all the work to him.

Morphing into his shadow form, he reappeared in the veil— the in-between. where he had first saw his mortal bride only she didn't belong there. the place was impossible for a mortal to access.

This was the closest he could get to the loom of fate, Ananke's realm. He couldn't go further cause like the owner the realm was lost and forgotten

Standing by the lake, Kyle stared into the water, the ripples were quiet so was the forest, nothing moved even the wind stiffened not daring to whisper. Stepping onto the lake, it solidifies still bright and liquid but every step Kyle took made it seem like nothing but a floor made of glass

drawing out a dagger made of crystallized shadow from his coat, he cuts across his palm. blood trickles through it— it isn't red. It leaks night shot with silver light, when it hits the water it sizzles crawling out ward.

Making the lake ripple, pulsing faintly like something in it just came alive

Taking a deep breath, the forest moves something shifts, temperature drops until even the trees look frosted except the lake which still pulsed with unknown life. He whispers, his voice coming out with something not entirely his, low and echoing.

"Reawaken from the darkness from which nothing was created and everything was born"

The forest comes alive, wind blowing violently, trees echoing of the arrival of something forgotten and like a glitch it stops, freezes the air stiffens again

"Why do you summon me, reaper"

The voice of a woman whispers with authority moving with the wind

Kyle stands still, his eyes fixated at the lake moving with slow waves "the all knowing goddess of fate, you should already know why i have summoned you" kyle replied

"Is it about the mortal bride I have chosen?" the voice replied softly

"So you are aware of the mistake you made" Kyle retorted, his hands back into a tight fist

"It was not a mistake. I never make mistakes" the voice replied, calm and assertive making Kyle's frown deepen

"This has never happened before, and her being mortal is a hindrance to her abilities and could also cause problems to the other realms" Kyle stated raising his voice angrily, did she not realize that all the work and cleaning up was going to be on him

He wondered why the primordials enjoyed making him clean up after their mess

Angered by his words strong wind blew at Kyle's hooded cloak threatening to pull it" Do not raise your voice at me reaper. I have chosen the mortal to be your bride. accept it or— watch the realms fall into ruins" the voice faded leaving Kyle standing in the middle of the lake frustrated with no help and no information whatsoever.

Dissolving into shadow mist, he appeared back in his castle, his mood darker than when he left, if the goddess left him to clean up this mess, he would do it on his own terms.

A shadow guard formed from mist appeared by his side, amor made of smoke and dark steel."shadowlord, there is a problem"

Kyle groaned pressing his hand on his forehead "speak"

Standing at the edge of an isolated cliff pointing closely to the gloomy sky, Kyle stared at the portal opened before him, the heavy wind hit hard threatening to push him off. He stood unbothered by the wind but disturbed by the appearance of a portal he didn't open

"How many?" he asked the shadow guard standing quietly behind him "four, my lord, at the edges of the realm" the shadow guard replied

Narrowing his eyes

"and..."

"Vengeful souls are starting to leak into the human realm"

Kyle's his silver eyes glints in fury, he would return to the overworld with one goal.

To kill his bride.
