Chapter 83 - Chapter 81 : Hidden Chamber Revealed

Bi Yao blinked and leaned forward, staring down into the still water. After a moment of thought, her eyes lit up.

"Yes! No one has entered the Dripping Blood Cave for hundreds of years.

Over time, a thick layer of sand and silt must have settled here.

Even if a mechanism is hidden below, we wouldn't be able to see it with our eyes. We'll have to remove the mud first."

She turned back to Zhang Xiaofan, her face softening. "I'm sorry. I wrongly accused you just now.

You're not a shameless person."

Zhang Xiaofan nearly coughed blood. In truth, he really had been sneaking glances, but now she was apologizing as though he were innocent.

Feeling both embarrassed and guilty, he scratched his head.

"It's fine. Given the situation, your reaction was understandable."

Bi Yao smiled then....her smile was like a lotus blooming on the water, gentle and pure.

She stretched out her slender hand, dipped it into the pond, and began brushing aside the mud.

Zhang Xiaofan quickly stopped her. "This kind of work should be done by a man. Step back."

Bi Yao nodded, retreating without protest.

Zhang Xiaofan raised his hand. "Six-Combination Mirror!"

A shield of azure light wrapped protectively around them both.

Then, summoning the Six-Combination Mirror, he directed it into the pond.

At once, golden light burst forth.

Boom!

A deafening explosion shook the cave. Water and mud erupted into the air, splattering against the stone walls.

The golden light from the mirror spread across the pond, preventing the mud from falling back in.

The bottom of the pond became clear in an instant.

All the silt and dust vanished, leaving only a thin layer of water.

Bi Yao's eyes widened. She raised her thumb in admiration.

"Impressive! Who would've thought the Six-Combination Mirror could be used like this?

But if the founder of your Qingyun Sect knew you used his prized treasure just to dig mud, he might crawl out of his coffin to beat you with his bones."

Zhang Xiaofan only chuckled, pointing toward the bottom of the pond.

Bi Yao followed his gaze and saw a hand-shaped indentation carved into the rock. She hurried to the edge, reached out, and pressed her palm against it.

Click… click…

The ground beneath them trembled as two heavy stone doors slowly rotated.

"Ah!" Bi Yao gasped as the floor suddenly gave way. Her body lurched forward, falling into the darkness.

Without hesitation, Zhang Xiaofan leapt after her and caught her tightly in his arms.

The stone doors above slammed shut, sealing them in as dust filled the air.

The Six-Combination Mirror glowed brightly, blocking the choking dust.

When the air cleared, they found themselves in a hidden passage.

Ahead stood another massive stone door.Bi Yao rushed forward, pressing her hands against the door and pushing with all her strength.Rumble… rumble

…The stone creaked and slowly opened.Zhang Xiaofan strolled forward calmly."Hey!" Bi Yao cried.

"I'm here straining to push this thing, and you just walk in like nothing's happening?

Not even helping?"Zhang Xiaofan gave her a friendly pat on the shoulder and a thumbs-up.

"Good work, brother."Bi Yao huffed. "Who's your brother? Hmph!" She let go of the door and followed him inside.

The Six-Combination Mirror lit up the chamber faintly, but the room was too vast. Bi Yao flicked her fingers and summoned a ball of flame.

It shot into a candlestick.Bang! The flame caught, and one by one the other candlesticks in the chamber lit up.

Soon, the entire secret chamber glowed with flickering firelight.

The chamber was enormous, but there were no other exits besides the doorway they had entered.

Against the far wall, a skeleton sat slumped, draped in tattered robes.

Bi Yao's eyes narrowed as she walked closer.

"Could this be the infamous old monster who spread terror eight hundred years ago?" She reached out to pull the decayed robe from its head.

But the moment her hand touched the cloth, a burst of black mist erupted, wrapping around her wrist."

Ancient Corpse Poison!"Her expression tightened, but she quickly raised her other hand.

The magical energy of the Sadness Flower bracelet on her wrist flared to life.

Blue light surged, absorbing the poisonous mist until it faded away.

Bi Yao let out a breath. "As expected… it really is that black-hearted old ghost.

Truly insidious, even in death.

"Zhang Xiaofan pointed at the skeleton. "Your eyesight is sharp.

You can even recognize him when he's nothing but bones.

"Bi Yao nodded. "That man was the master of the Blood Refining Hall eight hundred years ago.

With the Bloodthirsty Pearl and his powerful cultivation, he raised the Blood Refining Hall to its peak.

For many years, it stood as the strongest sect."Zhang Xiaofan only replied with a soft "Oh."Bi Yao frowned.

"What do you mean, 'oh'? Is that all you have to say?"Zhang Xiaofan gestured toward the skeleton.

"No matter how great he once was, no matter how glorious his reputation, in the end he is still just bones.

"Bi Yao smirked. "And you think you'll be any different in a few hundred years?

"Zhang Xiaofan raised his head, his voice firm. "Of course.

My greatest goal is to become an immortal. If I succeed, then even after hundreds of years, I will not turn into a skeleton.

"Bi Yao froze, her eyes wide with disbelief.

"Immortal? You still dare to dream of becoming an immortal?

"Her voice carried a mixture of surprise and doubt, echoing in the silent chamber. To be continued…
