Theodore blinked in surprise as the pale-skinned girl with crimson eyes offered him a warm, almost teasing smile.
"My name is Lucien Vespera," she said softly, her voice smooth but carrying a hint of mischief.
Theodore's cheeks warmed as they started walking together toward the academy building. Neither of them expected it, but fate had a small twist prepared—they ended up being classmates.
In the hallway, Mikaela spotted them from afar. Her eyes widened as she saw Theodore walking side by side with Lucien, their pace perfectly in sync. That sight was enough to spark her curiosity like wildfire.
Narrowing her eyes, she began quietly tailing them, trying to hear their conversation without being noticed. Unfortunately for her, Amethyst noticed her suspicious movements.
"What are you doing?" Amethyst asked, raising an eyebrow.
Mikaela spun around dramatically and whispered with an exaggerated gasp, "Theodore already has a girlfriend before you, Amethyst!"
"What?!" Amethyst's eyes went wide. Without hesitation, he joined her creeping mission, now just as curious—and perhaps a little protective.
The two continued sneaking behind Theodore and Lucien until, suddenly, Lucien stopped. She turned her head slightly, her crimson eyes glinting with amusement.
"I have something to do," she told Theodore with a small smile before stepping aside to leave.
Before walking away completely, she glanced directly at the two lurking "spies."
"Good morning… creeps," she said sweetly. "Why were you following Theodore and me?"
Mikaela and Amethyst froze on the spot—caught red-handed.
