Chapter 109 - The Devil Returns

The air thickened with a shrill, twisted laughter that rode through the wind, curling around Zavrion and Vixen like an invisible noose. Each sound pressed against their chests, choking their breaths. Darkness wasn't only in the sky now—it seeped into their eyes, their very veins. The villagers' burning stares pinned them in place, a suffocating wall of blackened pupils. There was no path left to run. No escape.

Meanwhile, inside the house, Kin and Kenny were alone.

The storm outside raged, the black wind howling like a thousand unseen hands pounding against the doors and windows. It was as though a horde of faceless beings clawed and shrieked, desperate to break inside.

Kin and Kenny clung to each other, trembling. Both of them cried out to God, chanting protective spells, their voices cracking with terror.

Suddenly—BANG!

The light in the TV room exploded with a blinding flash. Kenny screamed, stumbling forward, but before he could run, something invisible clamped around his ankle.

"Kenny!" Kin's voice tore the air—yet Kenny could not hear him.

The unseen force yanked Kenny hard, dragging him across the floor. His body slammed into the TV room, and with a thunderous doom, the door slammed shut behind him.

Kenny's desperate cries were swallowed by the house.

Inside the room, the invisible thing hurled him against the furniture. He crashed onto the floor, glass shattering, wood splintering beneath him. Warm blood trickled down his arms, his forehead splitting open. The unseen claws tried to drag him out, to tear him from the safety of the house.

Kenny clutched at whatever he could—chairs, the TV stand, broken shards—his hands slippery with his own blood. His voice broke as he sobbed, "God… please, save me!"

Back in the hall, Kin was still bound—his body pinned to the sofa by a crushing force. From the suffocating dark behind him, a voice slithered into his ear, deep and venomous.

"Well, well… do you recognize me?"

Kin's blood froze.

The whisper grew colder, sharper.

"I'm back. This time I'll kill you with my own hands. You… and your beloved husband. I've been waiting for this… hungry, so very hungry. Your blood will taste sweeter than ever."

And then, a hideous laugh—low and guttural—vibrated through the walls.

"Ha… ha… ha… ha…"

Kin's body shook violently, his breath ragged. He squeezed his hands together, his lips trembling as he prayed and summoned all his strength. With every shred of will, he released his Omega pheromone power.

A pulse of energy burst through the suffocating gloom. Animal spirits flickered into existence—shadowed wolves, glowing stags, spectral hawks—circling him protectively.

The air shifted. The oppressive force loosened. The demonic presence behind him hissed, and in a flash, it dissolved into the storm, vanishing like smoke devoured by the wind.

Kin collapsed to the floor, gasping. Tears streaked his cheeks as he whispered his gratitude. "Thank you… thank you for saving us."

But the relief lasted only seconds.

He stumbled into the TV room—and froze.

Kenny lay sprawled on the floor, blood staining his body. His forehead was split, his fingers torn, deep gashes carved across his chest. He was barely conscious, his breaths ragged and shallow.

"No… no, no, no!" Kin dropped to his knees, pulling Kenny into his arms, his hands trembling. "Please, stay with me. Don't leave me."

Kenny's blood seeped into Kin's clothes as he fumbled for his phone with shaking hands. With a desperate cry, he dialed Vixen.

Kenny's blood seeped into Kin's clothes as he fumbled for his phone with shaking hands. With a desperate cry, he called Vixen.

"Please, Vixen… please pick up…!" Kin sobbed, his voice breaking.

The phone rang. Once. Twice. Again. No answer.

On the table by the bed, Vixen's phone lay forgotten, the screen glowing with Kin's desperate call. But Vixen had already left the house, following Zavrion into the cursed night.

In the suffocating silence of the room, Kin clutched Kenny tighter, tears spilling as shadows crawled along the walls, whispering with cruel laughter.

Alone.

Helpless.

Trapped.
