Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Brother Long, can you please stop hitting me?

Long Aotian glanced at Hu Yuying behind him and inexplicably wanted to laugh; having her follow him felt like he had grown a small tail.

After returning to the classroom,

Hu Yuying started rummaging through her backpack.

Soon, she pulled out several old notebooks from her backpack.

The contents of these notebooks were all recorded by her little by little.

They were all the key points the teacher had explained.

Hu Yuying's good academic performance was half due to these notebooks.

Now, she placed all these notebooks on Long Aotian's desk.

"These are the knowledge points from first year high school, and these are from second year…" Hu Yuying categorized the notebooks to make it easier for Long Aotian to review them.

Looking at the stack of notebooks, sweat began to bead on Long Aotian's forehead: "Isn't this a bit too exaggerated?"

"It's not exaggerated; these are all knowledge points," Hu Yuying didn't think much of it. If she hadn't been bullied so often, she could have written even more.

"Alright, I'll take a look first." Long Aotian had dropped out of high school and spent years struggling in society. With the development of society and his constant use of smartphones, he hadn't written a single word with a pen in who knows how many years.

Looking at the neat handwriting in the notebooks, he couldn't help but pick up a pen and start writing and drawing in a notebook.

Seeing Long Aotian's notes in the book, Hu Yuying roughly understood his learning situation.

"Brother Long, how about I tutor you?"

This was Hu Yuying's only marketable skill at the moment, and the only thing she could do to help Long Aotian.

Brother Long was covering for her, and she would help him with his studies, which at least proved that she wasn't completely useless.

"Won't it interfere with your studies?" Long Aotian asked with a slight cough.

Only he knew how poor his foundation was.

The villainous male supporting character, Long Aotian, in the original novel, also had poor academic performance. His father spent money and used connections to send him to a third-rate vocational university.

Because the plot still needed the villainous male supporting character, this third-rate vocational university was located directly opposite the university Hu Yuying attended.

Most importantly, there was no mention in the original novel of Hu Yuying tutoring the villainous male supporting character.

The third year of high school was already academically demanding. Would tutoring interfere with Hu Yuying, ultimately causing her to underperform and miss out on her dream university?

If she missed out, would Hu Yuying still be able to become a rising business star in the future? That was a problem!

Hu Yuying looked at Long Aotian, her eyes unconsciously reddening.

"What are you doing?" Seeing Hu Yuying's eyes redden, Long Aotian immediately felt uncomfortable all over.

"It's nothing," Hu Yuying mumbled softly.

She was just a little touched inside.

People who have been ignored and bullied for a long time are like this.

As long as the other person shows a little kindness, she will be touched for a long time.

No one had ever cared if it would interfere with her.

They only ever ordered her around...

But this big brother, whom she had only met today, not only helped her but also took her on as his follower, treated her to lunch, and now even cared if tutoring him would interfere with her own studies.

The kindness of strangers always inadvertently breaks one's defenses.

"If it's nothing, why are your eyes red? Don't tell me you're about to cry from being touched by me; watch out, I'll punch you!"

"You're going to punch me even though I'm touched by you?" Hu Yuying asked softly.

Long Aotian saw Hu Yuying looking at him with wide, watery eyes and uncomfortably turned his head away, though his voice softened considerably: "Don't think that just because you're touched by me, I won't punch you."

If it were anyone else, they would probably throw a tantrum upon hearing this.

But Hu Yuying was different; she was truly scared from being bullied. So, she secretly looked at Long Aotian and timidly mumbled, "Brother Long, then… could you please not punch me?"

Seeing Hu Yuying's timid appearance, Long Aotian was successfully amused: "Such a spineless look. Don't tell anyone you're my follower when you're out."

There weren't many lectures in the third year of high school.

The afternoon was basically spent on practice problems.

Hu Yuying checked Long Aotian's test paper, and the more she looked, the more shocked she became. It was simply unbelievable; she didn't know how Long Aotian managed to precisely avoid the correct answer for every single question.

"How is it?" Long Aotian asked with a frown. He had done this test very diligently, and it was the first time he had picked up a pen again after so many years, so he was still a little expectant.

"9."

"What? Over 90 points?" Long Aotian was stunned: "Holy crap, I didn't expect I was actually a genius?!"

It was false to say that Long Aotian wasn't excited.

If he had known he was such a genius, he would have tightened his belt and finished high school back then.

If he had finished high school and gone to university, would his life have changed?

Hu Yuying looked at Long Aotian's excited and thrilled expression and said awkwardly, "Brother Long, it's not over 90 points, it's 9 points."

"Impossible! Look again carefully. With so many fill-in-the-blank questions, if I just stomped on it, I could guess over twenty points. How could I only score nine points?"

Long Aotian would rather suspect that Hu Yuying had misread it than believe that the paper he had diligently completed had only scored nine points.

"Brother Long, I've already looked carefully. You only got nine points, and two of those points were extra for neatness."

"You mean I only scored 7 points?" Long Aotian found it a bit hard to accept.

If he had just written randomly, it would have been fine, but the key was that he had written it very diligently!

Hu Yuying looked at Long Aotian, who was deeply immersed in self-doubt, and said softly, "Brother Long, look at this problem; it should be solved this way."

Hu Yuying began to work out the problem on a scratchpad, and soon a complete formula was derived.

Hu Yuying broke down each step of the solution very clearly.

Long Aotian only took one look, and it wasn't that he knew how to do it, but that he understood it.

"What about this problem then? I spent a lot of effort solving this one."

"But you misread the question. This problem asks you to find this, but you calculated that. Brother Long, please re-read the question carefully."

Hu Yuying focused on the practice problem, and the tone of her voice and the confidence shining in her eyes made her seem like a completely different person.

This kind of demeanor was completely different.

Long Aotian couldn't help but take another look.

Hu Yuying, who was explaining the problem, didn't hear Long Aotian's response.

So she looked up, their eyes met, and Hu Yuying subconsciously touched her face: "Did I get something on my face?"

"No, it's just that you look very beautiful when you smile."

"You should smile more often."

Hu Yuying bit her red lip slightly, and a blush visibly spread to her ear tips at a speed visible to the naked eye.

"It's… it's alright." After speaking, she nervously turned slightly to the side, her hands constantly making small movements, as if only through these continuous small actions could she cover her inner shyness and embarrassment...
