Chapter 480 - Chapter 480: Rising Water and Underwater Breathing

Natsui had just taken two steps forward when the current nearly knocked him over.

He had to give up chasing Dr. Namba and quickly told Erika, "Quick, put on your mask and breather!"

Fortunately, they hadn't discarded these items. The two of them hurriedly put on their equipment. By the time they were ready, seawater had already reached their abdomens.

The water was rising incredibly fast!

Seeing this, Natsui recalled Gardevoir into its Poké Ball and sent out Dragonair.

After all, they were already on the seabed. Gardevoir could no longer use Teleport to escape. Dragonair, on the other hand, could move freely underwater and would be a great help in this situation.

In just a few seconds, the water had already reached their chests. Now, moving was out of the question, and even breathing became difficult as the water pressed against their chests.

Unable to move, the two could only hold onto something to keep from being swept away.

The only thing nearby to grab onto was a single pillar. Erika wrapped her arms around it first, and Natsui held onto her and the pillar to avoid being knocked over by the current.

Gush, gush, gush...

Thick columns of water continuously flowed into the room.

The situation was urgent. There was no time to worry about distinctions between men and women. They pressed tightly together and silently endured the fierce rush of water.

They were so close that Natsui could feel Erika's hot, fiery body through her soaked clothes.

Likewise, Erika could feel Natsui's broad chest.

This made Erika, already in a perilous situation, feel even more flustered.

Still, neither of them had any intention of separating.

After all, they both knew that if they let go and hit something hard, they would probably lose consciousness immediately.

Gush...

The water was still pouring in wildly. From time to time, tables, chairs, and other objects were washed over from other rooms, heading straight for them.

Dragonair shielded Natsui and Erika with its body, using its tail to knock the debris away and prevent it from harming them.

The situation only changed when the room was completely filled with water.

At that moment, Natsui could feel the force of the current had significantly weakened. Knowing the time had come, he tapped Erika's waist.

She understood and nodded. One after the other, they swam back the way they had come.

They had walked this path just a dozen minutes ago, but now it was completely flooded. With the constant rush of water, it required even more stamina to move forward.

They swam through long corridors and room after room. Erika swam in front, and Natsui had a perfect view of her shapely rear and long legs kicking constantly.

Hmm... I guess it's a beautiful sight to enjoy while escaping.

But even with such a captivating view, swimming against the current made the journey feel exceptionally long.

With the base sunk and the main culprit escaped, the situation couldn't seem to get any worse. They thought they would continue like this until they left the base.

Having adapted to the water, Natsui even took the time to admire Erika's graceful figure from behind.

Just as the two were about to leave the base and Erika was swimming around a corner, a nearby pipe suddenly exploded under the pressure. The resulting shockwave created a current that slammed Erika instantly into the opposite wall.

It happened so quickly that, despite Dragonair being nearby, nothing could be done to stop it.

Fortunately, Natsui was quick. Due to his position, he managed to grab one of her calves and prevent her from hitting anything. However, caught in the blast, the breather in her mouth flew off and disappeared with the current in the blink of an eye!

Gurgle, gurgle...

A stream of bubbles floated up from her mouth. Although she couldn't dodge it, she had closed her mouth in time and prevented herself from choking on seawater.

Still, the oxygen in her mouth was instantly depleted.

Seeing this, Natsui didn't hesitate. With a few quick strokes, he took off his own breather and handed it to her. Erika quickly put it in her mouth after taking it and took two deep breaths, finally steadying her breathing.

Once she had enough oxygen, she was about to return the breather to Natsui, but he waved his hand, signaling that he was fine for the time being.

Erika nodded, assuming that Natsui had taken a deep breath before giving her the breather.

However, as the two were about to swim to the base's exit, Erika slowly realized that something was off.

Several minutes had passed. It seemed like Natsui had been holding his breath for too long.

Are his lungs that powerful?

Puzzled, Erika tried to hand the breather back to Natsui once again, but he refused, shaking his head.

Erika was worried, fearing that Natsui was just putting on a show. She poked him in the chest.

With her reminder, Natsui suddenly realized that something was wrong.

He knew his own body best. Logically, his lung capacity wasn't enough to hold his breath for this long. Yet, even after swimming all this way, he didn't feel stuffy at all!

He had clearly held his breath much longer than usual. Upon careful inspection, he could feel a small amount of oxygen from the seawater being absorbed through the skin on his throat and entering his windpipe.

This discovery made him think of his "Sea Hero's blessing."

Could this be the second change?

Surprised, he also wanted to test his limits. He didn't take a break and continued swimming toward the base exit with Erika.

Just as they left the base, they were met by Misty's Corsola and Ash's Totodile.

After seeing the base sink, it turned out that Ash and Misty had sent their Pokémon to find Natsui and Erika because they were worried about them. They happened to meet them here.

With the Pokémon's help, the two of them quickly grabbed onto them and swam towards the surface.

Suddenly, Natsui felt something. He looked down and saw a huge, dark shadow flash past beneath his feet.

Although it was blurry in the depths, he recognized it at once as the Team Rocket submarine from before.

Dr. Namba and the other researchers must be on that ship.

Sigh, they still got away.

The Team Rocket members who fled through the emergency exit were just a distraction. The real escape route was here!

However, since they thought the virus facility had been destroyed, it was still a partial victory. At least they didn't come for nothing.
