....
One hour later.
The arena stood silent, tension thick in the air as two figures faced each other.
Qi Hao, dressed in his pristine green robes, stood tall, his gaze sharp and filled with barely concealed hostility.
Yet, maintaining his image as the
dignified senior brother, he cupped his hands and spoke with forced politeness:
"Qi Hao of Longshou Peak, requests Junior Brother Zhang's guidance."
Zhang Xiaofan scoffed, waving his hand dismissively.
"Cut the act. You're itching to break my ribs with one strike, aren't you?"
Qi Hao's mask of civility cracked
"Correct. Two years ago, you ambushed me, leaving me coughing blood. That humiliation has festered in my heart ever since."
His fingers tightened around his sword.
"Today, I will repay you tenfold. Ten strikes-ten times the pain.
Zhang Xiaofan smirked.
"Then stop talking and fight."
Qi Hao didn't rush in. Instead, he studied Zhang Xiaofan carefully.
He hadn't witnessed the battle against Lu Xueqi-he'd been fighting Zeng Shushu at the time. But if this junior.
brother had defeated the prodigy of Xiaozhufeng, his cultivation must have
reached the eighth level of Jade Pure. I must be cautious. No mistakes.
Around the arena, thousands of disciples watched eagerly, debating the outcome. "Who will win? Qi Hao or Zhang
Xiaofan?"
"Obviously Qi Hao! He placed second in the last Seven Peaks Competition sixty years ago. Now, his strength is even
greater!"
"Exactly. Dazhu Peak didn't even make the top eight last time. For Zhang Xiaofan to reach the finals is already al miracle."
"But did you see his fight with Lu Xueqi? She used the Divine Sword Thunder Control Technique and still lost!"
"That doesn't mean he can beat Oi
Hao!"
The Decisive Strike Qi Hao, hearing the murmurs, decided to act.
Zhang Xiaofan hadn't shown any openings-his stance was flawless, his
aura steady.
How? He's only trained for five years!
How is his combat sense this refined?
Gritting his teeth, Qi Hao lunged forward, his Frostblade Sword gleaming with icy light as he slashed downward with full force.
Zhang Xiaofan moved.
The Fire Stick in his hand erupted with
a blinding emerald radiance as he swung it in a wide arc.
BANG!
The instant the two weapons collide Qi Hao's expression twisted in shock.
An overwhelming force-like al mountain crashing down-slammed into his blade, sending violent tremors through his arms.
Before he could react, the Fire Stick smashed through his guard and struck. his chest.
CRACK! CRACK!
The sound of breaking ribs echoed across the silent arena.
Qi Hao's body was flung backward line a ragdoll, crashing outside the ring in a heap.
"Cough-cough-!"
Blood sprayed from his lips as he clutched his chest, his face contorted
in agony.
He tried to push himself up-but his limbs refused to obey.
Deafening Silence
The entire square fell into stunned silence.
The disciples of Longshou Peak stared in disbelief.
Their invincible senior brother-defeated in one strike?
The same disciples who had been chanting "Qi Hao will win!" now stood frozen, their faces burning with embarrassment.
Then-
"ZHANG XIAOFAN! ZHANG XIAOFAN!" The crowd erupted.
Cheers thundered across the square as disciples from every peak roared his name.
Zhang Xiaofan stood at the center of the arena, his heart pounding with exhilaration.
Celebration and Fury
Song Daren and the other Dazhu Peak disciples rushed onto the stage, lifting Zhang Xiaofan into the air.
"Dazhu Peak takes first place! Junior Brother is unstoppable!"
Tian Ling'er watched anxiously. "Be careful! Don't drop him!"
Lu Xueqi, standing at the edge of the
crowd, murmured to herself:
"So you were still holding back against me.
Her lips curved slightly. "Thank you... for letting me lose gracefully."
High Platform Outrage
On the judging stand, Cangsong Zhenren's face darkened like a
stormcloud.
"Tian Buyi! What kind of disciple have you raised? To cripple a fellow disciple so ruthlessly this is the behavior of a demonic cultivator!"
Tian Buyi stood, his expression smug.
"Oh? Should I report my teaching methods to you, Senior Brother
Cangsong?"
He stroked his beard, eyes gleaming with triumph,
"Qi Hao has trained for over a hundred years. My Xiaofan has only practiced for five. Naturally, he had to go all out." A mocking smirk.
"Who knew Oi Hao was so weak? One strike-just one-and he's coughing blood like a dying man."
He leaned forward, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Tell me, Senior Brother... what exactly has he been doing all these years?"
Cangsong listened to Tian Buyi's mocking laughter, his hands trembling with rage.
Still, he knew that in martial duels, it was normal for participants to sometimes injure one another.
Besides, his disciple Qi Hao had been cultivating for over a hundred years, yet still couldn't defeat Zhang Xiaofan, who had only cultivated for five years. That fact aloneā¦
Thinking of this, Cangsong found himself with nothing more to say.
