That One Click.
That one, seemingly random click, Accept Invite.
If I hadn't clicked it that day, you wouldn't be reading this chapter of my story.
At first, it was just another group chat, "The Jaipur Walo GC" People were laughing, texting, sharing memes, and having a good time. I was casually blending in, introducing myself, saying the "Hi, I'm Tara from Assam " Nothing out of the ordinary.
Then, I got a DM.
From someone who wasn't even that active in the group.
His name was Vyan.
"Are you from ****** college?"
Simple. Unexpected.
"Yes," I replied.
And that was it. The beginning.
It turned out we were from the same college, although different departments. As the conversation went on, I discovered we also lived in the same neighborhood.
What are the odds, right?
We started off as strangers and then transitioned into acquaintances. We weren't quite friends yet— he was just someone I knew, someone familiar.
To be honest, I joined the group purely out of boredom. I wasn't looking to connect or make friends. It was just a way to pass the time, nothing more.
But Vyan was different.
He was thoughtful and sweet. He checked in, sent me messages, updates, and talked about random things. Slowly, we began texting a few times a day. This was around November. The air in Jaipur had started getting chilly, and for some reason, his texts brought a little warmth.
I won't lie—I liked talking to him.
He was smart, witty, and kind-hearted... maybe even a little too attentive.
Sometimes, he came off as possessive:
"Who are you meeting?"
"Who's this guy?"
"Where are you going?"
"How do you know him?"
That part annoyed me a bit. We weren't close enough for all that. Still, beneath those slightly intrusive questions, I sensed he genuinely cared. Somehow, amid that early confusion, we formed something—a budding bond of friendship.
This continued for a few weeks.
Then one day, he asked,
"Can we meet?"
I paused for a second, thought about it, and said "yes".
We decided to meet somewhere close to my place—just a casual evening meetup.
Okay, full honesty?
I did stalk him online before we met.
I knew he was a gym guy, average-looking, someone who liked to keep it low-key, someone who was funny and genuine.
But what I didn't expect…
Was how effortlessly beautiful he looked in real life.
He wasn't trying too hard—just a simple hoodie and joggers. But somehow, that made him even more attractive. There was something about him—his calmness, his shyness, the way he smiled without trying to impress.
He spoke less. I, on the other hand, talked a lot—okay, a lot.
But his energy was calm and grounded. He listened. He was soft-spoken and sincere and easygoing..
And for the first time since moving to Jaipur, I felt like someone actually vibed with me.
And that…
was "The real beginning" .
