The midday sun hung high over Lihue Airport as another plane touched down, its engines roaring softly before settling into a slow glide across the runway.
Passengers began to disembark soon after, a steady stream of tourists, families, and travelers stepping into the warm Hawaiian air.
Among them, three figures stood out.
Two wore black suits, clean, sharp, and unmistakably uniform. Their posture alone set them apart, eyes scanning their surroundings with quiet precision.
Between them walked a man dressed very differently. He wore a white 70s-style disco suit, the fabric catching the sunlight with every step. Beneath it, a pink long-sleeved button-up shirt contrasted boldly, paired with polished blue-black shoes. His pale, greyish skin gave him an almost unnatural look, further emphasized by his red hair styled with old-fashioned sideburns. Around his neck hung a golden pendant that glinted faintly as he moved.
Behind him, the more casually dressed of the trio adjusted his orange-tinted glasses. A grey shirt sat beneath his black jacket, his hands tucked loosely into his pockets as he glanced around the airport.
"Are you sure there's a talisman here, Fin?" he asked, tone skeptical.
The man in white, Fin didn't stop walking.
Instead, a slow smile spread across his face.
Without looking back, he raised his hand. Resting in his palm was a small object, a charm, carved from smooth grey stone. Its shape was distinctly octagonal, and etched into its surface was the image of a rat.
"Yeah," Fin said lightly. "We can't doubt information from Shendu, can we… Chow?"
Chow gave a small shrug, though his eyes lingered on the talisman.
"…I just hope this trip's worth it."
Fin's smile didn't fade.
"Oh," he said, voice almost amused, "it will be."

Back on the beach, the day carried on as if nothing unusual had ever happened.
The waves rolled in steady rhythm, the sky clear, the air filled with laughter and movement.
Dexter and the others continued their surfing lessons, each attempt slightly better than the last. Sand clung to their legs, saltwater dampened their hair, and for once, everything felt… normal.
Eventually, they gathered near Lilo again.
"So, afternoon?" Phineas asked.
Lilo nodded. "Yeah. I'll meet you here."
"Cool," he said with a grin. "We've got an adventure planned."
Stitch tilted his head, ears twitching slightly as if the word adventure had caught his interest.
With that settled, the group headed back to their spot on the beach.
Their little setup had turned lively in their absence.
Dee Dee and Candace were in the middle of a heated volleyball match, the ball flying wildly between them with zero consistency but maximum enthusiasm. Nearby, Harold and Lawrence stood by the grill, focused on cooking as smoke rose gently into the air.
"Flip it, flip it, don't burn it!" Harold insisted.
"I am flipping it," Lawrence replied calmly, though one piece looked dangerously close to overdone.
On the other side, Susan, Leya and Linda were arranging the mats, setting plates and drinks neatly in place.
It didn't take long before everything was ready.
They gathered together, the mood warm and easy as they ate grilled food, laughter, small conversations overlapping in a comfortable mess.
For a while, it was just family.
Then came the idea.
"Mom, Dad," Phineas started, glancing briefly at Dexter and the others, "we were thinking of exploring a bit this afternoon."
Dexter crossed his arms slightly. "Just around the area. Nothing too far."
Douglas nodded. "We'll be careful."
There was a pause.
Then Susan spoke, "If you're going, your sisters are coming with you."
Candace looked up. "Wait, what?"
Dee Dee immediately cheered. "Adventure time!"
Dexter sighed quietly but didn't argue. "Fine."
Permission granted, the group quickly made their way back to the hotel, this time using rented bicycles. The ride was quick, the wind brushing past them as they pedaled through sunlit roads.
Back in their room, preparations began again.
Bags were packedwater bottles, snacks, a few tools "just in case."
Dexter grabbed what he needed efficiently, while Douglas double-checked supplies.
Phineas, however, stood near the table, completely absorbed in something.
Wires, small components, a handheld device taking shape under his hands.
Douglas leaned over slightly. "What is that?"
Phineas didn't look up, tightening a small piece into place before holding it up proudly.
"It's the Spectra-Seeker 3000," he said. "It detects different kinds of energy signatures and unusual frequencies in the surrounding area."
Douglas raised an eyebrow. "You built that just now?"
Phineas smiled. "Pretty much. I'm going to use it to find that hidden shrine Lilo was talking about."
"We're not even sure that place exists," Dexter pointed out, leaning slightly against the bed.
Phineas shrugged lightly. "Let's be optimistic, okay? Like Mystery Inc always says 'Looks like we've got another mystery on our hands' ."
Dexter let out a small chuckle. "You still keep up with their cases?"
"Well, yeah," Phineas said. "It's fun watching them unmask villains. Especially the ones with cool tech."
He glanced at Ferb. "Right, Ferb?"
Ferb adjusted his sleeve slightly. "A hero is a hero… but everybody loves a great villain."
Dexter smirked faintly at that. "Can't argue with that."
Not long after, they were ready.
They hopped back onto their bikes and returned to the beach, the afternoon sun now softer, shadows stretching slightly longer across the sand.
Lilo was already there and she wasn't alone.
Candace and Dee Dee stood with her, mid-conversation. Dee Dee had already taken a particular liking to Stitch, currently hugging him tightly despite his visible attempts to wiggle free.
"Dee Dee… release the creature," Dexter muttered under his breath. Stitch made a muffled sound of protest.
Lilo laughed. "He's not used to that."
Eventually, Dee Dee let go though not without one last squeeze.
Stitch immediately scrambled a few steps away, brushing himself off as if offended.
The group gathered together, bags ready, energy shifting from relaxed to excited.
Dexter adjusted the strap over his shoulder, glancing briefly at the others then at Lilo.
"Well then," he said, a small spark of anticipation in his voice, "shall we go?"
