Chapter 5 - Tang San, I don’t think I’ve offended you, have I?

"Thank you, thank you, Teacher."

The villager accepted the certificate with both hands, bowed gratefully, and didn't suspect anything unusual.

When he looked up again, Yu Xiaogang was already pulling Tang San away.

"This teacher called 'Master' by the gatekeeper sure has a strange temper," he muttered inwardly. Then he quickly handed the bedding to Yang Yunhai with a smile and urged him, "Xiao Hai, hurry up and catch up with the teacher. Study hard at the academy and strive to become a true Soul Master as soon as possible."

"The difference in treatment is really big..."

Looking at Yu Xiaogang, who had one hand pulling Tang San and the other holding another certificate tucked at his waist, Yang Yunhai sighed inwardly.

Yu Xiaogang walked briskly, not showing any intention of waiting.

With an unchanged expression, Yang Yunhai nodded obediently. "Yes, I'll do my best."

He took the certificate, tucked it inside his clothes, picked up the bedding with both arms, and slightly bowed.

"Uncle, I'm going in now."

"Go on," the villager replied with a small smile, watching as Yang Yunhai ran after them.

Only when Yang Yunhai was about to catch up did the villager turn and leave.

At that moment, Yu Xiaogang turned to look at Tang San.

"The certificate from the Spirit Hall says your name is Tang San, right? Tang San, you should understand, 'Master' and 'Teacher' mean very different things. Don't mix them up."

"Unless…" He paused and looked at Tang San with burning eyes.

"Unless you truly want me to be your teacher."

"You want to teach me how to cultivate my martial soul?" Tang San asked.

Yu Xiaogang stopped and stood facing Tang San, smiling. "Would you like that?"

Tang San didn't answer. He simply raised his head and looked at Yu Xiaogang quietly.

Clack, clack, clack, crisp footsteps approached.

Yu Xiaogang instinctively turned his head and frowned, it was Yang Yunhai carrying his bedding.

A flash of displeasure flickered in his eyes but disappeared quickly. He turned back to Tang San, gently ruffled his hair, nodded slightly, and smiled.

"Tang San, you really are a clever child."

"Let's go."

He gave Tang San a meaningful glance, said nothing more, and continued walking forward, hand in hand.

He didn't spare Yang Yunhai a single glance.

Tang San, however, looked back at Yang Yunhai thoughtfully.

"This so-called Master might really be someone with true skills."

In Tang Sect, where he came from in his previous life, many powerful secret arts were only taught to true disciples. The highest-level techniques, like the Xuantian Treasure Record, were heavily guarded to prevent outsiders from stealing them.

Outer disciples, inner disciples, core disciples, and true disciples, the Tang Sect divided disciples into layers to ensure only the loyal and capable inherited the legacy. If someone learned the sect's secrets and then betrayed it, the consequences could be catastrophic.

If Yu Xiaogang really had unique insights into Soul Master cultivation and was cautious about who he taught, it would be understandable.

Thinking of this, Tang San started looking forward to his next conversation with Yu Xiaogang. At the same time, a trace of displeasure crept into his heart.

From the corner of his eye, he glanced again at Yang Yunhai.

"This kid really came at the wrong time... what a nuisance."

"???"

Seeing Tang San glance sideways at him with a slight frown, Yang Yunhai's heart clenched.

He remembered the famous quote from Tang Buddha: "Those who seek death always find a way."

Tang San, I don't think I've done anything to offend you?

If not for the fact that he couldn't beat him now, he might have snapped back with, "What are you looking at!?"

But seriously, Tang San's emotional control was terrible.

_Just a glance and a frown? Even a fool could tell you're annoyed with me._

Yang Yunhai pretended not to notice, moved his gaze forward, and suddenly saw a tall building come into view.

A thought struck him, and he spoke.

"That building is really tall. Master, what is that place?"

"That's the administrative office, where new students register," Yu Xiaogang replied with a calm expression.

"If you're in a hurry, you can go ahead by yourself. There are teachers there responsible for handling the registrations. Just ask someone when you get in."

"Mm, mm, thank you, Master."

Yang Yunhai nodded immediately and muttered to himself, "After registration, I still need to settle into the dorm, figure out where to attend classes, where to eat... I still have a lot to do today."

With that, he bowed respectfully.

"Master, I'll head off now. Goodbye!"

Then he turned and ran off in a hurry.

"Really an impatient type," was Tang San's internal evaluation.

Yu Xiaogang shook his head slightly, then turned to Tang San.

"Tang San, aren't you in a hurry?"

Tang San didn't respond. He just stopped walking and looked up at Yu Xiaogang.

"You're a great kid," Yu Xiaogang said, eyes flashing as he nodded in admiration.

"You have extraordinary talent and you're very intelligent. Looks like I'll have to be persistent this time. After all, you are the third person in the past hundred years on the continent to have twin martial souls."

As he spoke, Tang San's expression changed, and he subtly raised his left wrist.

"You must be wondering how I knew you had twin martial souls?" Yu Xiaogang smiled and held up the certificate.

"It's all because of this document."

He began confidently explaining his research findings.

Not far away, Yang Yunhai, who had already walked off, suddenly looked back, just in time to see Tang San kneeling in front of Yu Xiaogang.

"So, the two of them think I'm in the way?"

Yu Xiaogang wanting to recruit a student and seeing him as a nuisance was understandable.

But Tang San too? Just because he wanted to hear Yu Xiaogang's theories?

Was that why he gave him that look?

Yang Yunhai couldn't help but feel suspicious.

Words failed to describe his emotions at the moment. He could only mutter a phrase from his previous life:

"MMP!" (censored curse)

He had to admit, Yu Xiaogang was skilled at persuasion and manipulation.

Shaking his head, he turned and ran toward the administrative office.

Soon, he completed his registration and received a school uniform.

As he walked out, he happened to see Yu Xiaogang entering with Tang San.

He greeted politely, "Hello, Master."

Yu Xiaogang ignored him, only giving a cool nod before walking in with Tang San.

Whether it was due to the impression he left earlier or simply because he looked too dark-skinned, Tang San didn't even glance at him.

"..."

Yang Yunhai didn't even bother to complain. He turned and left.

Before long, he arrived at Dorm Seven.

When he entered, seven or eight strong-looking boys between 8 and 12 years old all turned to look at him.

Yang Yunhai quickly introduced himself in a friendly tone.

"Hello everyone. I'm Yang Yunhai, a working student from Gucao Village. You can call me Xiao Hai."

"My martial soul is Blue Silver Grass, and my innate soul power is only 0.5. I hope to receive everyone's guidance."

Although he had only run a small repair shop in his past life, he had learned how to interact with people.

Blue Silver Grass, 0.5 innate soul power...

Originally, some of the boys were ready to mock him for having such a useless martial soul. But when they heard 0.5 innate soul power and saw how polite he was, they swallowed their words.

This kid... he's really sensible!

No need to fight over dominance here.

0.5 soul power and Blue Silver Grass? Definitely not someone to fear.

The largest boy stepped forward, speaking boldly, "I'm Wang Sheng. My martial soul is Battle Tiger. I'm going to be a Battle Soul Master in the future, and I'm the boss here."

"You're Xiao Hai, right? Don't worry. Now that you're in Dorm Seven, we're family. I'll look out for you."

"Thank you, Brother Wang," Yang Yunhai nodded immediately, then glanced him over and complimented,

"Brother Wang, you're so strong! Tigers are fierce beasts, and your martial soul sounds powerful. I believe you'll definitely become a great Battle Soul Master."

Wang Sheng smiled shyly and scratched his head.

"Hehe, thanks for the kind words."

He looked at the bedding and uniform that almost completely covered Yang Yunhai's upper body and immediately reached out warmly.

"Little Brother Xiao Hai, carrying all that must be tiring. Let me help. Pick whichever bed you like, I'll help you set it up."

"Thanks for the trouble, Brother Wang."

Yang Yunhai responded politely and handed everything over.

Soon, with the help of his new roommates, his bed was set up.

At that moment, the sound of footsteps came again from the open wooden door.
