Chapter 61 - Chapter 61: Zapdos Attacks

As the seawater slowly receded, looking at the city occupied by the Tentacool, whether people wanted to or not, they now had to make a final effort to defend this land.

After retreating to a safe place, they all sent out their Pokémon in unison, trying to counterattack while resisting the jellyfish offensive.

Seeing this, Brock also took out a Poké Ball and said to Natsui and the others, "Let's help out too!"

"But…" Ash hesitated for a moment, "how are we supposed to fight a giant thing like that?"

"Don't think so much!" Natsui also sent out his Pokémon at this point. "Let's just beat back those smaller Tentacool first! Kirlia, Gyarados, Jolteon, Ivysaur, and Wartortle, you guys go too!"

At this point, everyone had no other choice and threw themselves into the battle.

Ash sent out Pikachu, Pidgeotto, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle. Brock also brought out his Zubat. Only Misty still wanted to try and quell the riot through persuasion.

"It's no use." Seeing Misty wanting to go up and intervene, Natsui quickly grabbed her arm. "Until Tentacruel's anger has subsided, it won't listen to any human explanations. We can only communicate with it after we calm it down!"

If it had been anyone else, with Misty's personality, she would have certainly argued back if their opinions differed. But facing Natsui, she didn't want to argue with him at all. Thus, her stance instantly changed, and she nodded obediently.

"Okay, then I'll help too. Go, Staryu, Starmie, Goldeen!"

With more and more trainers' Pokémon joining, the battle began, erupting in almost every corner of the city.

In a melee of this scale, giving individual commands to the Pokémon was clearly unrealistic. People could only let them act on their own, allowing the Pokémon to fight as they pleased based on their past experience and instincts.

However, the number of Tentacool was simply too great, and with that giant Tentacruel, even after fighting for a long time, the human side still hadn't gained any significant advantage.

Seeing the battle at a stalemate and the city so severely damaged, Natsui understood in his heart that perhaps it was time to do something.

Thinking of this, he hesitated for a moment, then turned to Misty and said softly, "I'll leave my Pokémon with you for now. I have to step away for a moment."

"Huh?" Misty was confused. "Where are you going?"

Natsui raised a finger to his lips in a hushing gesture. Without saying more, amidst Misty's curiosity, he quietly left the crowd alone and went behind the television tower.

It wasn't until he reached a corner where no one was paying attention that Natsui crouched down and took out the Gengar mask from his backpack.

Haunter emerged from his shadow. Being clever, it had already guessed Natsui's intention.

"Are you really going to do this?"

Natsui asked in return, "What? Are you trying to talk me out of it?"

"How could that be possible," Haunter let out its signature 'ghehehe' laugh. "I love excitement the most. How could I possibly miss out on something like this!"

"Then I'm counting on you to watch my back!"

Natsui put on the mask. Seeing a black raincoat that had drifted from who-knows-where snagged on a bush nearby, he walked over and draped it around himself like a cloak.

Perfect, completely covered. Even someone who knew him well wouldn't be able to easily recognize his identity!

With all this done, he sent out Zapdos.

The moment Zapdos appeared, it spread its wings and let out a loud cry. As a Legendary Pokémon, even after changing its Poké Ball, it still disliked being in such a small, enclosed space.

"Zapdos, this time's opponent is a big one, and it's very strong. It's all up to you."

Zapdos stared at Natsui for a few seconds. It didn't refuse, just nodded reluctantly.

"Good." Natsui then pointed to the top of the television tower and said to it, "Then take me up there first!"

!!!

Hearing such a command, Zapdos's eyes widened, as if in utter disbelief.

It let out an impatient cry, as if warning Natsui not to push his luck! Don't treat it like one of those ordinary birds that humans could ride whenever they pleased!

"Hey, hey, don't look at me like that." Natsui threw up his hands. "Kirlia isn't here, so I can't use Teleport to get up there! Besides, the view up there is wide open, perfect for directing the battle!"

Zapdos turned its head and looked at Haunter.

"It can't do it either," Natsui quickly shook his head. "Haunter always stays by my side, so people could easily recognize me through it. That's why I have to trouble you with this!"

After speaking, without waiting for Zapdos to agree, he directly hugged Zapdos's neck and climbed onto its back.

Zapdos twisted its body, trying to throw Natsui off, but Natsui held on extremely tight. No matter how hard it struggled, it couldn't shake him off.

"Alright, don't be so stingy." Natsui gently soothed its mood. "Let's not delay any longer. This city urgently needs our help. Let's get going!"

Zapdos, resigned, sighed and had no choice but to beat its wings and fly up, carrying Natsui to the top of the television tower.

It wasn't until he was actually riding Zapdos that Natsui truly felt that its feathers, like Jolteon's, were a bit hard and prickly. Not only was it uncomfortable to sit on, but if you sniffed closely, you could also smell a hint of electricity.

The sea breeze blew through Natsui's hair.

Zapdos's speed was extremely fast. With just a few flaps of its wings, it had already reached the platform at the top of the television tower.

Natsui let go of its neck and jumped steadily onto the platform.

Pointing at the giant Tentacruel in the distance, he said, "Look over there. That Pokémon is Tentacruel, and it's your opponent this time. But don't be fooled by its large size. It's just a Water and Poison-type. In terms of typing, we have the absolute advantage!"

It was also the first time Zapdos had seen such a giant creature. A strong fighting spirit lit up in its eyes. It let out a huge cry and flew straight towards Tentacruel!

At this moment, the battle below was at a fierce stalemate. Although the trainers' Pokémon were stronger, the number of Tentacool was simply too great. It was common for several jellyfish to be ganging up on a single Pokémon.

Just as people were feeling more and more strained, someone suddenly noticed something strange above. They looked up and saw a golden bolt of lightning streak across the sky!

"Look, it's Zapdos!!"

It's unknown who shouted it, but the surrounding trainers all looked up. When they saw clearly that it was indeed the Legendary Pokémon—Zapdos—they were all filled with shock and disbelief!
