Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Dangerous Game

I barely slept after discovering the prophecy in the library, my mind racing between Helena's warning about Victor and the overwhelming realization of my Moon Goddess heritage. When morning came, I was grateful for the distraction of joining Damon for his usual business briefings.

That distraction lasted exactly thirty-seven minutes.

"Sir," Marcus, Damon's assistant, burst into the breakfast room with an expression that immediately put me on high alert. "We have a problem. Multiple problems, actually."

Damon set down his coffee cup with controlled precision, but I could feel tension radiating from him through our mate bond. "Explain."

"Cross Industries has just terminated three major contracts," Marcus said, consulting his tablet. "The Singapore infrastructure project, the Edinburgh shipping facility, and the renewable energy partnership in Wales. They're invoking the instability clause."

"What instability clause?" I asked, though I suspected I already knew.
