Chapter 78 - Chapter 78: The Soul Badge

Struck by such a powerful Water-type blow, Muk was slammed hard onto the floor with a 'splat'. The force was so great that it even damaged the floor, causing many cracks to appear!

Koga shouted, "Muk, use Poison Gas!"

Muk struggled to get up, shaking its dizzy head. A foul-smelling green gas spewed from its mouth, rapidly enveloping Wartortle.

Natsui shouted again, "Rapid Spin!"

Hearing Natsui's command, Wartortle withdrew its limbs into its shell and used Rapid Spin. In the next second, the spinning shell, like an electric fan, created a strong whirlwind that completely blew away the Poison Gas!

"A good counter!" Even as an opponent, Koga couldn't help but praise him.

But Wartortle's attack wasn't over. It bounced into the air and came crashing down towards Muk.

Seeing this, Koga quickly said, "Block it!"

Muk spread its arms, intending to catch Wartortle head-on. As its body flashed with a bright light, its once-soft body suddenly became as hard as cement.

When the two Pokémon collided, Muk let out a muffled roar. Although it caught Wartortle, it also took recoil damage itself.

Due to battling three Pokémon, the successive damage had already left its stamina in a precarious state.

But Koga did not give up on a final struggle!

"Muk! Use Sludge!"

A large glob of sludge shot out from Muk's mouth. The sludge flowed through the openings and into Wartortle's shell, rendering its defense useless.

Wartortle couldn't help but poke its head out. Its face was slowly turning purple; it had clearly been poisoned!

Unfortunately for Muk, the battle had already reached its final moments. With a command of 'Water Gun' from Natsui, Wartortle shot a thick stream of water from its mouth, finishing off Muk in one fell swoop.

Seeing Muk collapse softly to the ground, Janine, acting as the referee, raised her right hand.

"Muk is unable to battle! The winner is Wartortle!"

Natsui walked over to Wartortle, about to give it an antidote, but saw Koga throw a dose of antidote over first.

"Use my Special Antidote."

A Special Antidote?

"Thank you," Natsui said his thanks, caught the medicine, and fed it to Wartortle.

The usually slow detoxification process was greatly shortened by the Special Antidote. Almost as soon as it was ingested, Wartortle's condition immediately improved!

"Such a potent medicine!!"

Seeing Natsui's amazed expression, Janine said proudly, "Of course! My father is a Poison-type master. He's not only skilled in using poison but also an expert in curing it! The antidotes he prepares can perfectly neutralize any Pokémon's toxin, and after taking it, you don't even have to worry about being poisoned again for a while!"

It's that amazing!?

Hearing this, Natsui was already tempted. He asked tentatively, "Um... Mr. Koga, could I possibly..."

Koga smiled slightly, clearly understanding Natsui's intention. Before he could finish, Koga took out two more antidotes from his robes and tossed them to Natsui.

"Take them. I hope these two antidotes can help you in the future."

Natsui was originally going to say he would even pay for them, but he didn't expect Koga to be so generous as to give him two for free!

At that moment, Aya took out a heart-shaped badge glowing with a pale red light from her robes and walked over to Natsui.

"Keep this safe. This is our Fuchsia Gym's badge."

Her tone was a bit stiff. In her heart, she was still blaming herself quite a bit.

She knew full well how powerful her brother was. If her Venonat hadn't lost to Charmeleon, allowing Charmeleon to wear down Muk's stamina, perhaps Koga wouldn't have lost this gym battle at all!

After bidding farewell to Koga, Natsui turned to leave the Fuchsia Gym. However, he had just stepped out of the main gate of the residence when he heard a woman's voice from behind him.

He looked back, and it was Aya!

"Ms. Aya, what is it?"

Aya blocked Natsui's path and said solemnly, "Let's have another match!"

"Eh?" Natsui was stunned, asking in confusion, "Another match? Why?"

"To get my revenge, of course. You don't think you can defeat me that easily, do you!?" Aya said, taking out three Poké Balls and waving them in front of Natsui's eyes. "Inside the gym, I was limited by the rules and couldn't use my full strength. This time, let's have a three-on-three battle!"

"Sorry," Natsui shook his head. "My Pokémon are all injured and I'm heading to the Pokémon Center to heal them now. I think we should do it another day."

Aya frowned slightly, pointed at Haunter and Kirlia, and asked, "What about those two?"

"Their skills are very poor, they can't battle yet," Natsui made up a random excuse, refusing directly. "Besides, I have a very important matter I need to take care of. I really don't have time for another battle with you."

Seeing Natsui's sincere words, Aya thought seriously for a moment and nodded, "Alright, then another day it is! Remember what you said, don't even think about running away, or I'll find you even if you go to the ends of the earth!"

...

Returning to Fuchsia City, Natsui went to the Pokémon Center, first restoring the stamina of his several Pokémon, and then led everyone to have lunch there.

In the restaurant, as he put a french fry into his mouth, Natsui suddenly saw Dratini curled up alone in a corner, gobbling down its food. He couldn't help but ponder how to change its personality and help it integrate into this big family.

His eyes swept over his Pokémon, and when he saw Charmeleon, he immediately had an idea.

"Charmeleon, come over here for a second!"

With a bewildered Charmeleon in tow, Natsui walked over to Dratini.

"Ahem," Natsui cleared his throat twice, interrupting the engrossed Dratini. Seeing it look up at him with a slightly dazed expression, Natsui introduced, "Let me introduce you. This Pokémon next to me is Charmeleon. Although you've already met, I'm sure you don't know each other yet. But from today on, it is your big brother, and you are its little brother. I hope you two can support each other and improve together in the future!"

???

Natsui's words were not only pompous but also very abrupt. It wasn't just Dratini; even Charmeleon had a look of utter confusion on its face.

Seeing this, Natsui put an arm around Charmeleon, turned it around, and whispered to it, "Hey, this guy is not only a foodie, but it's also been through some trauma. That's why it needs your guidance. No matter what method you use, you have to get it back to normal. So, this matter, you understand, capiche?
