Present Day-20 Years Later-2016
In the destroyed setting of New York, fires burned and buildings were decimated, few bodies, human and Enhuman lied on the ground dead. Suddenly, Sun Sorceress is punched into wall, before she looks up and wipes blood from her lip as a G.R.U.N.T drone approaches her with its weapons armed. Sun Sorceress then arms her sun blades.
Sun Sorceress: Come on!
The G.R.U.N.T drone charges at Sun Sorceress, who dodges and slices up the drones back, before flipping back and kicking the drone off into the distance. Sun Sorceress then jumps off into the distance. Suddenly, a giant G.R.U.N.T begins rampaging through the destroyed ruins of New York, before suddenly, Dragonfly blasts the G.R.U.N.T's head apart with an energy blast. Dragonfly hovers over the ground.
Dragonfly: V.O.X, you still with me?
V.O.X: Still here, boss.
Dragonfly: Which big bot was that?
V.O.X: That was the Delta, sir.
Dragonfly: and how many big bots do we have left?
V.O.X: The Alpha and the Omega bot, sir.
Dragonfly: Oh, boy...well, let's get to it.
Quantum flies around and blasts down flying Pterodactyl drones with his laser vision while the Owl flies and kicks down a few G.R.U.N.T or uses his sonic screech to blasts the drones apart. Quantum then lands and takes down a few drones.
Sun Sorceress: Dad! Heads up!
The G.R.U.N.T bot is thrown in Quantum's direction as he turns and laser beams in half. Sun Sorceress jumps next to Quantum, who stares at Sun Sorceress with a raised brow.
Quantum: Really?
Sun Sorceress: What? The dad always takes out the trash.
Meanwhile, The Owl flies around, dodging shots from G.R.U.N.T drones. Power Surge and Neon Crane engage other G.R.U.N.T drones with their powers as Thermo and Phantom engage Pterodactyl drones in the sky. Power Surge shoots a bolt that causes debris to fly into their direction, but Neon Crane blasts apart the debris while the Owl uses his wings to stop the debris.
Neon Crane: Sorry, Doc.
The Owl then blasts his sonic screech behind Power Surge and Neon Crane, hitting the attacking G.R.U.N.T drone behind them.
Power Surge: Close one.
The Owl: Always be weary of your surroundings, kids.
Thermo and Phantom continue engaging the Pterodactyl drones until one of the Pterodactyl drones then shoots a rocket as Thermo takes it down by shooting a fireball at it. He then turns to Phantom, smirking.
Thermo: Nothing to it.
Unknowing best to him, another Pterodactyl shoots another missile at Thermo.
Phantom: Alex!
Phantom generates an invisible force field as the missile hits. In slow motion, the explosion surrounds the two, before blasting them into the ground.
Thermo: Okay....didn't see that one coming.
Phantom: No shit.
Dragonfly and Sun Sorceress arrive and helps Thermo and Phantom.
Dragonfly: Come on! Get up! We need to regroup!
Sun Sorceress: And form a plan, cause this is not going so well.
The Supers regroup in the ruins of a parking lot.
Sun Sorceress: We're getting our asses kicked out there.
The Owl: Well, we've never had a challenge like this.
Quantum: You mean besides big flying drones-
As the team attempts to form a plan, a Pterodactyl drone gets a lock on the teams position.
The Owl: Uh, guys....Guys...
Before it can attack, Dragonfly shoots the drone in mid air, before landing next to the team.
Dragonfly: What? You guys weren't paying attention.
Phantom then uses a invisible shield to block off some other attacks.
Thermo: Crap!
The team regroups, but are immediately sighted by a giant bot dub Tyrannosaurus.
Power Surge: Mama Rex! Inbound!
Quantum: We gotta find a way to take it down!
The Tyrannosaurus opens fire as the team uses their powers to block off it's attacks and return fire with their powers, but this has no effect.
Neon Crane: This isn't working!
Quantum: I got a plan! Charles! James! On me!
Quantum and the Owl then fly up as the Tyrannosaurus fires rockets at the two with Dragonfly and The Owl barely dodging or using their powers to take down the rockets. With the Owl and Dragonfly distracting the giant boy, Quantum prepares himself up above.
Quantum: Clear out!
After Dragonfly and the Owl move out of the way, Quantum then toward the Tyrannosaurus bot as Quantum then uses his laser vision to burn a hole straight through the drones head, disabling it. Quantum flips over as he then lands on the ground, before the giant drone falls deactivated. Dragonfly lands on the ground as his helmet unseals his face, before he and Quantum regroup with the rest of the team.
Quantum: Excellent performance, kids.
The Owl: This was an excellent performance indeed.
Dragonfly: V.O.X, kill the simulation.
V.O.X: Yes, Master Parker.
The simulation of the ruins of New York disintegrates back into the room of the Grid.
Quantum: Your performances are becoming more outstanding.
Power Surge: Well, since we now know of a underwater army and killer robots, we're prepared for anything.
The Owl: That remains to be seen, young Joseph.
Dragonfly: Tomorrow will be of course; the wedding. The day after we will work on uniting and our powers chaining in a combined attack.
Sun Sorceress: For now, let's rest up and pick this lesson up after tomorrow. Dismissed.
The Supers leave the grid. Afterwards, James visits John in the office.
James: Dad....
John: James, how can I help you?
James: What was that?
John: The grid.
James: Dad...you know what I mean.
John sighs.
John: It wasn't my intention to.....
James: Dad....ever since the our discovery of the Atlanteans, you've been pushing the team to hard to do better.
John: You remember what we lost....who we lost...cities were destroyed....people died....Arianna... ...
John looks at James with a stern gaze.
James: We know we're not the only ones on this planet...might not be the only ones in this universe.
James: Still, that doesn't mean the kids need to be pushed. We're not just a team, Dad.
James puts his hand on John's shoulder.
James: We're a family.
James leaves the room, before Charles enters.
Charles: He's right, you know?
John: I know. We found these kids and practically raised them. Gave them purpose. It's just....with the Atlanteans amongst us now...we have to be prepared for anything.
Charles: Caspian's been king for three years now. He's keeping peace between us and surface. Ramses is locked away....
John then leans back, looking at the photo of him, Sara, James and Eva as kids.
Charles: You know, you really should tell the kids about what really happened to their mother.
John closes his eyes, then looks back at Charles.
John: Charles...if I were to tell them that there's a possibility, that Sara could've gotten blasted in that portal....that I...that I killed....the kids would try to look for her and then the image that Sara would've wanted would slowly start to perish.
Charles: I know you're trying to protect them, but it's just not fair to them.
Outside the office, Eva listening in, ponders to herself. In the hallway, after exiting the elevator, Josh, Trisha, Alex and Jessica are walking together, stretching after a long exercise.
Alex: Aw, man....I'm gonna need a chiropractor if we keep exercising like the way we are now.
Josh: Screw a chiropractor. I'm gonna need a damn wheelchair.
Jessica: Careful, Josh. You almost forgot you almost ended up in more than a wheelchair.
Trisha: Let's not think about that please.
Jessica: Yeah....other than that guys, we're making progress....I think.
Josh: Progress; I mean, I understand why James is pushing us.
Alex: You're agreeing with all this?
Josh: I mean, dude, think about it; we suddenly discover there's a underwater lifeform that can suddenly destroy cities. Just imagine what else there could be.
Alex: What like? Something like Gremlins?
Trisha: Uh...no...please not Gremlins.
Jessica: Why not Gremlins? That would be awesome to fight.
Josh: Look, all I'm saying is, guys. There could be something else other than ocean people....like maybe outside of Earth.
Alex: Josh, if anything like that ever does come to Earth or exist, we'll put it into consideration and I'll give you ten bucks for it, too....
Josh: Bet.
Josh and Alex shake hands, but Alex briefly singes Josh's hand.
Josh: Ow!
Alex: Hey, man! That's so when I win this bet, you remember.
Josh: Huh...okay....
Alex: Alright. Can we go to the chow hall? I'm hungry.
Josh and Alex walk ahead, before Trisha and Jessica stand back and shake their heads.
Jessica: Men. Always doing silly bets and then regretting it later. Why can't they ever be like girls?
Trisha: Tell me about it.
Jessica: Yet, don't forget; you are marrying sparky.
Trisha: I am marrying sparky.
