And you are alone in this, world.

Elyon shook his head to try to clear his thoughts.

"Oh, come on, Elyon, what do you have to feed us?" Eve was leaning back, balancing her chair on two legs, while her boots were propped up on the table. Next to her, Vigil was fidgeting with his fingers.

Elyon coughed. "I still have some smoked meat... I will grab them."

Elyon left the room. Once outside, he hurried over to a shack next to his house. Inside the shack, his hands desperately found his face.

Get yourself t

Blank.

Why was he here again?

Right... food.

What's food?

Flesh.

Flesh of what?

Your flesh, Elyon.

Eat it.

Feed the world.

His fingers found his mouth.

Eve and I have to clean ourselves of the blood from the Colosseum. He started to bite down on his own fingers.

Suddenly, his left iris changed to display the number "10", while his right one still displayed the number "4".

Instantly, his mind cleared. He looked down at himself and remembered that he and Eve had already washed off all the blood the moment they came back. A sharp pain shot through his brain. If he wanted to remain normal, he had to keep both numbers active at all times—the four was for his vision, and the ten was for his mental clarity.

With his mind finally functioning, he spotted what he had come in for: smoked meat hanging from the ceiling. Elyon quickly grabbed the meat and wandered back toward the house. The sky was clear; maybe it would rain soon? No, it won't.

Alright... H.

Once inside, he set the meat on the table. Both Eve and Vigil beamed with a gluttonous glee at the sight of it. Before they could start to chew the flesh, Elyon interrupted them.

"Eve, can you go ahead and bring some wood from outside? We might need to cook this food."

Eve looked at him, annoyed. "Yeah, sure, where do you keep the wood?"

"In the shack."

Eve got up and left.

The moment she did, Elyon's left iris turned back to normal, and his mind instantly started becoming foggy again. He turned his head to the left and saw his golden spear resting against the wall. Elyon walked over to it and picked it up.

"What was its name?" he muttered.

Two hands suddenly grabbed him from behind; someone leaned in close and started whispering directly into his ear. "Svarnam. It's your trusty golden spear, which you got ripped off for by that merchant."

Elyon nodded, and his left iris snapped back to display the number "10". "Thank you, Vigil."

Elyon put the spear down and turned around; Vigil was standing right behind him.

"You are welcome, Elyon."

The next day, the three of them were found dead inside this exact house.

Who said that? No one.

Eve came back inside the house, breaking the silence. "Come on, you two, let's make the fire already."

Both of them nodded and followed her out of the house. What met them outside was a pile of wood that didn't even resemble a proper campfire. Still, they lit the fire and started cooking the dry meat. The three of them talked about random stuff, laughing and genuinely enjoying their time spent together.

"Oy Vigil, we have something INSANE to tell you," Eve said, beaming with a strange pride in her voice.

"What's up?" Vigil asked.

"We killed a god," Eve stated proudly.

Vigil looked at her. "Hmm, you did? I don't believe you."

"Yes, we did," Elyon nodded. "I didn't expect a god to look like that."

"What did he look like?" Vigil asked both of them.

"He looked... interesting," Eve responded.

"Pathetic," Elyon corrected.

Vigil fell deep into thought for a while, remaining quiet until he finally responded. "And what about the other two? You two intend to kill them also?"

Eve nodded weakly, and Elyon spoke up. "Yeah, that's our plan. How about you join us if you don't have anything better to do?"

Vigil scratched his chin. "Alright, I accept. So, when do we start our vacati— I mean, our journey?"

Neither Eve nor Elyon realized what Vigil had almost blurted out.

"Tomorrow, we will head to Aureth Castle after we rest," Elyon responded, which prompted Eve to ask a question.

"Do you have any powers? I mean, yeah, we needed someone shy in this group to change the dynamic. But if you didn't have anything, it would go to waste."

Vigil rubbed the back of his neck shyly. "Oh yeah, I understand. Happily enough, I have two of them, actually."

Both Elyon and Eve were immediately intrigued.

Vigil whistled, and a massive flock of crows suddenly started to blacken the sky above them. Only a single, echoing word was heard throughout the expanse: "Kraa-ugh."

Both Eve and Elyon looked up at the darkened sky, and Vigil explained, "I have a high affinity for crows; if I tell them to do something, they will do just that."

While Elyon still stared up at the flock, Eve turned her gaze back down toward Vigil. "And your second one?"

"I have a vast memory," Vigil said softly. "I remember almost everything."

Elyon looked back down at him, his interest piqued. "Interesting. Two interesting powers. Alright, Vigil, you will be my second student."

Vigil smiled. "Thank you... master."
