A thousand gold coins!
The mercenaries' hesitation vanished instantly. To men who lived by the blade, gold outweighed fear.
"As the Deputy Leader commands!" they shouted in unison.
"Good. Send a few to track her movements. The rest, be ready to strike at any time.
And remember.....no harm is to come to the Little Fairy Doctor!
" Mu Li ordered, his eyes glinting with greed and ambition.
Soon, one of the scouts came running back. "Deputy Leader! Target sighted!"
"Move!" Mu Li snapped
At the same moment, the Little Fairy Doctor walked down the street, her white dress swaying lightly, a small woven basket filled with vegetables hanging from her arm.
But as she turned the corner, her eyes met a familiar — and unwelcome — face.
"Mu Li…" she murmured under her breath, her brows furrowing slightly. "Just my luck."
The Wolfhead mercenaries approached with obvious intent.
Back in the Magical Beast Range, Mu Li had once abandoned their mission and fled during a wolf attack, leaving the weaker herb gatherers to die.
That selfish act had long filled her with disdain.
Now, seeing him again, she felt nothing but disgust.
"Ah, Little Fairy Doctor, long time no see!" Mu Li said with a smile that didn't reach his eyes as he approached.
She didn't even bother replying .....only shot him a cold, disdainful look before turning to leave.
Mu Li's expression darkened. "Take her!"
The order fell like a hammer.
The mercenaries moved instantly, surrounding her in a tight circle.
Shing! Shing!
Two sharp blades flashed, their cold edges pressing against her slender neck.
Her heart skipped a beat, though her eyes remained fierce. "Mu Li! What do you think you're doing?!"
"Nothing serious," Mu Li said with a smirk. "Just inviting you to visit our headquarters for a while."
He shot an angry look at the two men holding the blades.
"Don't hold them so close! If she's injured, I'll have your heads!"
The Little Fairy Doctor clenched her fists. "You'll regret this!
Do you really think the Myriad Medicine Hall will let you get away with it? Master Yao will...."
"Yao? You mean that merchant?" Mu Li snorted with contempt.
"Our Wolfhead Mercenary Group fears no merchant."
"Take her away!"
Under the startled eyes of nearby townsfolk, the Little Fairy Doctor was forcibly taken away by the mercenaries.
No one dared to step forward. Even those who burned with anger could only grit their teeth in silence.
Still, a few hurried off toward the Myriad Medicine Hall ..... to report the shocking news.
Go inside, Little Doctor Fairy."
After being taken to the Wolf Head Mercenary Group's base, the Little Doctor Fairy was directly pushed into the private room of their young leader, Mu Li.
Thrown into the room, she turned sharply, glaring at the men at the door.
"Mu Li, what madness has possessed you?"
"Madness?" Mu Li sneered coldly, his gaze gliding over her graceful figure.
"With such charm and elegance, how could a man not be tempted? Tonight, stay here and keep me company."
"You… you dare!"
Her face turned pale with anger. She never thought Mu Li would go this far.
"Why wouldn't I dare?" He stepped forward, the sneer on his face deepening.
"Don't come any closer!"
She instinctively retreated as he advanced, until her back met the wall.
Outside, the mercenaries shut the door quietly, leaving the two alone inside.
Yet, Mu Li didn't rush forward. He simply stood there, as if waiting for something.
To her, his stillness only meant he was planning something worse.
Her slender hand reached for the small pouch tied at her waist.....one that contained a special medicinal powder.
It wasn't fatal, but it could cloud a person's senses.
"Time's up," Mu Li muttered to himself, then began walking slowly toward her.
With each step, she retreated again and again. She knew she wasn't his match.
He was a Six-Star Fighter, while she was only a barely trained herbalist.
"Little Doctor Fairy, stop resisting," Mu Li said as he pressed forward.
Soon she was forced into a corner.
"What's that!" she suddenly cried, pointing behind him.
Mu Li instinctively turned his head, and at that moment, she threw the pouch of powder straight at him.
But his reflexes were sharp. He dodged aside easily.
"Trying to drug me?" He gave a disdainful laugh and pulled out a jade bottle.
Uncorking it, he flung its contents into the air toward her, then stepped back and sat down at the table.
"Cough… cough!"
The fine dust drifted through the room. She inhaled some of it, and warmth quickly spread through her body.
"You despicable man… you gave me that kind of drug…" Her face darkened with fury, though her eyes had begun to blur.
