Chapter 81 - Chapter 71: Just Another Day on Vacation

Part 1:

The next day, Han Yue and her team woke up around 4 p.m. After resting for the day, they felt refreshed—and surprisingly cool. That's because Han Yue had placed ice walls on all four sides of the room. It was practically freezing inside! Shadow 8 was even wrapped in a blanket.

While stretching, Han Yue asked, "What do you guys want to eat for breakfast?"

Shadow 8 immediately raised his hand. "I want pizza!"

Guard Lei and Tian looked at him like he'd grown a second head. Han Yue stared blankly. "Is that what you want to eat for breakfast?"

Still, she reached into her space and took out a full pizza.

She turned to Lei and Tian. "And you guys?"

"Congee, fried dough bread, dim sum, and iced coffee," they said in unison.

Han Yue took out everything they requested—four servings of each. The pizza sat in the middle like a center piece. She also brought out iced coffees and matcha lattes for everyone.

"WOAHHH," Shadow 8's eyes sparkled. Lei and Tian's weren't far behind.

Han Yue smiled. "Let's eat!"

They started eating joyfully. Some of the dishes—especially the pizza and café drinks—were no longer available outside. The extreme heatwave had gotten worse than ever. Mornings now reached 60°C, and no one dared step outside before sunset. It was becoming dangerous just to exist outdoors.

Shadow 8 excitedly grabbed his matcha latte and took a selfie with the pizza and breakfast spread. He dragged everyone into the frame and sent the photo to the Shadow Guard Leaders group chat, captioned:

"Just eating breakfast while on vacation 😎🍕"

Then he snickered and ate another slice like he was the luckiest guy in the world.

The rest of them ate slowly, savoring the rare food. Sure, congee and fried dough were still available in the base cafeteria, but pizza? Café drinks? Forget it. Most supplies were running out. Everyone was prioritizing staple goods now.

After the meal, Shadow 8 turned to Han Yue with both hands outstretched. "Reward, please."

Han Yue looked at him, deadpan. "You eat this at breakfast too?"

Still, she took out three large tubs of ice cream in different flavors—cookies and cream, strawberry, and mango. Then added three boxes of cones, three bowls, and three scoops.

Without another word, she went to lie down and relax on her bed, checking her phone.

Meanwhile, the three idiots got to work. Each took a bowl and opened the tubs.

"WOOOWWW! Cookies and cream!"

"STRAWBERRYYYYY—"

"Mango!! Let's gooo!"

Shadow 8 scooped ice cream into his bowl so excessively it nearly overflowed, then grabbed three cones and started eating them like a kid at a carnival. The other two weren't much better—they piled their cones as high as possible and acted like it was the best day of their lives.

Han Yue ignored the chaos and checked her phone.

Long Yi had messaged her.

🥺 "Lonely..."

Han Yue smirked and replied with a teasing kiss emoji.

😘 "I'll be home soon. Just be a good boy."

Then, another message popped up—from Li Meixue, the lunatic.

"I warned you to break up! I tied up your sister."

She even attached a photo of Han Jiaojiao, tied to a chair with rope, her mouth taped shut.

Han Yue laughed out loud and replied smugly:

😢 "Please nooo, pleaase release my sister!!!"

Then she scrolled over to the latest news headlines.

📲 [News Update – National Broadcast]

Highest heat recorded: 62°C

Citizens advised: avoid going out in the mornings; shift all activity to night hours.

Confirmed death toll: 150 million globally.

Water crisis: Rivers and reservoirs have dried up. Most cities now rely on converted seawater.

Crime reports: Gangs and looters have increased. Citizens urged to remain alert.

Han Yue quietly thought:"Well... not as bad as the past. Back then, around 650–700 million people died from the heatwave. This is 100 times better than before. At least now everyone's trying to survive together."

Long Yi replied again:

😘 "Okay. I will wait at home."

Han Yue smiled and sent a heart emoji.

❤️

She looked up—and saw the three guys had actually finished all the ice cream.

"…They can seriously eat this much for breakfast?"

Bored, she took out her baby bunny and fed it some strawberry. "Hehe~"

By 6 p.m., their walkie-talkie crackled to life.

"Team, get ready to leave in 10 minutes."

They packed up quickly and headed down to the shaded garage. After loading into the car, they drove toward City H.

After two hours of travel, they finally arrived at City H Base.

Their first stop: the Mission Hall. Han Yue stepped forward to submit the Private Escort Mission for completion. The clerk checked with Captain Rong, who nodded and presented the official Wei Family seal.

The clerk scanned Han Yue, Shadow 8, and Guards Lei and Tian.Mission status: ✅ COMPLETED

Han Yue received the full 30,000 point reward.

Without further chatter, they said goodbye to Captain Rong and left.

Captain Rong said nothing either—he knew what had happened before. He just wanted to finish his own shift and go home to rest.

Part 2

After leaving Base H, Guard Lei drove toward the City H Military Base, located in the mountain area. Its layout was similar to Dragon Peak Base, shaded naturally by the towering cliffs.

At the guard post, Lei rolled down the window and handed over the mission document. The patrol guard glanced over it, nodded, and the gates opened.

They were escorted straight to the Admin Hall, where Secretary Su greeted them with a big smile.

"Well, I'm glad everyone made it back safe. Haha!"

Shadow 8 dramatically flopped onto a lounge chair and started eating the snacks on the coffee table. "Ughhh… It was unbearable being with those rich snobs. Hmmp."

Secretary Su chuckled. "Can't be helped. They think they're invincible... but not for long."There was a strange glint in his eye as he said that.

He waved over the logistics team. "Take Han Yue to the cold storage."

Han Yue followed the team to a massive cold warehouse.

"Please place the shipment on the pallet scale," one of the logistics officers instructed.

Han Yue got to work, stacking the fish by the tons—22,000 total. It took a few rounds to measure and record it all, but thanks to her powers, she easily moved the fish piles aside and reorganized them faster than any forklift could.

In just 30 minutes, it was done.

The logistics officer bowed gratefully. "Thank you for your hard work."

Han Yue, before leaving, tilted her head and asked, "Want more fish?"

The officer froze mid-step, then spun around with sparkling eyes. "YES!"

Without hesitation, Han Yue started stacking again—fresh, high-quality fish, straight from her space.

Another 10,000 tons.

The officer nearly wept with joy and hurried to write her a second receipt: "10,000 tons of fresh fish received."

Back at the Admin Hall, Han Yue returned with the logistics officer, who excitedly reported the extra supply of fish.

Secretary Su blinked, then laughed. "Good! We're no longer short on fish!"

He updated the mission status to "Completed" and scanned everyone's smartwatch.

Han Yue received 20,000 points + 500 merit for the main mission, then an additional 10,000 points + 100 merit for the extra supply of fish.

After that, they started chatting casually.

"The ten masked men we captured earlier?" Secretary Su leaned forward. "They confessed. Said they were hired to kidnap survivors and send them to a research lab. The lab's supposedly in Base H, but they're just middlemen. Don't know the exact location."

"We're tracing their phone logs now. And the Wei family's under full surveillance—don't worry, they won't escape."

Han Yue nodded, uninterested in the details. After a bit more small talk, they left the base and went to enjoy some free time.

Shadow 8 had already changed into his ugly Hawaiian shirt—bright, floral, and clashing horribly with his black uniform. He wore sunglasses and a straw hat too.

The whole team headed to the night market to explore.

Han Yue, having divided the points and merit evenly among the group, walked casually. She soon found a jade stall.

"Hehe…" She lingered and ended up buying a lot without bargaining. She didn't care about points—she was rich.

The vendors nearly cried with joy. "Thank you, miss! You're so generous!"

While browsing antiques, something caught her eye: a small, colorful stone. Han Yue picked it up.

"Hmm? A beast core? Already formed… interesting."

"How much?" she asked.

The seller was a dirt-smudged boy, probably nine years old. His face was timid, but he whispered, "Four thousand…"

Nearby vendors laughed mockingly.

"Pfft! That rock? You're being scammed, girl."

"Yeah, ignore him. It's just a worthless pebble."

"You think that can erase your mom's debt? Haha!"

The boy flinched. Tears welled up in his eyes, and he lowered his head.

Han Yue crouched down to meet his eyes. "Why do you need 4,000?"

He blinked, surprised that she wasn't yelling or mocking.

"My mom… she owes a bad man 4,000 points," he said tearfully. "I wanna help her."

Han Yue, now curious, said, "Take me to see your mom."

He nodded eagerly.

They walked to the slums—a broken-down part of the city Han Yue remembered clearly.

"Still the same," she thought. "The poorest of the poor… and the worst kinds of people."

Eventually, they reached a crumbling room. The door was smashed open, furniture tossed, windows shattered.

"Mom!" the boy cried out, running inside. He searched the mess but found no one.

Han Yue looked around calmly. "Do you know who she borrowed the money from?"

The boy sniffled and nodded. "The bad guys on the east side… They lent money to my dad. But he ran away and bullies me and mom..."

Han Yue picked him up like a sack. "Let's go."

As she walked, she messaged the team in a temporary group chat:

"Going to save a woman from loan sharks. East side of slums. Join me if you want to have fun."

Shadow 8 responded in seconds:

"YES YES FINALLY I'M ITCHING FOR A FIGHT. WAIT FOR MEEEEEE!"

Lei and Tian also replied:

"OTW, Boss."

After 10 minutes, they reached the red-light district. Gambling dens, shady bars, people passed out on the street.

The boy pointed to a building.

Inside, Han Yue extended her spiritual sense.

More than 20 people inside. And the woman? She was on the floor—bruised, slapped, begging for more time.

Some thugs approached her, laughing.

Han Yue's eyes narrowed.

She kicked the door open—BOOM!

The door flew off its hinges and smacked a man mid-pants-down. He slammed into the wall, out cold.

The room went silent.

"WHO DARES?!" one man barked.

"DO YOU KNOW WHO WE ARE?!" another shouted.

A few grinned lewdly. "Oho~ A girl?"

"You want a loan, sweetheart? We'll give you a special deal."

Han Yue ignored them. She looked at the woman on the floor—bruised, but not violated.

"Good. I made it in time."

The boy broke free and ran to her. "Mom!"

The woman gasped, "You fool! It's dangerous!"

"I'll protect you!"

Meanwhile, Shadow 8 and the guards were watching from the windows like it was a movie.

Han Yue was speechless.

The leader growled, "What the hell is this drama? Grab the women and the brat!"

Thugs advanced, grinning.

WHAM!

Shadow 8, Lei, and Tian leapt in through the windows and started beating them senseless.

"Who ARE these people?! First they broke our door, now the windows?!"

Han Yue nearly laughed.

She strolled up to the boss. "So… why does she owe you 4,000?"

He sneered, pulled a knife—and froze.

His hand was now covered in ice.

He looked up at Han Yue and shivered. Her eyes… like looking at a dead dog.

He gulped. "Her husband borrowed it… then ran. Interest added up—it's been a month…"

Han Yue finally got a good look at the woman. "Wait a minute… isn't she the top healer from my past life?"

"Didn't know she had a kid…"

She said, "Okay. I'll pay it."

The boss nodded quickly. "Yes, yes! Just 4,000! No fees!"

Han Yue transferred it.

The fight was over. All the thugs were either unconscious or pretending to be dead.

Shadow 8 strutted over. "I came at the perfect time, huh?"

Han Yue rolled her eyes. "Boy. Come here. Bring your mom."

The little boy led his mom over.

The boss said politely, "Debt's cleared. You're free to go."

The woman was stunned. The boy jumped around joyfully.

"THANK YOU, SISTER! You saved my mom!"

Han Yue gently patted the little boy's head. "Okay, let's get out of here and talk somewhere else."

A few minutes later, they sat down in an open area to cool off and rest. The woman finally broke the silence. Her voice was quiet, cautious.

"Why did you pay our debt?"

The little boy quickly answered, "I sold the small rock I found!"

Han Yue nodded. "Yes, it's true. He sold it to me."

The woman looked alarmed. "I'm sorry… he must've tricked you. I'll pay you back, I promise."

Han Yue waved her off. "It's fine. Why don't you come work at my base instead? I'm from City J—we came here for a mission."

Shadow 8 and the two guards were watching quietly, confused but not interrupting. They didn't understand why Han Yue was suddenly helping this mother and son... but they respected her decisions.

The woman looked hesitant, then nodded. "Okay. I have experience in traditional Chinese medicine. I can work as a doctor."

Han Yue tilted her head curiously. "Then why aren't you working at a hospital here?"

The woman lowered her eyes, voice soft and bitter. "I… offended someone at the hospital. He wanted me to be his woman. When I refused, he made sure I was fired."

"Oh…" Han Yue murmured. That explained it.

Figures. Trash like that exist in every place.

"Well, you can come back with us tomorrow," Han Yue said. "But for now, let's go to a hotel, clean up, and rest. Do you need anything from your old house? Bring only the sentimental stuff."

The woman shook her head. "There's nothing left. I sold all of it—my medical equipment too—for points so we could survive. But my ex-husband… he was a gambler. Took everything and still borrowed more from the loan sharks. That's how we ended up here."

Han Yue didn't pry further. She simply stood up and said, "Alright, let's go."

They booked a hotel for one night—one room per person.

Han Yue handed a small bag to the woman, filled with basic supplies, and asked the hotel to deliver food to their room.

They were given four steaming meat buns and two bottles of processed seawater.

As for Han Yue and her three teammates, they went to her room.

Han Yue casually took out a table and asked, "What do you guys want to eat?"

Without hesitation:

"Spaghetti!"

"McDonald's!"

"French fries!"

"Milk tea!"

"Cheesecake!"

"Sweet and sour pork with fried rice!"

Han Yue nodded and waved her hand—ta-dah!—the entire meal appeared before them.

They all gasped.

Shadow 8 sparkled the brightest. He grabbed a milk tea like it was treasure. "WOOOOW!"

The others followed suit—digging into burgers, fries, noodles, and desserts like kids at a buffet.

Han Yue looked amused. She calmly took her own share of fried rice and sweet-and-sour pork. Nom nom nom. So good. She sipped her milk tea.

Meanwhile, that fool Shadow 8 took out his phone and snapped a photo of the table overflowing with food. He immediately posted it to the Shadow Guard Leaders Group Chat.

"WOW~ A feast on my vacation leave 😎🍴"

After sending it, he casually scrolled up the chat—and saw dozens of angry replies:

"YOU'RE GETTING FAT!""Double chin confirmed!""We're reporting you to Long Yi!"

Shadow 8 proudly grinned. "HMPH! They're just jealous!! HAHAHAHA!!"

Then happily slurped his spaghetti.

"Slurp slurp~ nom nom nom~"
