The walls of the inner sanctum shook as another wave of heralds slammed into the outer defenses. Roars echoed through the stone corridors, mixed with the twang of arrows and the screams of dying creatures.
Aiden stood in the reinforced chamber, sweat already sticking his shirt to his back, fractures glowing faintly along his arms. The convergence was hitting harder now, pulling at something deep inside him.
