Inside Shrek Academy, Lan Minghua sensed the approaching spirit power and sent a telepathic message to Li Yusong, who was guarding the main gate.
"Old Li, someone is coming. Just let them straight in."
"Okay, got it, Huazi."
Though Li Yusong didn't know why Lan Minghua was giving such an order, his job was just to follow it.
Less than a minute later, two figures—one tall, one small—appeared at the academy's gate. They were none other than Dugu Bo and his granddaughter, Dugu Yan.
"Grandpa, is your master in this academy?" Dugu Yan asked, curiously scanning Shrek Academy. She was eager to see what kind of person could be her grandfather's master—after all, he had cured a poison that even her grandfather could not.
Dugu Bo looked at Shrek Academy, his voice tinged with excitement. "That's right, Yanyan. Later, don't speak out of turn. Just listen to Grandpa."
Dugu Yan nodded obediently. Although she was Dugu Bo's granddaughter, she never used her status to bully others. Overall, the Dugu family's upbringing was quite good.
Daring not to force his way in, Dugu Bo respectfully led Dugu Yan toward the main gate.
After Lan Minghua's warning, Li Yusong hadn't relaxed for a second. He saw the two figures approaching and knew they were the ones Lan Minghua had mentioned. But when he got a clear look, he nearly jumped out of his skin.
"Poison… Poison Douluo, Your Excellency?!" Li Yusong exclaimed.
Seeing that the gatekeeper at Shrek Academy recognized him, Dugu Bo felt a bit more at ease.
Li Yusong hurriedly opened the gate and smiled. "Your Excellency, please come in."
Dugu Bo nodded in acknowledgment and entered with Dugu Yan. Watching Dugu Bo's retreating back, Li Yusong wiped nonexistent sweat from his brow.
"Phew… Aside from Huazi, every other Titled Douluo puts immense pressure on me. That was terrifying."
"But what is the Poison Douluo doing here at Shrek?"
Then again, with Lan Minghua on the grounds, Li Yusong decided not to worry about it and returned to his lazy gatekeeping. After all, the last two Titled Douluo who'd tried to cause trouble were now disabled.
Inside the academy, Tang San and the others were still running laps with heavy stones on their backs. It seemed this was their only form of training.
Ma Hongjun's stamina was poor to begin with, and coupled with the effects of Lan Minghua's "chrysanthemum pressure point technique," he was completely drained. The past few days of intense training had utterly wrecked his body.
"Boss… Boss Dai, I can't go on…"
On his fourth lap, Ma Hongjun's legs gave out, and he tripped, falling flat on his face.
Dai Mubai also stopped, panting heavily with his hands on his knees. His face was sallow, his eye bags were swollen, and he had two glaring dark circles. If not for his golden hair, he could have been mistaken for a panda.
"Huff… huff… Damn it. Running with these stones hasn't helped at all. My body feels like it's about to collapse."
Dai Mubai was drenched in a cold sweat, exhausted after just a few laps. Ma Hongjun was even worse off, lying on the ground like a dead dog after only four.
Before they could rest for long, Yu Xiaogang's voice cut in.
"Dai Mubai, Ma Hongjun, why have you two stopped? It's bad enough you can't beat Little San, but you can't even surpass Xiao Wu, a girl?!"
Yu Xiaogang looked at them with utter disdain, disappointed in their failure. "What a pair of wastes. I lower myself to teach you, and you don't even appreciate it. If it weren't for Flender, you wouldn't even be qualified for my instruction!"
Yu Xiaogang had planned to whip Dai Mubai's group into shape to prove the power of his theories, hoping Oscar's group would then flock to him. Instead, Dai Mubai and Ma Hongjun had turned out to be useless. Under his training, they had only gotten weaker. It was a great loss of face for him.
Veins bulged on Dai Mubai's and Ma Hongjun's foreheads as they glared at Yu Xiaogang.
Damn it! If you weren't Tang San's teacher, I'd have killed you for daring to talk to me like that! Dai Mubai thought, shooting Yu Xiaogang a fierce look. He, a dignified Spirit Grandmaster, was actually being lectured by this puny Great Spirit Master.
Ma Hongjun had already had enough of Yu Xiaogang. Couldn't he see he was exhausted? People with kidney deficiency were known to be irritable, and Yu Xiaogang's words had just stomped all over their dignity. What did he mean, can't even surpass a girl?!
"Yu Xiaogang, that's it! I've had enough! Die!"
Miraculously, Ma Hongjun scrambled to his feet, eyes wide and cheeks puffed as he took aim at Yu Xiaogang.
"First Spirit Skill: Phoenix Fire Line!"
A searing magenta line of fire shot from his mouth.
Yu Xiaogang was stunned. He never imagined Ma Hongjun would actually attack him. Although he was a level 29 Great Spirit Master, his actual combat ability was lower than Ma Hongjun's.
"AHHH!!!"
A scream tore through the air as the evil fire ignited Yu Xiaogang's already sparse hair. His head ablaze, Yu Xiaogang ran about like a headless chicken, his previous arrogance completely gone.
"Teacher!" Tang San roared, glaring at Ma Hongjun with murder in his eyes. He dropped his stone and used Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track to dash to Yu Xiaogang's side.
Panicked and blinded by the heat, Yu Xiaogang ran headfirst into a protruding wooden plank and collapsed.
Tang San reached him and, seeing his head on fire, began stomping on it furiously. However, the evil fire was notoriously hard to extinguish; he couldn't put it out alone.
"Damn it, Fatty's evil fire is too stubborn! Xiao Wu, come help!"
Xiao Wu set down her stone and trotted over, lifting her foot and stomping down hard on Yu Xiaogang.
PLOP!
"Huh? Why is it so hard to pull my foot out?" Xiao Wu asked, confused.
At that moment, Yu Xiaogang, who had been on the verge of passing out, let out another bloodcurdling scream. It turned out Xiao Wu was wearing high heels, and each stomp was like being impaled.
Nearby, Oscar and the others, who had been cultivating quietly, heard the commotion and looked over, bewildered. They were greeted by the sight of the ever-respectful Tang San brutally beating Yu Xiaogang. What they couldn't understand was why Dai Mubai and the others were even letting a Great Spirit Master train them in the first place.
On the roof, Lan Minghua watched the scene with a mocking smirk. He doesn't even have the strength, yet he dares to teach others?
A while later, the evil fire finally died down, having burnt off all of Yu Xiaogsng's hair. His face was swollen like a pig's head; his own father wouldn't have recognized him.
Tang San rushed to help him up. "Teacher, are you okay?" he asked with concern.
Yu Xiaogang's mouth twitched. He nearly fainted from pure rage. I look like this, and you ask if I'm okay? But his face was so swollen his lips were sealed shut, and all that came out were muffled whimpers.
Tang San's eyes darkened as he stared at Ma Hongjun, his killing intent palpable. You dared to touch my teacher, Ma Hongjun. You have found your path to death.
Ma Hongjun, however, looked completely unbothered. Yu Xiaogang was Tang San's teacher, not his.
Just as Tang San was about to make a move, Lan Minghua's voice echoed across the field.
"Oscar, your junior brother is here. Go and receive him."
Oscar's interest was piqued. He was curious what kind of person his third junior brother was.
As he stood up, Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan appeared before the group. But before Oscar could even step forward, Ma Hongjun's eyes lit up with a lecherous fire as he shamelessly scanned Dugu Yan's graceful figure.
Although his lower body had no reaction, he couldn't control his mouth.
"Boss Dai, look at her! That girl is a real stunner!"
