Chapter 14 - Back to City

Grandpa Bai looked at his wife. "Why didn't you tell me earlier? If I had known, I would have taught her a lesson about being rude to her elders."

Grandpa Ger Bai looked at her husband and shook his head. "It's not a big deal. Why do you need to bring it up? I just didn't mean to yesterday. But..." Grandpa Ger Bai looked at her husband.

Grandpa Bai listened and furrowed his brows. "But what?"

"From what I see, she does seem a bit rude. By the way, her cousin is also a Ger. Compared to her, her cousin is prettier and cleaner. It's a shame she's wearing patched clothes. If she wore luxurious clothes, she would definitely be prettier than the City Ger." Grandpa Ger Bai continued.

Grandpa Bai looked at his wife. "I remember correctly that his cousin was the son of the second son of the family. I heard his father and father were merchants, and I also heard that they had been missing for a year. No one knows where they are. Now the first son's family is living in the second son's more livable house. Everyone says they're dead and their bodies are just left there."

Grandpa Bai and Grandpa Ger Bai had lived in the village for a long time, so they had met the second son. Grandpa Bai considered the second son much better. He was friendly to everyone and diligent.

Compared to the first son, he was lazy and liked to drink. His wife was also short-tempered and even fierce. They were quite well-known in the village. Poor young Ger, he had to be cared for by such a family.

Grandpa Bai deeply regretted this.

Bai Zicheng and Bai Moye had finished their meal. They ate heartily and devoured everything on the table. Bai Zicheng went out with her son. Then she told her son to prepare the things he needed to take back to their home.

Bai Moye didn't think it was necessary to bring clothes. He would leave his clothes here. So he only brought a few small items and was ready to leave.

After Bai Zicheng finished eating, he walked over to his father and father. He noticed that their moods were a bit gloomy. So he asked, "Dad, Daddy, what are you talking about?"

Then Bai Zicheng realized that no one was here except for his father and father. "Where is everyone else?"

Daddy Bai smiled, "Your father has already chased them away. So it's just the two of us left."

Bai Zicheng sighed softly. "Good. Dad did a good job. I don't want to deal with people like that."

Bai Zicheng sat across from them, and Daddy Bai poured tea for his son. "Are you guys leaving now?"

Bai Zicheng nodded. "I think we'll leave soon. I'm afraid we'll be late getting to the city."

Grandpa Ger Bai nodded. "You're right. It's better to leave early. It'll be dangerous if you arrive late." Grandpa Ger Bai smiled, "What about the eldest son? Has he sent you any news?"

The eldest son of the Bai family is a great general. He chose to join the army and slowly rose to the rank of general on his own. Now he has his own family.

And his family also follows him to where the army is stationed.

Bai Zicheng smiled, "He sent a letter yesterday. He said he was stepping down as a general. He said he wanted to be with Father and Daddy."

When Daddy and Daddy Bai heard this, they were both shocked and stood up. "Second child, are you telling the truth? Your brother is coming back?"

Bai Zicheng saw his parents' excitement. He immediately smiled. "My brother is on his way now. Father, Daddy, why don't we wait together in the city? Big brother will be very happy."

Daddy Bai was furious, "Why didn't you say so earlier? Okay, I'll get ready!!!" Daddy Bai glared at his husband. "What are you waiting for? Your son will be back soon, let's go! Get ready quickly!"

Father Bai was still in shock and disbelief. He was already being dragged away by his wife. Bai Moye was already preparing to leave. He saw his grandfather pull his grandfather's arm and leave. He glanced at his father, who was calmly sipping his tea.

He sat down beside his father. "Dad, what happened? Grandpa and Grandpa Ger seem to be in a hurry? Did you say something strange again?"

Bai Zicheng looked at his son. "What's strange? I just said that your eldest uncle is coming back and that he's resigning as a general. He's going to be with your grandfather and Grandpa Ger."

Bai Moye was stunned when he heard this. "Why did Uncle suddenly decide to come back? Didn't he always say he wanted to be a soldier forever?"

Bai Zicheng looked at his son's face and knew that he had a strong sense of humor. He put down his tea and said bitterly, "Your eldest uncle is disabled. He lost his left leg during the war. Now he's decided to return rather than trouble the army. His wife has long wanted to force him to return, but your uncle was stubborn. Now he's finally chosen to return!"

Bai Moye's eyes widened. "Father, you... didn't tell Grandpa and Grandpa Ger?"

Bai Zicheng shook his head. "Don't say that. I'm afraid your Grandpa and Grandpa Ger will fall ill because of this."

Bai Moye nodded. That's right, Grandpa Ger would definitely faint when he heard about it. So Bai Moye decided to keep this information to himself.

------

Grandpa Ger Bai saw the many things in his kitchen. He immediately asked his grandson to bring them out. All the side dishes and cooked chicken were distributed to the neighbors.

Grandpa Ger Bai smiled, "Ger An, I've troubled you with this. Here's some food, take it, and some sugar and salt. Share them with some neighbors."

Ger An, who was called by Grandpa Ger Bai, furrowed his brows. "Why are you suddenly distributing these things?"

Ger Bai chuckled, "My eldest son is about to return from the army. I'll go with my second son to wait for them. We probably won't be back for another month or two before my eldest son returns."

Ger An was surprised, "Are you leaving?"

"Yes. Please share this with the neighbors. Thank you very much. Please take these cooked dishes for your family. Then I'll be going first." Grandpa Ger Bai quickly bid his farewell.

Ger An couldn't even say anything. Then the family disappeared in a luxurious carriage. They didn't need to bring much. So one carriage was enough for the four of them.

Bai Moye looked at his father, "Dad, I heard you fainted? Are you okay?"

Bai Zicheng looked at him, "Yes, your daddy is very healthy now. He must be happy that we're back together. Besides, you'll have another little brother in the future!"

Bai Moye, "..."

So she fainted not because she missed me, but because she was pregnant with my little brother? I was fooled!!!
