Chapter 2 - The Rabbits' First Test

The hall where the children sleep is dark.

No light except from a single white bulb dangling from the ceiling, swaying slightly, ticking with a strange click.

A heavy metal door creaks open slowly.

Heavy footsteps… then the faint screech of iron bars sliding apart.

A man wearing a rabbit mask appears—not the same one who took Donfrey.

This one laughs more… but his grin is carved into the mask like a crime.

He walks lightly, tapping the floor with a small stick, like a teacher giving a lesson in threat, not education.

He scans the room as the children wake up, tense and silent.

Rabbit:

"Good morning, little rabbits. Ready for our first game?"

Silence spreads… children exchange glances.

Rabbit:

"No? Oh, don't worry… you won't all die. Maybe just half of you."

A short, fake laugh escapes him—filling the room with dread.

Rabbit:

"Follow me, little rabbits. Time for your first test."

A boy steps forward—sharp blue eyes, blonde hair, an arrogant expression.

Boy:

"I think I forgot my homework today, Mr. Rabbit."

The rabbit turns to him with a cold, mocking glare.

Rabbit:

"Follow me."

Donfrey looks at the boy, his eyes frozen on a face he can't forget.

It's Grick!

One of his school bullies.

Donfrey:

"How is he here? Grick isn't poor! He's from a rich family, fed on power and cruelty..."

Freya:

"You know that boy?"

Donfrey (whispering without taking his eyes off Grick):

"Yeah... I know him."

Freya (nervously):

"Who is he?"

Donfrey:

"One of the first to teach me what a cruel word feels like.

Back in school… he made everyone laugh by knocking me off my chair, or mocking my drawings."

Freya:

"Weird… what's he doing here?

This place is for failures like us… the forgotten."

Donfrey (in a confused tone):

"Grick doesn't belong to this world...

His dad owns a factory… they used to call him the Little King.

So why is he here?"

Freya:

"Maybe they don't want special kids… they want ruthless ones.

Maybe they don't care if you're poor or rich—just whether you survive."

Suddenly, the rabbit turns as if he sensed the conversation.

He taps his stick loudly on the ground.

Rabbit:

"Planning an early alliance?"

Silence falls. Donfrey lowers his head. Freya clenches her fist.

Grick chuckles and turns his head toward Donfrey.

Grick (loudly and mockingly):

"Didn't expect to see your face here, Donfrey.

Figured you'd die under your father's boot."

The children turn toward them.

Donfrey says nothing. Frozen.

Freya whispers quickly:

"Don't answer... not now."

Grick continues confidently, his voice low, only for those nearby:

"You'll find you're even weaker here than you were back there.

And here?

No teachers to save you.

Just rabbits… and blood games."

The rabbit keeps walking, feeding on the rising tension.

Rabbit:

"Rabbits that talk too much… usually get eaten first."

He opens the large door leading to the tunnel.

Rabbit:

"Three minutes.

Anyone late… will taste pain."

Freya whispers with fear:

"They'll all try to break us.

But don't break, Donfrey…

Not here."

Donfrey takes one last look at Grick… then turns away.

Donfrey (inner voice):

"I came here so I wouldn't become like him…

But if I must…

I'll become something worse."
