Chapter 27 - ‎(Chapter 27) The Tragedy Behind the Dragon King's Wrath‎

‎Long ago, when the current Dragon King was still a young crown prince, he fell in love with someone unexpected—a noblewoman from the Black Lion Beastman race. She was graceful, wise, and strong in both will and spirit. Her black mane shimmered like obsidian under sunlight, and her golden eyes held the pride of a thousand ancestors. To him, she was the perfect queen.

‎The prince, arrogant but sincere at the time, offered her a place at his side. "Become my queen," he said, standing proudly at the peak of the Dragon Spire. But her answer shattered him.

‎> "I don't want a selfish king," she said calmly, looking him in the eye.

‎That rejection planted a seed of hatred in his heart. Though he didn't act immediately, the insult haunted him for centuries. Out of pride, he let the Black Lion Clan live—but he never forgot.

‎Hundreds of years later, a child was born among the Black Lions. A boy whose birth shook the heavens. The sky wept with storms, and lightning danced across the land for days. Thunder roared like war drums—the world itself trembled. The Dragon King, now fully seated on the throne after murdering his own older brother to claim power, felt something he hadn't in centuries:

‎Fear.

‎The Black Lion child's power echoed through the ley lines of the world. The Dragon King's mother, the only one who knew his darkest secret—that he had killed his own brother to steal the throne—warned him:

‎> "He is the storm your guilt has summoned."

‎Worse still, the Dragon King possessed a rare, cursed ability: precognition. Every 20 years, he glimpsed fragments of the future. And in one such vision, he saw it—

‎A furious Black Lion with glowing eyes and a mane of crackling thunder, roaring so violently it cracked the sky.

‎Mountains shattered. Oceans boiled. The planet itself trembled as the beast's roar threatened to split it in half.

‎Terrified of this future, the Dragon King acted preemptively.

‎He ordered the extermination of half the Beastman race.

‎Entire villages were burned. Elders were beheaded. Children were shackled and thrown into slavery. What remained of the proud Black Lions was buried under rubble, blood, and chains.

‎He watched the fires from his throne, grinning.

‎> "Now," he whispered, "no storm can reach me."

‎For a time, he was right. His empire grew. His name was praised. He took ten wives—some were dragonkin, others were not. He believed he had won.

‎But fate does not forget.

‎From the dark lands of the west, a new Demon King rose—one with magic that rivaled the gods themselves. Whispers claimed he was stronger than the Archangels, stronger even than the ancient Seraphims. The Dragon King raged at the idea of being replaced or outmatched.

‎So he manipulated a new hero from the Human Kingdom, giving him a holy sword and sending him to destroy the demon race. The greed of dragons grew, consuming continents, enslaving the weak, rewriting history in their favor.

‎And yet, there was one more betrayal the Dragon King couldn't control.

‎The Legendary Dragonkin, a woman of unmatched might and prestige, once considered his greatest pawn, refused to follow his orders any longer. Tired of his corruption and thirst for power, she vanished from the Empire, escaping into the mountains to live with her chosen partner.

‎> With her departure, the Dragon King lost not just a powerful ally, but the last piece of the heart he once had.

‎He who was once innocent, who mourned the murder of his older sister by the hands of their former king, was now no better than the tyrant he had overthrown. Transformed by betrayal, rejection, and power, the Dragon King became one of the strongest and most feared rulers in history—a being who could rival gods, but who had long since lost his soul.
