Episode 8: The Mage That Shouldn't Be Remembered
Scene opens with Mael's memories—years before the MC meets him in Undaunted Village.
Location: Archoly Kingdom – Grand Council Hall
A heated meeting unfolds as Mael, leader of the Archoly Mage Division, slams the council table.
Mael: "Why couldn't any of you protect that town!? Do innocent lives mean nothing to this council?"
Four prestigious leaders sit across the table:
Archoly Paladin Leader
Archoly High Priest
Archoly Pope
Archoly Knight Commander
The Paladin shrugs coldly.
Paladin: "That village... believed in a different god. They chose that path."
Mael (furious): "So you're telling me they deserved to be overrun by monsters because of a cultural difference!?"
Pope (calm but cruel): "Why should we extend divine protection to those who reject our light? They denied our god."
Mael: "Unbelievable... You preach salvation, yet stand by while innocents are slaughtered?! You've turned your faith into a tool of judgment!"
Knight Commander: "You accuse us like you're guiltless. You couldn't save them either, could you?"
Mael lowers his head, fists clenched.
Mael: "I arrived too late… but I never abandoned them like you did."
Priest: "Then you're no better than us. Weakness is still failure."
Paladin: "We save who we can. There are always sacrifices."
Mael explodes.
Mael: "Don't act like heroes. You, Pope—funneling church funds for your own luxury. Paladin—you ignored the town despite being the closest. Priest—you only heal nobles. And Knight—you protect titles, not lives. I know all your secrets!"
He storms out.
Pope (coldly): "He's dangerous. If the Emperor finds out…"
Paladin: "He must be silenced."
Priest & Knight: "Agreed. We'll contact the Divine Assassins."
Later that night – Mael's private quarters
Mael, exhausted, finishes a scroll.
Mael: "Finally… the Emperor's commission is complete. Now I can refocus on the villages."
He prepares a teleportation spell.
Skill: Medium Teleport – Nova Gate (Legendary Tier)
But the gate fizzles—blocked. Mael's eyes widen.
Mael: "What? The spell's been countered?"
He looks down—an unfamiliar sigil glows around his tower.
Mael: "An anti-teleportation seal!? We're under attack!"
His trusted companions burst into the room.
Companion: "Sir Mael! High-ranking assassins, knights, and mages—Divine Tier! They're here!"
Mael: "Divine tier?! Who would dare—"
A massive explosion shakes the tower.
Companion: "They're inside! We'll hold them—please escape!"
Mael clenches his teeth, guilt rising.
Mael (gritting): "Damn you… Archoly scum!"
He begins scribbling a ritual circle on the floor.
Then—a familiar voice at the door. Cold and smiling.
???: "Master… it's been a while."
Mael's eyes tremble.
Mael: "You… it's you! Don't tell me… this attack was your doing!?"
The figure steps into the light—Mael's own descendant.
Descendant (grinning): "Correct, as expected of my master. You caught on quickly."
Mael unleashes his trump card.
Mael: "Then you'll face the full might of your teacher!"
Final Magic: Arcane of Mana – [Legendary++]
Thousands of brilliant arcane circles swirl around him.
Descendant (smiling): "I've always admired that spell… which is why I created the perfect counter."
Corrupted Magic – Divine Tier: Dark Engulfing
A black tide swallows the arcane circles. Mael staggers in disbelief.
Mael: "How… how could you corrupt something so pure?!"
Descendant (softly): "Sorry master. But I need the forbidden scroll. The Pope paid well."
Mael (enraged): "You sold your soul for what!? A bribe!?"
Descendant: "It's just… my final wish, that's all."
The Descendant summons his finishing move.
Corrupted Magic – Divine Tier: Dark Spear of Engulfing
But Mael's hidden spell circle activates beneath him.
Descendant: "Tch… Even now, you struggle."
Mael (calm fury): "You betrayed everything. But I will return. And when I do… I'll burn the Archoly from within."
Skill: High Teleport – Sanctum Gate
The black spear pierces through the light—but Mael vanishes in time.
Mael reappears, bloodied, in an unknown forest.
Undaunted forest - lvl 350
Mael (panting): "W-Where am I…? This… isn't the im
perial sanctum…"
A chilling voice echoes through the trees.
Eerie Stranger: "You shouldn't be here."
Mael turns—his fate unknown.
