Chapter 2 - Can four people keep a secret?

The rising sun had barely shown its face when Sebastian heard the soft cry of his new kitten. He was dusting thankfully nearby. So, he was able to enter his room before the cat had brought much attention to itself.

"Now now, we mustn't let the others hear you. With my luck they'll blab about you to the master before breakfast is even served." Sebastian gently stroked the cats back, earing a purr and a little stretch from the feline. Her eyes now sparkled, and he swore he could see a small smile on her little cat lips.

"You must be hungry. Stay put, I'll be back with some cream for you." With that, Sebastian left to the kitchen. Warming on the stove the some cream, he didn't know the other servants of the house had risen yet.

"Oi, Mey-Rin you almost ready yet?" Baldroy, the chef called through a closed door. He was lighting a cigarette when the door opend, and the maroon haired maid walked out. She was fixing her glasses when Finnian joined them with a yawn. He was setting his gardeners hat around his neck as the two looked toward him.

"Well mornin guys, ready for today?" Finnian asked, rubbing an eye sleepily.

"Oh yea." Mey-Rin put a finger to her chin, thinking. "We have to start preparing for the masters dinner party this weekend, yes we do."

"A party? Why would we be havin a party? It's not the masters birthday yet is it?" Baldroy looked confused at the other two servants.

"I believe the master is doing some business with the guests. People like Mr.Lau will he there. Just some noble men doing business i suppose." Finnian shrugged as he explained what he heard.

Mey-Rin was about to speak when everyone looked toward Sebastian's room. A small noise from that direction caught their attention. However they all sighed when Tanaka came walking over.

"Oh blimey, you scared us Tanaka" Mey-Rin sighed in relief. But just then, Sebastian's door creeked open just barely; causing everyone to jump.

"Is there someone in there?" Finnian asked as he slightly backed up behind Baldroy. Though the chef was just as freaked out as the gardener. Mey-Rin however seemed excited along with freaked out. Slowly, she started to approach the room.

"Ay- May-Rin what in bloody hell are you doin?" Baldroy whisper yelled at the maid, as she slowly got closer. No one had dared entering Sebastian's room, in fear they'd feel his wrath. Although, May-Rin momentarily forgot about the butler when she saw the little cat stretching with a meow.

"Oh my goodness~! It's a little kitty, yes it is!" May-Rin was jumping up on her toes as she waved the boys over. Hesitant, the three approached and peaked into the room.

By this time, the Calico had seen the four humans. Meowing happily, it approached. Rubbing along May-Rin's boots, it caused all four servants to cue in delight. One by one they dropped to their knees, showing the fluffy cat in love and affection.

"Aren't you just the cutest little thing?" Finnian lovingly massaged the cats face, his fingers strong yet gentle.

"Oi carful Finnian, ya don't wanna hurt the little guy." Baldroy felt a little worried, knowing his friends inhuman strength. But, he stopped when he felt the small bump on her tail.

"Oh shit, looks like his tails broken." He gently held the tail in place so they could see.

"Ya know it's a girl kitty." Finnian corrected. "Calico cats are always girls funny enough." He beamed with pride as he rattled off the little triva note he once heard when out with the master.

"What a poot little thing she is, I bet her tail hasn't healed properly. She looks real hungry, yes she does." May-Rin looked down with pity, yet the cat simply continued to purr and meow.

Just then, the four could feel a small change in the atmosphere. As if out of thin air, Sebastian had appeared behind them. Holding a small dish of cream, he smiled down at them. Though, this wasn't a nice smile. It was a "you fucked up", kind of smile.

"Would either of you like to explain why you're in my room?" All four stared up at him, knowing they definitely fucked up. They stood quickly, bowing to the butler.

"We're so sorry for invading your privacy Sebastian!" Finnian pleaded.

"We just hear a little sound, and the door was open!" May-Rin shook under Sebastian intense gaze, though it was wondered if it was fear; or something else she was feeling that made her shake.

"Alright alright, just hush now. We can't have the master be hearing us." He sat down the dish, immediately making the cat dart over. Lapping up the contents with little hungry noises, making the servants cue again.

"Look, I didn't want anyone knowing about this; but it looks like we can't have you unsee it. This is a cat I found in an alley in Londen, I couldn't leave her there. The master has no idea about this, and we must keep it that way." The four stared in shock.

"You're keepin somethin from the master?" May-Rin spoke in awe. It wasn't like Sebastian to do such a thing.

"Well, I won't be lying to him. If he asks, I'll have no choice to tell him. What kind of butler would I be if I lied to my master? However, if we keep out mouths closed, I think we can keep her."

The four nodded in agreement, already excited at the thought of having a pet.

"Wait a second." Finnian brought back the attention to the cat, who had already finished the cream.

"We can't very well keep calling her 'the cat' can we?. She needs a name"

Everyone started thinking, when Tanaka suddenly bent down. Taking the cat in his arms, he nudged a finger onto her cheek. Rubbing underneath her eye.

"You're brilliant Tanaka." Sebastian took the cat from his arms, cradling her like a baby. "Her name will be Iris. To honor her gorgeous eyes."

Everyone clapped, patting Tanaka on the back as he faintly blushed and laughed slowly. From that moment on, Iris finally had her own name. It earned a happy string of meows from the creature, making everyone cue in delight. If only, this joy could have been the moment time stopped. Then, maybe what comes next wouldn't be so upsetting.
