Chapter 22 - The Newcomers

The metal door opened with a long creak, breaking the heavy silence of the Omega compartment. Asmara immediately sat up in bed, her dark eyes fixed on the figures advancing down the corridor.

Asmara watched them enter one by one, intrigued. Who were these people who were wandering into HER territory, without even asking her permission? This detail alone was enough to put her on edge.

"What are you doing here?" she asked in a neutral voice, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed.

A faint, polite smile appeared on the lips of one of the individuals, a woman with an unfathomable gaze. The others remained silent, content to stare at her with an almost disturbing calm.

Asmara frowned.

"Are you going to answer my question? Yes or no," without taking your eyes off them.

This unfathomable woman stepped forward and placed her hands on Asmara's shoulders.

"We're here to join you. I'm the one who took the "joy" position from the rest of team C. I just arrived with leader Alpha 1. She sent us."

"I see..." Asmara said, annoyed but also very disturbed.

One of the men, tall and imposing, met his gaze and simply whispered

"We are where we need to be."

A strange phase without any logic, like simple machines.

A cold tension ran through Asmara's spine and she first pushed away the unfathomable woman's hands.

Why does this crazy woman want to put them here? she thought. They're not normal...

They want to keep an eye on me? Well, that's fine, they'll be served.

She smiled slightly, but it wasn't a welcoming smile. More like the smile of a predator watching for prey, or a player who knows an unexpected piece has been placed on the chessboard.

"All right," she said finally. "Settle in. But know one thing…" She leaned slightly toward them, her voice dropping to a cold whisper.

"Here I see everything, I know everything and I am everything, have a nice day"

The recruits didn't respond. Their complete silence only added to the tension. Asmara, suspicious, knew at that moment that a game had begun, a game that Alpha 1 had started without asking her permission.

And deep inside her, a joy had grown, that of winning this game and taking her revenge.

Ela and Chetan.

In this same corridor that had led them to this world, it was through this same one that they were going to rise.

But, contrary to what we think and to this dear Chetan, Ela, she still had some very precious things that kept her here, an incomparable being who filled her solitude despite her clumsy and completely useless side, it was

Someone dear to her heart, Roum, a friend fallen from the sky, literally fallen from the sky, she is sure that he will do great things and that thanks to him this world will be able to change, after all he was born from the sky

"HEY," she whispered, "this is kind of weird... Are we... Are we really leaving... For good... Are we never coming back?"

"For me it's a definitive departure and no return, I never look back," Chetan whispered coldly, without even bothering to look at the one who had asked him the question.

"I would like to... come back," she murmured, her hand on her heart.

"It's for the weak," he said, before doubling his pace and even overtaking the two men escorting them.

"(I hope he comes to join me soon)"

"I've placed the first pawn on the board, what will your hold be?" whispered Alpha 1.

"I don't know anymore, I've lost so much to you that I'm discouraged."

"Don't be, it seems that it is hope that keeps you alive" affirmed Alpha 1

"Nonsense, you believe in these mythologies that come from the pit, these people believe in everything, they reject our mother and even evolution, they are really unstable, I still don't understand the advice, it's miserable"

"Let's leave the dreams, after you we need them" Alpha 1 sneered
