Chapter 8 - 8. Girl, You’re Cold…

St. Morris Middle School.

"Guys... I don't feel so good."

That sentence brought the rest of them from their fantasy island. Fantasy in the sense that some of them started talking of what they would do when they got home, some kept to themselves like Juliet who was thinking of her mom and her runaway sister, some others about how they were going to change schools, saying St. Morris was "cursed" while others just discussed normally. But hearing Collins who: one, kept to himself all those times and two, was bitten, turned on the panic-mode which was momentarily turned off. The girl who gave the theory about zombies 'Sasha' spoke up first.

"Sorry, you said what??" sounding both panicked and angry.

Collins, after seeing their reactions, fear gripped him. "I-I-I said I do-on't fe-"

"Jeez, he doesn't feel good." the senior guy said while looking at Sasha.

Hearing that brought chills from nowhere. After an uncalled silence for about 10 seconds, someone spoke up.

"Does this mean you are really infected?"

"Heyyyyy... let's not jump into any rash decisions...it might just be a misunderstanding" the boy who argued with Sasha earlier said. It was clear he still stood by his theory that the zombies' theory was bullcrap.

On hearing that, Sasha laughed hard. She laughed to the extent everyone else stopped talking. As she succeeded in grabbing everyone's attention, she stopped laughing and started shouting.

"MISUNDERSTANDING?!?!?!?!? Do you even hear yourself? Collins was fine in the morning now he's not feeling well and yet you say it's a misunderstanding. What more proof do you need? He's INFECTED with ZOMBIE VIRUS!!"

Sasha was about to be taken seriously until the moment she said, "Zombie Virus". Everyone else in the classroom exchanged glances and let out a good laugh. For some that was the first laugh they had that day, like Juliet. And it was all thanks to Sasha. Of course, the laughter didn't bode well with her. She got annoyed, raised her middle finger and started swearing.

"Fuck you all. dickheads. 'Fuck you all laughing for?? You know that would have attracted some of them, right?"

"Yeah, if they have 'zombie virus'..." one of them joked.

They all started laughing again, louder than before.

"Hahahahahahaha!!!!! Oh Sasha!!!"

"Hahahah-

[Bang!...

BANGGGG!!!!]

Something started banging on their class doors and windows. They looked and saw it was their 'zombie' classmates. No one needed to tell that 'Zombie Virus' was actually viable. Meanwhile Sasha smiled and crossed her legs in satisfaction. While the boys tried to add more weight to hold the door, while the girls started debating on what to do.

"Hey Sasha, what do we do?"

Sasha frowned. "Oh my? .... Now you guys want to listen?! Though all I was saying was bullshit..."

"Oh please... just because we are asking you doesn't mean you're 100% right." One of the boys holding the door said.

"Says the guy who has been wrong the whole time" Sasha fired back

The senior guy shook his head.

"Instead of them to figure out solutions to the two problems at hand."

It was probably only him that remembered Collins. Everyone else was focused on the ones outside.

"Guys stop fighting... this door's becoming hard to hold...Even the windows are starting to crack." a girl said.

" Isn't it because Sasha's being a bitch??"

Sasha decided to ignore that statement. Instead, she went straight to the important part.

"Those things react mostly to sound, while some can see...I'm not really sure about these ones." she responded. "So, in other words, shut the fuck up, they leave."

"Of course they see. What's the use of eye color then?" someone argued.

"Not only that... how are they following us around?"

"Yea!"

Sasha started getting annoyed again. "Jeez, I said I'm NOT SURE."

Juliet decided to speak up. "They are blind."

"How are you sure?"

"I was almost caught by one. End of story" Juliet sneered

To Juliet, that was a good enough explanation. But to the others that was not even half-baked.

"So, you are not even sure then...."

Juliet what? ...I'm sure"

"Jesus, who cares about the story?? the glasses will soon give in!!" the senior guy shouted.

"Wait!! Instead of thinking how to send them away, let's think of how to run away."

That sent chills down everyone. No one dared to think of how they would run.

Someone decided to break the sudden silence.

"Are you sure? ...um...if...if we do that some-

"Guys" someone else cut in.

"Some of us may-

"Guys,"

"Some of us may die-

"GUYYYSSSS!!!"

Everybody got pissed. Why the heck is this guy shouting when we are trying to be quiet?

"Broo! What's the problem? Why are you shouting??"

"Thank you. Collin's getting worse...what do we do??"

"Gosh, we forgot about the zombie in the room." Someone tried joking.

Sasha looked at the joker and rolled her eyes. "Very funny. I suggest we throw him out before he turns."

Another girl spoke up. "Jesus... we can't even open the doors now. So how?"

Sasha looked at all of them expecting at least one would get the hint. None did.

"Jesus Christ! people, through the damn window!"

That was alarming. Window? What is she thinking?

"But we are on the second floor... you want us to throw one of us? He could die!!"

Sasha was surprised. 'These naive kids' she thought.

"Jeez, he's dead already. Now joe, don't pretend like you actually give a fuck about Collins." Sasha responded.

Everyone looked at her. The senior guy shook his head and faced Sasha.

"Girl, you cold..."

Sasha stood in shock. "See who's talking..." she fired back.

"Hey, I said don't let anyone in. Not throw anyone out."

"That's actually the only viable option now... we can't wait till he dies on us..." someone who supported Sasha's theory said.

"Actually, that is what we are meant to do. Wait till he drops, then out he goes." 'joe' said

"No, no, no. Can you carry a dead body? How are you sure he wouldn't even start turning before he dies huh?" Sasha butted in.

Joe faced Sasha. "So, you want to kill him?"

"I do not want to kill him. I want us to kill him. Before he kills us!!"

'NO!'

'YES!!'

That was how an argument started. They all got pretty heated in the debate that they didn't even notice when Collins sneaked to the window.
